Chapter 21 Switching

Manager's office.

Ren Shirong and Li Xiuying sat on one side of a desk and opposite them was Mao Syà.

Mao Syà took a deep breath.

Mao Syà: "Dr. Li, how can I... "

Ren Shirong cleared his throat. Mao Syà looked over to founder Ren.

Mao Syà: "Dr. Li, how can WE help you today?"

Ren Shirong nodded.

Li Xiuying: "My uncle has taken all my bank and credit cards."

Mao Syà: "Without your permission?"

Li Xiuying: "Yes"

Mao Syà: "You can choose to report your cards stolen, if you have the app you can do it through there. But since you're here I can place a temporary block or permanent block and request a replacement card for you?

Li Xiuying: "I want to open a new account."

Mao Syà: "We can only help with the accounts you have with City bank."

Ren Shirong cleared his throat.

Mao Syà: "We can try to help with all your bank accounts?"

She looked over to Founder Ren, who nodded once again.

Li Xiuying: "I would like to close all the currents accounts I have with other banks and transfer all the funds to a new City Bank account under just my name."

Mao Syà: "Okay, so it will be more like switching accounts."

Li Xiuying: "Yes."

Mao Syà couldn't help but recall the monologue Miss Li had spoken in the foyer, but now getting a single sentence from Miss Li was like pulling teeth.

Mao Syà: "Lets sort out your current accounts first and then we can talk about your credit cards."

She turned to the computer and started typing.

Mao Syà: "First, lets open a new account for you. Could I please have your title, full name, date of birth, phone number, email address, address please."

Li Xiuying: "Madam Qin outside can provide my new address and I don't have a phone, just make a number up and I'll call later today with a phone number."

Someone knocked on the door 30 seconds later.

Ren Shirong: "Come in"

It was a staff member, she handed Ren Shirong a piece of paper which he passed to Mao Syà.

Mao Syà opened the piece of paper, it had an address written on it.She continued typing.

Founder Ren must have asked a staff member to approach Madame Qin.

Mao Syà: "Could I have your work details. Where you're working, an estimation of salary before tax, monthly expenditure, monthly income."

Li Xiuying: "Unity hospital, surgeon. $10 million a year, arrangement made today, officially starting Friday 12th."

Mao Syà face was a picture of professionalism as she was typing, but inside she was screaming.

She's only 23 years old and already a surgeon! $10 million a year!

Mao Syà asked a few more questions and completed the rest of the form.

Mao Syà: "Okay that's all set up for you."

She printed off a copy of the account information and some forms for Li Xiuying to sign. She then handed a copy of the paper work to Li Xiuying.

Mao Syà: "If you give me the details of your other accounts, we will contact them and have all your finances switched to this new account."

Li Xiuying: "Four current accounts. City bankAccount no..., Theta bank account no...., Bank of Guozijian account no....., Rednaxela commercial bank account number..."

Li Xiuying had only seen her account details once when she was first opening them. Her uncle snatched the documents out of her hand as soon as they left each bank.

Mao Syà: "You can choose a switch date, if you aren't sure then we'll automatically do it seven days from today. I forgot to mention in order for us to close these account they will have to solely belong to you with i.e. no joint accounts."

Li Xiuying nodded.

Her uncle had initially wanted to open joint accounts with Li Xiuying, but she had adamantly refused to open a bank account if that was the case. At the time she only refused because she recalled her mother telling her that money and family don't mix well together.

Her mother was more right than she would ever know, Li Xiuying's family took her money and didn't bother to mix with her.

Li Xiuying: "Saturday 13th."

Saturday was an important day. In her past life it was the day that she had officially entered hell.

Mao Syà: "We aren't ope..."

Ren Shirong cleared his throat

Mao Syà sighed.

Mao Syà: "That's fine we can do that for you."

Li Xiuying: "I want all outgoing payments to be cancelled."

