“What exactly is your plan? Spit it out, quick.”
Qin Yanan was truly in a hurry now.
She had no real connection with Shen Tianyan, they hadn’t even met in person.
But she often heard about his good deeds and really wanted to help him.
“Don’t rush me, I’m thinking, aren’t I?” Tang Feng glared at her in irritation.
If it hadn’t been for the fact that he knew Mr. Shen posed no threat to him, he might have actually felt jealous.
“How about… we call the police?” Qin Yanan suggested after pondering for a moment.
“Call the police? Under what pretext?” Tang Feng immediately challenged.
“On the grounds of…” Qin Yanan suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
Although they were now quite certain that Wang Xiaodao was going to make a move against Shen Tianyan,
they had no evidence.
Calls to the police required evidence; surely they couldn’t expect the police to act just on their suspicions?
“Then… what if we go directly to Mr. Shen? Tell him about this?” Qin Yanan thought for another moment and suggested again.
“Do you know Mr. Shen?” Tang Feng asked, not directly dismissing the suggestion.
“His name is indeed well-known, but I’ve never met him,” Qin Yanan honestly replied.
“So you plan to rush to Mr. Shen with nothing but your word and expect him to believe that someone is after his jade bracelet? I’m afraid they’ll suspect you instead of Wang Xiaodao,” Tang Feng once again rejected her proposal.
“This won’t work, that won’t work, so what are we supposed to do? We can’t just stand by and do nothing,” Qin Yanan grew a bit angry after her suggestions were turned down one after another.
After all, she was also his boss, couldn’t he give her some face?
Tang Feng furrowed his brow in deep thought, then looked at her again, “If we could get our hands on the bracelet beforehand, things would be much easier. Let Wang Xiaodao and his people hit a wall, and we might even help Mr. Shen through this tough spot.”
Qin Yanan shook her head, “I’m afraid that won’t work.”
Tang Feng was immediately puzzled, “Why not?”
Qin Yanan pursed her lips, “Because Mr. Shen has already spread the word that he’s planning a small auction to sell that bracelet. Without telling him what’s really going on, he would never sell the bracelet to us privately.”
At this bad news, Tang Feng was speechless.
Mr. Shen might be kind, but he was also a bit foolish.
Instead of trying to quickly dispose of such a treasure, he actually thought about making more money from it.
No wonder it attracted the covetous eyes of those with bad intentions.
But after all, he did want to do more good deeds, like helping poor areas build roads, so his actions were somewhat understandable.
This put him in a tough spot.
They certainly couldn’t tell Shen Tianyan anything without evidence. Even if they did, he wouldn’t believe it.
Instead, he might become suspicious of them.
If they ended up not saving anyone but became suspects themselves, that would be a serious loss.
Now even the option of purchasing the bracelet wasn’t viable.
What else could they do?
Qin Yanan also tilted her little head to think of a solution, and after a moment, her eyes suddenly lit up, “I have an idea…”
“What good idea could you possibly have?” By now, Tang Feng had pegged her as nothing more than a pretty face and had no hope for her suggestions.
“How do you know it’s not a good one if you haven’t even heard it?” Qin Yanan glared at him furiously.
This kid was really getting too big for his britches.
Was it just because she had shown him a bit of kindness that he forgot his place?
How dare he doubt her competence as a boss – wise, decisive, intelligent, beautiful, and sexy?
No wonder the old sage said it was hard to raise women and small-minded people; if you got close, they became disrespectful, and if you…
Wait, that doesn’t seem quite right.
If he’s the small-minded one, then who is the woman?
Cough cough…
“Alright, alright, go ahead, I’m listening,” Tang Feng, seeing her about to erupt, quickly placated her.
“Here’s what I’m thinking, since approaching Mr. Shen directly won’t work, why not have a private talk with Mrs. Shen? Mr. Shen always listens to his wife, so it might just work,” Qin Yanan cautiously put forward her suggestion, then carefully watched for Tang Feng’s reaction.
He just stared at her blankly, saying nothing.
This immediately made her nervous, “Is this suggestion no good either? We can think of something else…”
Before she could finish, Tang Feng had already grabbed her hand, “What do you mean no good? This is a fantastic idea; how did you come up with such a great solution?”
“Uh…”
Qin Yanan was speechless.
All the decent ideas she had come up with had been rejected by him one by one.
Now, she casually mentioned an idea that even she thought was poor, and he treated it like treasure?
It was baffling where his mind was at.
“I just blurted it out, the approach with Mrs. Shen might not work either, considering how loving they are as a couple, she would never go behind Mr. Shen’s back…”
“We’ll see about that! For now, tell me, what are Mrs. Shen’s interests and hobbies?” Tang Feng, contrary to her expectations, thought this plan was very feasible.
Qin Yanan scratched her head, “I’m not particularly close to Mrs. Shen, I just saw her once at a gathering.”
“What kind of gathering?” Tang Feng suddenly embodied the spirit of a detective and began probing.
“A friend took me there, the gathering had all sorts of people. There were folks from the antiques community, traditional Chinese medicine, and even feng shui and fortune telling…”
Qin Yanan paused, as if suddenly recalling something, “Oh, right, Mrs. Shen seemed really obsessed with geomancy and fortune-telling.”
“At that gathering, she had a great time chatting with those from the metaphysical circles.”
“The metaphysical circles?”
Having received this piece of information, Tang Feng became contemplative.
Mysticism is just stuff that science can’t explain yet, right?
He wondered if his own system could be considered mysticism.
Current science would certainly find it challenging to explain.
Plus, his scanning system could probe into others’ information and trace back a bit of their history.
Wasn’t that just like a fortune teller?
The more he thought about it, the more he believed it made sense, and with a slam on the table, he declared, “Okay, that settles it!”
Qin Yanan jumped with fright and looked at him as if he were insane.
“Isn’t it about time you took your medication?”
