Chapter 53

Now that the family had their Tri-core soul wands, elves maintained the land, and everything the ladies thought they need to live decent lives in Mystic Falls was now taken care of. It was time for Lucien and the rest of the family to leave.

Lucien stopped by Jenna's house after she finished school. He told her that he had to go back to England and had to finish school. Of course, she wasn't happy about this development, although, Lucien had told her times before that he would have to leave eventually.

He promised to come back every summer to visit, including some holidays to see her. Little did she know he was mostly going to be there to see little BonBon, nevertheless, Jenna was admirable so, he didn't mind making time for her. After exchanging numbers, Lucien had handed her a gift that he had made.

In the box was a bracelet the Lucien had created using Alchemy. For some reason, no one had told Jenna about the supernatural world. Lucien didn't want her to die before he returned, so, he handled the matter himself. The bracelet kept her free of compulsion and cursed her blood, it was like she was made from vervain. Other than that, whenever she was in supernatural danger, the Bennetts would know.

Lucien shared a pie with her, that's a friend level relationship in his book. Not to mention the other shared experiences over the months. When Lucien was finished with Jenna, he made his way back to the Manor. He decided to walk to clear his mind and plot his next steps, then something strange caught his attention.

Lucien saw Grayson's brother talking to some young woman in a car. It was not unusual that he was talking to a beautiful young woman. It was strange that he would give the woman his life-saving Horcrux ring, while he still resided in a place that had its own supernatural kill team.

That ring is like water in a dessert in this place. Grayson's brother then got out of the car and watched the woman drive away. Lucien was beyond curious at this point. Walking over to Grayson's brother. Lucien wanted to see how he moved- his reaction.

"Hey, aren't you Grayson Gilbert's brother?" Lucien asked

His head snapped around like a kid who had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

"Yes, and your Jenna's little boyfriend aren't you?" He asked

Lucien found his reaction somewhat amusing, Small towns and their secrets, Lucien thought

"Yeah, something like that... I'm Lucien Bennett Dubois." Lucien held out his hand the man took it, shaking Lucien's hand

"Nice to officially meet you, I'm John Gilbert. So what are you up to around here." John asked. He was just as wary around witches as he was Vampires.

"On my way home actually, just decided to walk. How about you? Do you work at the grill?" Lucien looked over at the restaurant across from them

"haha oh no, I was on my way to pick something up from my brother before I head out of town. Do you want a ride?" John asked

"Sure, why not?" Lucien replied with a smile

'He's sharp' John thought to himself

"Alright, well lets head to Grayson's office and then we can get out of here. " Said, John.

walking down the block, the two were quiet until Lucien decides to drop some weight on the already built up tension.

"So, I'm a Sorcerer, you are a Vampire hunter. " Lucien said, causing John to stop moving.

"It's alright, Relax. You see, I'm leaving my little BonBon here and I trust my family, I really do. However, I want to keep her safe. I want to keep them all safe. So, you have two options. and don't try to be bold, as I watched you give that death-defying ring of yours, to the pretty girl back there. We can be business partners or we can fight" Lucien explained

John was prideful, bold, a real 'fight to the death and even if I die I'm going to take you with me' kind of guy. Lucien liked that.

"What do you want?"John asked

"I just want to know what you know, the ins and out's of Mystic Falls and all its redacted history. Because I remember everything, and when I read the town history in the library, no matter how I arrange it in my head. It just doesn't fit." Lucien explained

John thought for a moment, then compromised.

"Come on, I think its best we talk to my brother." John opened the door to Grayson's private practice Doctor's office, Lucien followed him in and expended his consciousness.

When they got into Grayson's office, John locked the door and lead Lucien to the basement.

"Grayson, this young man wants to know town history. " John spoke and Grayson turned around.

Lucien, John, and Grayson talked for a couple of hours about some family journals and the history of vampires in Mystic Falls. Grayson told him about the vampires that burned in the church and the role of the council to protect the town. Lucien asked about the rings and the locator watch. John explained how they were created by Johnathon Gilbert- Founder of the Gilbert family.

Lucien than asked to see the journals of Johnathan Gilbert. The brothers were cautious at first and then saw no harm in Lucien reading the ramblings of a mad man.

Lucien went to the Gilbert house with the brothers after that, he then looked over all the Gilbert journals so that he could remember the content for later, by the time Lucien had finished it was close to sunset.

There's was only one thing that bugged Lucien, that was the Gilbert family blood debt to the Bennett Family, or so he would make it seem.

"Thank you for allowing me to read your ancestor's journals. However, your ancestor killed mine. And I'm willing to bet you Gilberts have killed a lot of witches over the course of your families residency in this town. So, I want you to promise me one thing." Said Lucien

"And what would that be?" Grayson asked.

"your wife is best friends with my cousin, And I really like your sister in law. So I'm going to make this easy. In one of the earlier Journals, Johnathan talks about the witches spell book. I want you to show that to Abby and I want you to help her find it. " Lucien told the brothers

"Why not, if we and the witches team up, I'm sure the town would only be safer " Grayson replied
