Chapter 162: Coming Together

Name:Game's Dogma Author:
Hearing Drako Yau agree to her demand so quickly, Shue Ching was a bit peeved; she simply wanted to throw a small tantrum for fun. Who knew that her boss was so dumb that he agreed right away…

Suddenly, an idea popped up in her head.

‘Boss, don’t you think we should live together?’

‘Live together?’

Shue Ching immediately elaborated on it. ‘The all of us together I mean. We all work for you full-time now anyways, might as well find a place and live together. Going online or whatnot, it’ll be more convenient that way.’

Drako Yau scratched his chin.

So basically a studio, huh… It’s a nice idea.

‘Sasaki.’

‘Yes boss.’ Ki Shing Chi shot up from the sofa; he wasn’t as casual with the boss as Shue Ching was.

‘I’ll let you handle the details. Money or whatnot, just send me an invoice after it’s done. I’ll send you the money afterwards. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

‘Strider, inform the others. Tell them to contact Sasaki if they’re interested.’

Shue Ching immediately chimed in and groaned, ‘What about you, boss?’

Cheung Fung and Ki Shing Chi smiled wryly. It was an open secret that she had her eyes set on the boss. She probably suggested co-living in a studio for that reason.

Drako Yau also had the same reaction. How should he explain it to them? That he was stuck in the game and couldn’t log out? Seeing the hologram projected from his phone, he realised he somewhat missed living in the actual world.

‘I’ll pass for personal reasons.’

‘Boss, let’s save ourselves some trouble and stay at my place. I’ve got loads of spare rooms anyways. I can waive the rent too,’ Ki Shing Chi suggested.

Ki Industries was a two-hundred-storey tall building, of which the top ten or so floors were reserved for the Ki family. Using a floor or two for themselves wasn’t an issue at all.

‘It’s your call. I’m not worried about the others, but remember to notify Dan and that otaku Zephyrwolf.’ Drako Yau hung up afterwards.

Ki Shing Chi immediately made a few calls. Dan and Zephyrwolf naturally agreed to the idea right away. As for Greenstone, he also declined the offer for personal reasons. Dumbgirl the loli said she had to ask her mum first.

Ki Shing Chi suddenly felt like a strange uncle who abducted kids.

Cheung Fung left the Third City for he had matters to deal with back at the Ninth City.

The next day, he was met with cheers and warm welcomes when he returned to his office. Male colleagues who had never bothered getting along with him suddenly acted close with him, some patting his shoulders while others gave him high-fives. Meanwhile, his female colleagues looked at him in admiration and pressed their not-so-developed bosoms onto his arm whenever they had the chance.

Everything… disgusted him.

Although he knew the world was such a place, it still made him shudder whenever he experienced the snobbish society first-handedly. He could no longer come to terms with such a lifestyle after getting along with Drako Yau’s group.

The fat lady couldn’t muster up words at all. Because the company received one of the authorised distributor licenses, their status in the Ninth City sky-rocketed overnight and became one of the first-rate companies here. Their boss was already looking for a nicer office and was planning to move over shortly.

Under his colleagues’ gazes, Cheung Fung entered his boss’ room.

The boss was beaming as he said, ‘Fung, I knew you were special. How about this? The manager seat, are you interested in it?’

The fat lady eavesdropping beyond the door was drenched in cold sweat—she was the current manager!

Cheung Fung smiled. He stayed in the company only because of his boss who hired him despite his lack of experience as a fresh graduate. But now… he had repaid the favour. He now had to dedicate himself to his new boss who also saw his worth.

He placed a letter on his boss’ table and said, ‘Boss, I’m here to resign.’

Cheung Fung took a long while to pack up his stuff at home.

Born into a poor family, he had to live on government loans to finish his studies. His parents had retired and moved over to the Tenth City where they lived a leisurely life with their pension.

There was nothing keeping him in Ninth City once he paid his last instalment of rent to the landlord.

‘Mhm…’ Cheung Fung sent a final glance at his house, the place he had spent five years in.

When Cheung Fung was finally done with packing up and turned to leave, he found a woman about to press the doorbell outside his home.

‘Nga Wun?’

Now that was a rare visitor. After the two parted ways, she had never returned to the Ninth City.

With her cheeks flushed red, Nga Wun said, ‘Fung… I… I realise you’re the one I love. I only married Peter because he has the goods on me…’

Cheung Fung laughed in spite and didn’t know what to say. If this had happened before the party, he would probably have believed her. However, given her prideful display last night, he couldn’t imagine how she would've ridiculed him if not for Shue Ching’s timely rescue.

‘Goodbye, Nga Wun.’

Cheung Fung ignored her. He silently took his luggage and headed for the aircraft. Not that it was enough to dissuade Nga Wun. As the saying went, fine birds only perched on fine trees; it was only natural for her to settle with someone better. She never thought it was a wrong thing to do.

Nga Wun wasn’t an idiot. After observing them all night and giving it some thought, she knew the woman was just his friend. There weren’t any sparks of love between them, nor did they share any intimacy apart from the initial clinging of arms. She also knew Cheung Fung still harboured feelings for herself just from his looks.

She followed Cheung Fung while acting courteous as she brought up topic after topic, to which he only smiled without uttering a word in response. It was vexing—he used to be the one who clung around her, since when did their roles change?

Cheung Fung wasn’t particularly bothered. They were heading for the same direction anyways. Noticing that his destination was also the Third City, Nga Wun was surprised.

They then got off the aircraft and got on a maglev taxi.

‘To Ki Industries, thank you.’

Nga Wun kept asking him all sorts of questions, though he never answered any of them. He even found her a bit… annoying.

Nga Wun felt like she was having a mental breakdown. That was until Cheung Fung got out of the taxi and walked calmly towards Ki Industries.

The two commissionaires greeted him with a smile. ‘Mister Cheung, young master Ki has already informed us of your arrival. Please, let us take care of your luggage and lead you to your residence.’

‘Residence?’ Nga Wun’s sharp ears caught onto the keyword.

The second commissionaire was as friendly as the first one as he inquired, ‘You’re Mister Cheung’s…’

‘Friend.’

‘Girlfriend.’

Cheung Fung and Nga Wun gave two polar opposite answers.

‘I’m not that familiar with her.’

The commissionaire nodded and said, ‘Miss, please leave. Ki Industries does not entertain unrelated personnel.’

At that moment, a maglev taxi stopped in front of the tall building. Another commissionaire quickly went over and greeted, ‘Miss Shue.’

Shue Ching took off her sunglasses and casually fiddled with her hair. ‘Luggage’s in the boot.’

Shue Ching then saw Nga Wun who was unwilling to part with Cheung Fung, a wicked smile emerging on her face.

‘My little Fung, don’t leave me behind,’ she said as she clung onto Cheung Fung’s arm. ‘We’re shacking up already… Don’t be so hasty…’ (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Cheung Fung was immediately drowned in sweat. Please… Don’t torture me anymore…

Nga Wun finally lost it and yelled, ‘You bitch! You damned cheaters!’

‘Watch your mouth.’ Cheung Fung stared daggers at her before turning on his heels and entered Ki Industries.

From that moment on, Drako Yau’s crew was finally coming together.
