Chapter 36 - The Black Family - Part 1

It's been 2 weeks since I first saw Harry. Today Nymphadora will finally go to Hogwarts, the truth is that she is not very excited to go. Together we reviewed the books they asked for and what can I say, they are terrible. They are more history and theory than practice. Literally only the correct use and invocation is theorized. The amount of spells is minuscule too.

And not to mention the list itself. An impressive number of books are missing that should be used. For example, where is a book on how to use brooms? There is nothing and you expect students to just get on one and use it?

Even if the teacher were enough to impart knowledge with so many children it would be impossible for the teacher to act in an emergency. And let's not even talk about clothing. Only 3 robes? If the kids didn't ruin the 3 robes in the first week using magic I'd be surprised. And why a hat? Who wears a hat these days either way.

All these totally ridiculous requirements just to generate the illusion of magic for Muggle borns.

By the way Nymphadora didn't get her wand from Ollivanders. My great grandfather had an acquaintance who could help you make your own wand. Apparently it is more difficult to make a wand than it seems. From the components to the wood everything is quite expensive. But they are sold at a ridiculous price at Ollivanders.

Apparently the ministry pays for everything and this is where they put the trace charm on you. That would explain why many times kids destroy Ollivanders' store destroying wands in the process and he doesn't care and does not charge you more.

Apart from that I was able to observe how the process of creating a wand is. Complicated is an understatement. Integrating the magic core with a piece of wood that is magic and fitting it to the young wizard's magic core is complicated and a slow process. That is why during the creation a few drops of blood are used.

Changing the subject now that Nymphadora is going to Hogwarts the house feels a bit empty. While walking down one of the corridors I met my great-grandfather who told me. "Arcas, you are old and m.a.t.u.r.e enough to know one of our family's biggest secrets. Now that your uncle, your aunt and Nymphadora are gone. We will take the opportunity to teach you one of the truths that we have hidden. ''

I was surprised that my great-grandfather told me this since he thought he already knew everything there was to know about our family. My great-grandfather motioned for me to follow him to his office and I did.

Once we arrived he quickly took out his wand and his ring. He cast a spell on his ring and threw it at the wall behind his seat. It quickly seemed to collapse and at the same time began to repair itself. He gestured to me with his hand not to make noise and to follow him quickly.

We passed through a long dark corridor, dimly lit by magic torches with bluish fire. The further we advanced, the more oppressive the atmosphere felt. An atmosphere of despair began to influence me. My great-grandfather noticed and with his wand he silently summoned a shield on both of them.

Soon we came to a room that could well pass for a surgical room. In this place you could see wardrobes sealed with chains, some dark fabrics tied with nails to the walls and other larger fabrics also tied. And a single door reinforced and sealed with a magical padlock with a strange inscription.

Soon I realized that they were all the bonds that were in that room, I was very surprised to see that they were sealing creatures that usually cannot be sealed. And I wondered who is the one behind that door and how it is possible that my family could catch it.

I looked incredulously at my great-grandfather and he smiled at me when he realized that he already knew what this room was, again he told me to keep quiet when he realized that he had many questions and quickly took a key from his c.h.e.s.t. He inserted that key into the lock of the padlock on the reinforced door while in turn cutting his finger a bit with one of the engravings on that padlock.

My great-grandfather opened the door and the being I saw left me marked forever.
