The manager brought him to the control center. The security guard searched but couldn’t find the footage.

“How could it be gone?” The manager frowned.

“The footage is gone from that day.” The security guard scratched his head. “Oh, I remember now. Lee said that the system was faulty that day and he notified someone to come fix it. It’s fixed now but the videos from that day are gone. It’s noted on the records.”

The manager flipped through the records and showed it to Mo Liuxi. “I’m sorry there’s no recording. It’ll be difficult to find your wallet. I’m extremely sorry.”

Mo Liuxi looked at the screen and glanced at the security guard again. He didn’t seem like he was lying so he took his leave.

He thought that the whole incident was peculiar. What were the odds? The footage from that day was gone; was it really a coincidence?

In the evening when the security guards changed shift, the guard told Lee that someone had asked for the footage from that day.

Lee heaved a sigh of relief. Luckily, he heeded the advice of that pretty girl that day to file a system malfunction report. If the hotel management found out that he accepted bribes and deleted the footage, he would be fired for sure.

In the afternoon, Mo Liuxi went straight home after his class.

On his way home, he saw Yan Su emerge from a small shop with a cup of bubble tea wearing a baseball cap. She was walking and enjoying her drink. The gentle rays of sunlight shone on her. She was wearing a simple white T-shirt, a tight pair of cropped jeans, and white canvas shoes. She looked slim and carefree.

“Why are you going home so early?” Mo Liuxi walked over with his hand in his pocket.

Yan Su’s expression changed when she saw him and she quickened her pace.

Mo Liuxi frowned and blocked her path. “Why do you always act this way when you see me? Aren’t you tired of this?”

“Do you think I enjoy this?” Yan Su shrugged. “Nothing good ever happens when I bump into you. I don’t want your girlfriend to see us and misunderstand my intentions.”

Mo Liuxi was stunned and frowned deeper. “What did An Ning say to you?”

Yan Su opened her mouth but hesitated. If she told him the truth, she would be ratting An Ning out again. She might argue with her and cause her a headache.

“Nothing, she just came to explain things to me,” Yan Su said casually.

Mo Liuxi chuckled coldly. “Did she think that you were sowing discord?”

Yan Su didn’t know what else to say. “Stop asking me questions. I don’t want to be involved in your relationship.”

“Who’s in a relationship here?” Mo Liuxi was irritated. “She’s not my girlfriend.”

Yan Su was speechless. “What was she doing at your place and taking care of you when you were ill if she’s not your girlfriend? You didn’t deny it this morning. There’s no point saying all this anyway. Boys nowadays are so irresponsible, toying with other people’s feelings so carelessly.”

Mo Liuxi was frustrated. It was all for that bowl of porridge in the morning. He could figure out An Ning’s character in just about half a day. Frankly, he had his doubts about that night in the hotel as well. He should have lifted the blanket to see if there were any marks on her body that morning.

“I didn’t ask her to come to my place. I wasn’t feeling well and she has been following me around.” Mo Liuxi was extremely annoyed. “I will clarify things with her anyway.”

Yan Su covered her ears. “I can’t hear you well, so don’t tell me. It doesn’t have anything to do with me.”
