Chapter 150 - A Toast To Friendship

Joreen couldn't stop thinking about how Hoy had asked her to stay with him instead of leaving for work. The photoshoot was to promote the movie she had shot with Han Yu which was going to be airing very soon. So here, she still met those annoying girls from before.

After her warning the last time, the girls thought better than to try to speak with her so they all focused on the shoot. Han Yu was also there because he was the main lead and they couldn't just cut him off because he had kissed her and Hoy had ended things with him. A lot of effort had been put into the movie and a lot of investors were also involved.

It was uncomfortable being around Han Yu especially when he kept giving her an ugly stare, but she tried not to let it bother her too much until they were done with the shoot that evening.

"Alright everybody. Let's go have dinner and rest." The head of the team said with a clap. He seemed pretty excited about the whole thing.

Dinner was lavish and really noisy. Joreen wanted nothing more than to return to her hotel room and rest for the night especially since she was sitting across Han Yu and it was really easy to see he was glaring at her.

So she stood up to leave but the head of the team stopped her, saying they had to wait for the biggest investor who had called to let them know he was stopping by.

It was their duty to be courteous and greet them since these people greatly contribute in how they get paid so she stayed back.

"Have you noticed?" Xiao Fei said, moving closer to Joreen.

"What is it?"

"Han Yu. He seems to hold a grudge against you. But that's stupid because he was the one at a wrong, right? Or did something else happen between you two?"

She shook her head. "I don't want to bother myself with him. I just want to go to—"

The producers and directors stood up immediately a big man walked inside the room with two men who looked like bodyguards behind him.

She got to know he was the person they had been waiting for so she waited patiently until the others were done greeting him before she stood in front of him and bowed. She hadn't said anything before he spoke first,

"If it isn't the most beautiful young lady in the country!" The man said with a smile as he extended his hand to Joreen. "Luo Joreen, pleased to meet you young lady."

Most of the other ladies there sneered in annoyance but they tried to keep it down.

"Pleased to meet you too Mr Wen. I hope you are doing great?" She greeted politely and shook his hand. When she tried to withdraw her hand, he kept a solid hold on it while smiling lecherously at her.

She noticed that look and forcefully pulled her hand away from his hold surprisingly, he chuckled.

She wasn't amused so she glared at him before turning away to wipe her hand with a paper towel on the table.

He saw everything and laughed. "She is a tough one." He said to the head of the directing team beside him. "She just turned 18 right?" He asked quietly just for their ears.

"Yes. And you know she is from the Song—" The director was saying it nervously when he was interrupted,

"I know that. You already made an excuse once that she isn't an adult yet." The man frowned at him.

"Mr We—"

The man once again interrupted. He whispered something to the Director's ear, leaving him uncomfortable before he looked at the others.

"Everyone, please do not mind me and enjoy your time. I will go take a rest now." He said with a smile and looked once more at Joreen who was typing on her phone before he left the place.

Some of the girls were naturally angry because a bigshot like Mr Wen did not notice them but Joreen instead. To a certain group of the girls, this was a good.

Joreen on the otherhand, wanted to leave there as soon as possible. The event just now reminded her so much of Kyle so she stood up and didn't bother to take permission before she left the room for her hotel room.

She contemplated telling her family at home but decided against it. She was a big girl now. She shouldn't trouble them with all her problems when they had theirs. How would they see her as an adult if she continued like this?

She sighed in relief when she returned to the confines of her room. She was just about to go get ready for bed when she heard a knock on her door. When she checked, it was An Mengli. The same girl who had invited her to club with her and the other girls but she then heard them talk badly about her being her back, even going as far as hitting her assistant, Xiao Fei.

"You haven't slept yet?" Mengli asked when Joreen opened the door.

"...." Joreen said nothing and simply stared at the girl who was still fully dressed in a gown, heel and make up.

"Can we talk? Please." Mengli begged.

"About what? And why are you here by this time?"

"I wanted to talk to you. Well... I wanted to apologize to you."

Joreen raised a brow. "Apologize to me?"

"Yes." She said with her head down. "For what happened between us last year. I was wrong."

"Okay."

"Come on, please. Let's be friends again? The girls are waiting in the private room we used earlier. We all want to apologize and be friends again."

"I already forgave all of you so there is really no need."

"Please. Please. Please. Please." An Mengli continued and locked arms with her. "Forgive us? They were skeptical about coming here because they feared you wouldn't want to talk to us so I promised I'll come get you."

"Fine! Just let go of me." Joreen hissed.

"Yay! Thank you. Are you coming out with your Pajamas?"

"I'll just wear something. Wait here." Joreen locked the door and threw in a simply shirt and jeans. Since they were the only ones in this floor, she didn't bother to make an effort with how she looked or to wear a disguise.

Just like An Mengli had said, the girls were there. Three girls.

They apologized and offered her a glass of wine.

"Let's toast to being friends again."

Joreen joined the toast and as the others gulped down theirs, she let the rim of her glass to touch her lip before she stopped.

"What is it?" One of the girls asked with a smile.

Joreen dropped the glass on the table and smiled. "'Be weary of enemies who come to reconcile'." She quoted and stood up.

"I forgive you all. But we were never friends. And we'll never be." She said to them before walking away, leaving the girls in shock.
