"Ehh?"
SD flashed a devilish smirk at her, looking like a kid for whom Christmas had arrived early. His eyes twinkled with a mischievous glee and suddenly Sunye wished she had not asked that question.
"You want to know my name?" he asked in a sly tone. "Are you becoming interested in me, Ms. Lawyer?"
"No!" she lied. "I just thought that we've known each other for eight years and yet, you never told me your name! In fact, this is the first time I've visited your house whereas you barge into mine as if you own the place! It's not fair! I want equal footing."
SD leaned back, studying her. She was glaring at him, not backing down and it truly amused him.
He got up from his chair and slowly walked around the table to her side. Sunye shifted uncomfortably when SD put one hand on the back of her chair and the other one on the table, essentially caging her. He stooped lower, leaning closer to her. She looked up at him with her clear eyes.
For a moment, she forgot how to breathe. In spite of her wishes, her heart was beating loudly to the point that she was afraid he would hear it. Her usually poker face was confused and she felt her cheeks heating up when he came even closer. They were almost eye to eye and she smelt a faint lavender flavor cologne. Did he always smell this good?
She blinked, trying to keep her focus. His eyelashes were surprisingly long but his eyes were the ones which truly captivated her. Those beautiful blue eyes which peered at her with a strange intensity which was impossible to escape from.
He did not say anything but the tension between them was irresistible. His hand ached to reach up to her and touch her smooth skin. He wanted to swoop down and lock their lips until they were wild in love and lust but he was also locked by her gaze. He was addicted to her presence, his mask slipping every time they were together. His body ached to be with her, his heart begging him to make her his and his only.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she whispered, her voice a little sultry.
"Like what?" he asked in a soft tone. Before he could stop himself, he reached out to trace her jawline. To both of their surprise, she did not flinch but kept her gaze on him as he pushed back a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Sunye's skin flushed and a strange heat was coursing through her body. His slightest touch was making her thoughts erratic and she could not think clearly.
"As if I'm the only person you ever see," she finally managed to say.
He paused playing with her hair.
"Because you are," he whispered. As if in a daze, Sunye leaned forward, closing her eyes. SD closed his eyes too, their lips almost brushing.
"You know, there's a minor in this house!"
The shrill voice tore them apart and both of them were very flabbergasted. Orea stood opposite the table, looking at them in dismay. Sunye suickly steadied herself, blushing hard at what she was about to do.
Was I really going to kiss SD? She thought in horror. No no no no no!
What was the matter with her? How did she give in to SD's seduction? It never worked on her!
Maybe last night's events had a toll on me, she thought. SD's surprisingly heroic act to save her must have made her emotional and vulnerable. Mixed with her curiosity to know more about him, her defenses had temporarily fallen. If the girl had not interrupted them, then god knows how far they would have gone!
Girl…
She glanced at the girl who was dressed in a school uniform. She was probably in her late teens and a student but seemed to be living there with SD…
"Oi!" Orea exclaimed. "You can do your monkey business after I go to school! Now gimme my lunch money!"
"It's on the counter," SD said, feeling irritated. If it was not for Orea, he would have gotten the whip from Sunye in a pleasurable way. But the kid had to ruin his fantasies.
Orea hopped over to the counter and took the money before stuffing some toast from SD's plate into her mouth.
"I'll be at the study center tonight so I'm not gonna do any work," she went on. "So don't bother calling me coz I won't be answering."
"Yeah yeah!" SD scoffed. "Now get out!"
"This is my house too you big bully!" Orea scowled. "Besides, if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have been able to find your little lady over there!"
Little lady? Sunye's nerve was now throbbing. Who was this brat and how was she related to SD?
As if reading her mind, Orea turned to her.
"I'm Orea!" she chirped. "Seventeen years old. Student at GH-High School. Part time hacker, full time sidekick of SD."
"She's an annoying brat who happened to be dumped on my doorstep by some very annoying people," SD said, feeling annoyed. "The only person in the world who can annoy me."
"That's right!" Orea beamed. "That's me! I should receive a medal for that!"
She turned to SD and asked, "Do you have my USB disk? I need it for my Science project."
"It's in my room," SD stated.
"Well then go and get it!" Orea insisted. "I have my entire project in it! Hurry!"
SD rolled his eyes and went towards his bedroom. Orea took the seat opposite to Sunye eyeing the latter with interest.
"And you must be Han Sunye," Orea said. "We've never met but I saved you on the boat and last night. Thanks to my trackers and hacking skills, this idiot was able to save you both times."
"Ahh...thanks," Sunye managed to say. She felt a little awkward around the girl. Why was a minor staying with SD?
"Where are your parents?" Sunye asked.
"Dead," Orea shrugged. Sunye blinked at her indifferent attitude.
"I'm sorry," she said hesitantly.
"Don't be," Orea said, picking up her school bag. "I don't remember them anyway. You could say that I was raised by SD and the old ma-"
"Aren't you getting late for school?"
SD was back, holding her disk. Orea smirked and took it from him.
"Thanks!" she exclaimed. "I'll be off then!"
Turning to Sunye, she waved. "Bye Sunye sis!" she exclaimed before sprinting out of the main door. Sunye watched the strange yet sprightly girl leave.
"How is she related to you?" She asked curiously. SD did not strike her as the fatherly type and they seemed to have a sibling like bond.
"Her parents used to work with me," he admitted. "They died on a mission and entrusted her to me."
He did not elaborate on the topic and simply sipped his orange juice. Sunye was now more curious than ever. She knew so little about him and for some strange reason, it bothered her. Surely, he must have a name and a past. Why was he hiding anyway?
"Are you still interested to know my name?" SD asked.
"I am," Sunye admitted. "But only if you tell me on your own."
"Fine."
He thought for a moment before saying, "I will tell you my surname if you manage to put Shin Hyun in prison. How does that sound?"
"Why only surname?" Sunye frowned.
"I'll tell you my real name on the day I'll give you your second favor to fulfill towards me," he promised. "Until then, you'll have to settle with my surname. That is, if you can win this case."
"I will," Sunye said with confidence.
"But I won't be helping you in this," SD pointed out. "Coz that will be cheating and the challenge will no longer be fun."
Sunye thought for a moment. Not having SD's information for this case was going to be a challenge. But her curiosity was only increasing with every passing second.
"Deal!" she said, extending her hand. "I'll fight this case with my might and prosecute him at all costs."
SD grinned and shook her hand.
"Deal," he said.