She won't be funding the Li family's lifestyle anymore. A ghost of a smile crossed her lips at that thought.

Mao Syà: "Okay I'll do that for you on Saturday when we finish the switch. That's all set for you. We will send your card to your new address along with a pin number. They will arrive at different times for security reasons. Please sign the documents for your current account and for switching accounts. This signature should be the same one you'll use on your card."

Mao Syà: "Now that's all taken care of, lets deal with your credit cards. Which ones do you have?"

Li Xiuying: "Gold, Platinum and Purple credit card."

These cards where known throughout China. They belonged to two of the biggest credit lending agencies in the continent.

Li Xiuying: "I don't know the security code, password or details of transactions etc of these accounts. I believe there are additional card holders for all three credit cards. Li Wang, Li Yu Yan And Li Mei Wu."

Mao Syà: "I see."

She was unsure of what she could do.

Ren Shirong: "I'm friends with the owner of both credit agencies I'll give them a call now." He took the piece of paper containing the address from the desk and left.

Mao Syà sat opposite Li Xiuying in silence.

Mao Syà was only 25 years old but she felt like an old woman compared to Li Xiuying.

Mao Syà didn't know what to talk about and the silence was making her uncomfortable. Also Li Xiuying made her extremely nervous and when she was nervous she liked to talk about a subject that made her comfortable; stocks and investments.

Mao Syà: "I was analyzing the stock market last night all the businesses that the Zhou family own seem to be fluctuating.Zhou corporation stocks have dropped by 5%. I've been reading about a company called Core computing Ltd. they specialize in making security software, I think they'll definite be worth a lot of money in the future. They are set to launch an internet security product in the new year..."

Mao Syà had spoken for 10 minutes. When she was finished speaking she found that Li Xiuying had actually been taking notes.

Li Xiuying: "I want to invest 2 million to get shares."

Mao Syà: "I, well, erm, err... what?"

LI Xiuying: "I agree with everything you've said. Please invest 2 million into core computing, on Saturday."

Li Xiuying looked into Mao Syà eyes.

Mao Syà subconsciously nodded: "Yes"

Mao Syà shook herself awake. Why had she just agreed?! she doesn't even work in stocks and shares anymore!! Li Xiuying's large shinning eyes were so hypnotizing that she had unconsciously agreed. It didn't even matter that she was 100% straight! Thank goodness I just agreed to invest money, Dr. Li could make people sell there souls with those eyes. Note to self; never look into Dr. Li's eyes for fear of getting lost in them.

Li Xiuying nodded. 'Investing money is always a good thing, maybe I should invest in some properties as well. Mmm thinking about investments reminds of a certain family member.'

The door swung open, Ren Shirong stood in the doorway.

Ren Shirong: "Xiuying, everything has been arranged. All the cards have been cancelled and new cards and pin numbers will be sent to the address you provided. All the cards will be cancelled on Saturday. Due to the awful situation of your cards being misused without your permission, your credit limits have all been increased by 20%, you have interest free purchasing for 18 months, interest free balance transfers for 26 months, there's a bunch of other things but I told them to send it to you in writing."

Li Xiuying: "Thank you, but who are you?"

Ren Shirong felt an arrow to the chest.

He comforted himself. 'I wasn't actually conscious when Xiuying met me; its not her fault she doesn't recognize me. She would definitely not forgot about her uncle Ren, if we had formally met.'

Ren Shirong: "Xiuying, I'm a former patient. Let's all go to lunch now and I'll tell you about it."He ushered Li Xiuying out the door before she could refuse.

Ren Shirong turned back to Mao Syà.

Ren Shirong: "Mao Syà you'll be the new branch manager, you'll have a trial period of six months of course. Make sure you sort out all of Xiuying's issues efficiently. Bye bye"

He closed the door behind him.

Mao Syà sat back in her chair. A smile on her face and tears streaming down her cheeks.

Today is a great day. It was finally her day.
