Chapter 981: You Made Trouble with Another Man, but I Need to Pay for It?

Nian Junting sat into his black leather chair and said, “You must have wronged Qiao Xue. She’s not that kind of person.”

Lu Kang was in a bad mood. Yan Su put him into the friend zone last night. He was so upset that he didn’t even sleep. He questioned Qiao Xue without thinking after he read the news.

“But… She was there last night, and she’s been…”

Nian Junting interrupted him, “You guided Qiao Xue on work. Don’t you know what kind of person she is? Besides, is she smart enough to do that?”

Lu Kang stayed silent and thought, Boss, that sounds mean.

“I let her pretend to be my girlfriend, and she nearly killed me in the end,” Nian Junting said. “I let her work in the CEO’s office, but she failed almost every task I gave her. Think about it. If she’s really as capable as you said, I’d make her my secretary right now.”

“I’m sorry.” Lu Kang dropped his head.

“Apologizing to me won’t help you.” Nian Junting glanced at him and asked, “Are you and Yan Su together?”

“No,” Lu Kang replied with a bitter smile. “No. She made it clear to me. I have no chance.”

“It’s no big deal.” Looking at his sad face, Nian Junting stood up, patted him on the shoulder, and said, “There are other fish in the sea. Not everyone has a great taste as my Luo does. You need to understand that.”

“I do.” Lu Kang almost cried. “Mr. Nian, Miss. Xu rejected you once, didn’t she? How did you gather your courage to try again?”

“Did she do that?” Nian Junting glared and asked, “Wasn’t she playing the hard-to-get game?”

“You are right.” Lu Kang dropped his head again.

He thought about how his boss asked him to buy books about do sweet-talks in the middle of the night. He didn’t mention that, though. If he did, he might not be able to leave the office unharmed.

After Lu Kang left the office, he received a call from Yan Su.

“Su, I’m so sorry,” he said. “I didn’t know this would happen.”

“It’s OK,” Yan Su said. “I was careless enough to let them take pictures of us. The paparazzi are following me closely these days.”

“Paparazzi? They took the picture?” Lu Kang’s heart leaped.

“Yea, my manager has decided to sue that press company,” Yan Su said.

“Good. I’ll find a way to take you off the top search list,” Lu Kang said.

He ended the call and started feeling bad about what he said to Qiao Xue. Suddenly, he received a call from the company’s inside line. It was the HR manager.

“Mr. Lu, Qiao Xue from the CEO’s office submitted her resignation just now…”

The next day, Mo Liuxi came to Yan Su’s place for breakfast. Surprisingly, he found the breakfast extra rich. Along with seafood congee, they had dumplings and eggs.

“Are these good? Isn’t this a rich breakfast?” Yan Su looked at him without blinking.

“Not bad.” Mo Liuxi nodded, enjoying the food.

“Great,” Yan Su said. “Can you take this as how I thank you for your help so we don’t have to go for barbecue?”

Mo Liuxi’s face immediately turned cold. He dropped the spoon, raised his head and knitted his brows. Under his gaze, Yan Su felt a little guilty.

“After the incident with me and Mr. Lu, my company warned me to be careful,” she said. “I shouldn’t go out with any male alone again.”

Mo Liuxi folded his arms. His eyes were filled with discontent. “So, you made trouble with another guy, yet I have to pay the price. Is that right?”

“How about we eat at home?” Yan Su did feel guilty.

“No,” Mo Liuxi said. “How about this. We’ll find a quiet suburban area. I promise you that I won’t let anyone take any pictures of you. I own a film company. Who would dare take pictures of you and me? No one would do that, trust me.”
