She finished one box of Haagen-Dazs by the time they arrived home, but she was still unsatisfied.

They each went back to their own apartments. Yan Su took out the yogurt and tasted the type Mo Liuxi had recommended. Surprisingly, it tasted OK. She found that the boy-next-door was honestly a gourmet.

After dinner, Yan Su laid on the couch, watching TV. She had been working a lot lately, so hadn’t relaxed much. As she was about to fall asleep, someone knocked on her door.

She opened the door and saw Mo Liuxi standing there. He was carrying a plate that had two gold, crispy chicken wings on it.

“These are for you.” Mo Liuxi handed her the food, turned, and left.

Yan Su picked up one chicken wing and took a bite. It was garlicky and delicious. She quickly finished the two chicken wings and wanted more, but she wasn’t shameless enough to ask him to make more for her.

To thank Mo Liuxi for the chicken wings, she made him some beef congee the next morning.

A little before 8 a.m., Mo Liuxi showed up at her door wearing a sport suit. His forehead was covered in sweat. His cheeks were red, and his lips were moist. His body radiated young and energetic hormones.

Looking at him, Yan Su suddenly recalled how she woke up in his arms that morning. She remembered his slim and muscular waist. Suddenly, her cheeks slightly reddened.

“Why is your face so red?” Mo Liuxi lowered his head to look at her.

“It’s hot,” Yan Su awkwardly replied. “Your face is even redder than mine.”

“I just finished jogging.” Mo Liuxi smelled the congee. He walked into her apartment and said, “I also got us some breakfast from Wu’s Store.”

“Wu’s Store is two or three miles away from here.” Yan Su was surprised.

“I jogged there. It’s not that far,” Mo Liuxi said as he brought the breakfast into the kitchen and got himself a bowl of congee.

The breakfast he brought was rich. Yan Su felt a little bad since she only made some congee.

“Do you jog every day?” Yan Su asked.

Mo Liuxi nodded. “Yeah. I eat a lot. I’d get fat if I didn’t jog.”

“Luosang can’t get fat no matter how much she eats,” Yan Su said.

Mo Liuxi thought for a moment and replied, “I eat a lot of snacks.”

“Most boys don’t like snacks,” Yan Su said with a laugh.

Mo Liuxi paused before saying, “When I was little, I couldn’t afford most of the candies that I wanted. I know how to cook, yet I couldn’t afford some good ingredients. Since my financial situation has gotten better, I tend to let myself eat whatever I want and as much as I want.”

Yan Su felt slight pity for him. She had heard from Luosang that Mo Jin and Mo Liuxi used to live a very hard life, but she never thought that it was that hard. It was reasonable that he grew up into such a weird person.

“Emm, you’re right,” Yan Su said. “Eat whatever you want. Don’t mistreat yourself.”

“Tomorrow, can you make me minced pork congee with preserved eggs?” Mo Liuxi asked without thinking. “I have preserved eggs.”

Yan Su didn’t respond. She thought, Is he going to have breakfast at my place every day?

“Eh… Why didn’t you make it by yourself in your own kitchen?” Yan Su helplessly asked. “I think you’re pretty good at cooking.”

“I can’t eat that much alone, and my congee isn’t as good as yours.” Mo Liuxi dropped his eyelids and said, “How about this, I make you after-dinner snacks while you make me congee.”

Yan Su couldn’t resist but nod and say, “I want the chicken wings that you made last night.”

“Deal.” Mo Liuxi smiled and took out his phone. “Give me your WeChat number.”

Mo Liuxi left her place after they had become WeChat friends.
