Unceasable was a bold lady who appeared neither too young nor too old. Her ID sort of indicated her personality.
Noticing everyone’s Health was at critical levels, she swung her staff, bringing them back to safe levels. With Unceasable joining the fray, they were saved from dire straits.
The golden monstrous eagle was strong, even more so than Nin. But—they were no longer their past selves either. Not only were their levels way higher, but Drako Yau’s squad had also undergone class progression.
Drako Yau’s skills played a big role in controlling the enemy. Snowy Doorstep and Icefrost applied a triple debuff on the eagle which greatly helped everyone out. Even more surprisingly, Hades unsheathed a sword from his back.
An assassin wielding a sword?
Hades’ combat style had never been like an assassin. He had originally wanted to become a warrior, but thanks to Real World’s weird setting, players couldn’t pick their classes. He ended up as an assassin, his usual class, by accident.
When Drako Yau and his members had been training themselves, Hades didn’t slack off either. He received a skill from an encounter quest: Sword Mastery. Yes, it was just an ordinary skill that every weaponmaster had. But things weren’t that simple when Hades, an assassin, learnt it.
Hades’ flickering silhouette showed not the signs of a pesky assassin, but that of a heavy-swinging warrior, though his strikes also contained a tint of an assassin’s deadliness. Such was the chemistry between his combat style and the Assassin class. Receiving the ability to wield swords improved his prowess by several tiers.
Zephyrwolf wasn’t frustrated even when seeing that his ‘archrival’ had suddenly grown a lot stronger. Instead, he was overflowing with eagerness. He patted Nene’s furry legs and said, ‘Show them what you’ve got.’
‘Raaa!’ Nene howled as she widened her sinister jaws and shot out a blast of flames. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
‘Ouuu!’ The eagle shrieked; taking on Nene’s flames apparently wasn’t that easy.
After changing his class to Demon Wolf Hero, Zephyrwolf could also learn skills for Nene apart from his own skills. This was Nene’s Level 25 skill, Hellscorch.
Zephyrwolf was already lunging at the eagle—Demon Wolf Strike! Nene, posted at the rear, sat down like a turret as she fired off spells such as Windblade and Fireball one after another; she basically had the firepower of two mages.
Meanwhile, Windstrider was casting his skill continuously as always. Because of Dual Magazine, he had almost maxed out every one of Hunter’s basic skills: Heart-Piercing Shot, Repelling Shot, Double Shot… While these skills didn’t deal a lot of damage even when maxed out, they could be cast twice every time and had a short cooldown. As such, he safely secured third place on the team DPS ranking.
The first was Drako Yau, and the second was… Dumbgirl.
Attacks buffed by Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms were devastating. Basic attacks could dish out similar damage to active skills and also inflicted all sorts of debuffs, including aerial blockade, slowness, rend, stun… It was one of the best inheritances in the game for a reason.
As for Drako Yau, triggering the explosive effect of Soaring Flames after inflicting burn with Fiery Dance greatly increased his damage output. His flurry of spear thrusts on the eagle also inflicted heavy damage.
Battles were taking place all over the golden palace. High-level bosses appeared as if they were mere wild monsters. Every squad had encountered at least one of them, and not everyone was so lucky to have received reinforcements like Drako Yau and Hades.
There was one good thing about the golden monstrous eagle, and that was it didn’t hunt players down. As long as you were willing to retreat by a certain distance, it’d leisurely fly away, but its gaze would lock onto you once you stepped within its range again.
Many squads had fallen prey to the golden monstrous eagle. After all, it wasn’t an existence that everyone could go up against.
The golden eagle made a final cry and tumbled to the ground, morphing into an orb of golden light that dispersed soon after.
Everyone was at a loss for words when it took them that much effort only for the golden eagle to not drop a single thing. Not that anyone was in the mood to rant; they were all lying on the ground, gasping for air.
The golden eagle’s final retaliation before its inevitable death was a series of nineteen consecutive tornadoes—in such a narrow place no less.
Being careless, Everlastor, Zephyrwolf, and Dumbgirl died instantly, while Greenstone’s miraculous healing saved Windstrider and Hades. Fortunately, the palace turned out to be a dungeon. The recently implemented death limit took effect here. Still, the three received a system notification notifying them that they could no longer respawn after coming back to life once. In other words, it was a Hell-difficulty dungeon!
Hades was stunned as he sized up Dumbgirl. ‘Where did you find such a young crazy bastard? What are her skills? Hidden class?’
Drako Yau ignored Hades and simply stood up to stretch. ‘Let’s go,’ he said.
As if the golden eagle was the only obstacle, their journey from that point onwards was all smooth sailing. The tense atmosphere gradually turned lax enough for them to start chit-chatting. Unceasable had her eyes solely on Greenstone, who followed closely behind Drako Yau.
‘Hey lad, got a girlfriend?’
Unceasable’s bold words made everyone drop their jaws. Startled, Greenstone pointed at himself, then looked at her and asked, ‘Me?’
‘Mhm.’
‘Oh.’
‘What was that? Is that a yes or no?’
‘No.’
‘Then you do from now on.’
They were all stupefied at how brazen she sounded, but Greenstone was as composed as ever and shot her down coldly.
‘Not interested.’
It was Unceasable’s turn to be stupefied. ‘Hey! Aren’t I hot? I’ve got 36D!’
‘Not my type.’
They all felt helpless at the weird conversation going on and decided to ignore Unceasable who kept asking questions and Greenstone who calmly dodged everything thrown at him. With Greenstone’s decent features, brawny body, and masculine atmosphere, it was normal for ladies to seek his hand in an ‘unceasing’ pursuit.
‘Girl, what’s your name?’
Hades, almost sounding like a queer pedo, was in a good mood. He asked such a pointless question even though he could clearly see the ID ‘Dumbgirl’ above her head.
Dumbgirl looked at Hades, then kept her distance from him. ‘Mum says I shouldn’t talk to strange uncles.’ (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
‘I’m not a strange uncle,’ said Hades as he frowned.
Dumbgirl turn around to ask Drako Yau, ‘Papa, is he a strange uncle?’
The Underworld members were shocked. Papa?
They knew what Drako Yau looked like beneath his mask. Just how on earth did he become a papa at just his age!
