His low voice was like a cello teasing her ears. He smelt like fresh laundry and she could feel the warmth of his body.

Yan Su turned to look behind her. His body was long and slender and she seemed petite standing beside him, like a small woman. Except for Shi Xiang, she had never been this close to a man before. She shifted uncomfortably to the side.

Mo Liuxi didn’t notice it. Focused on the yogurt, he asked, “You should try this.”

“Are you sure it’s good?” Yan Su was skeptical.

“I can have it if you don’t like it,” Mo Liuxi said coolly.

She would rather force herself to eat it than give it to him.

After they picked out their groceries, they went to the check-out counter. They divided their items into two piles and Mo Liuxi said casually, “You can pay first? Although it’s only a bit of money, I only spend money on women I like apart from my sister and mother.”

“Thanks, I didn’t expect you to pay for me.” Yan Su didn’t want to owe anyone anything, especially from a guy.

After she got the bill, it was Mo Liuxi’s turn to pay for his items. A couple was standing behind them, when the man said, “Look at the man that you said was good-looking. Look at how petty he is. He wouldn’t even pay thirty dollars of groceries for his girlfriend. He’s a miser, all right?”

“Yeah, I didn’t expect that either.” The girl looked at Mo Liuxi with disappointment.

Mo Liuxi heard them but he walked off with his groceries, his expression unchanged.

Yan Su almost admired him. Any normal man would be embarrassed. Perhaps he really wasn’t interested in her. When they walked out of the supermarket, Mo Liuxi fished out a cup of Haagen Dazs and passed it to her.

Yan Su was stunned. “Do you want me to open this for you?”

What was this woman thinking?

Mo Liuxi was speechless. “This is for you.”

Yan Su was pleasantly surprised. “You don’t have to give me ice cream because of what they said back there.”

She already knew how lousy his personality was. There was no need to put on a show.

“Do you think I’m someone who cares for comments like that?” Mo Liuxi sighed. “Can you tell how good a man is from his spending? Some people who are willing to spend loads of money on you might never marry you. I admire men who only spend on their one true love for their entire lives.”

Yan Su’s heart fluttered. He made some sense.

There were a lot of men who knew what to do to make a woman happy. Money was an important tool for them and many of them only wanted to sleep with women.

“Well… thanks.” Yan Su took the ice cream but hesitated again. “I thought you said you are only willing to spend money on your girlfriend?”

“It was out of convenience. I was planning to have some myself. I should always offer a lady some food.” Mo Liuxi started eating his ice cream happily.

Yan Su sighed. She was touched by his gesture but she gave him too much credit.

He bought the rum flavor. It had been a long time since she had Haagen Dazs. As she started eating the ice cream, she sadly realized that it was the first time that a man bought her Haagen Dazs.

There was a saying that went, ‘If you love her, buy her Haagen Dazs’.

She glanced over at Mo Liuxi and lamented to herself, “My nemesis.”
