Orea flexed her fingers as she sat in front of the computer. She had skipped school that day to complete the final phase in their plan to trap Mikhael. An ice cream bucket stood on her desk and she scooped a large amount from it as she hacked into Mikhael's emails.
The Ambassador's office used encrypted mail which was protected by a high security system made in Country R. It had the maximum level of security but thanks to the virus Orea had planted in PM Lee's phone, she was able to get some codes which matched with the Ambassador's security system. It took her a few days to rearrange the codes to get the correct one but she finally cracked it.
"Gimme all the dirt…" she muttered. She scanned through all his emails using her system, inputting keywords which were related to the shipment until she came across one particular mail. It was a receipt from Choi which he later forwarded to the former Finance Minister, Hyun. Unfortunately, the transaction was done directly with Hyun and not Lee, but that did not matter. It was enough for Orea.
"Found it!" she exclaimed gleefully and scooped more ice cream into her mouth.
"You look as if Christmas has arrived early."
Minwoo just entered her room to check up on her but Orea ignored him. He frowned and went around to check what she was doing.
"Heh?" he asked smugly. "You're hacking into Mikhael's emails? The leader ain't gonna like this."
Orea did not stop typing the codes but raised her right hand into a fist and used the back of her hand to knock him on the forehead.
"OW!" Minwoo yelped. "What did I do?"
"If you snitch, I'll hit you in your balls so hard that you won't be able to get it up for your boyfriends," she threatened him, her left hand still typing the codes.
"A girl shouldn't talk like that!" he protested.
"Ya'll dunno how much a girl can swear," she went on, still hacking into Mikhael's emails. "It's not easy to survive in our world so we pick up stuff."
Minwoon winced and muttered, "It's just you." But Orea ignored him and reprogrammed the emails. Now, she was completely controlling Mikahel's computer and the poor Ambassador did not even know. He was probably in his office, unaware of the hacking but that was perfect for her.
"Done!" Orea declared with a smirk.
Minwoo stood up and frowned at her. "What did you do?" he asked.
It did not seem that she had done anything much. There was a system alert on the screen but that was it. Nothing else was showing up.
"You'll see in a few minutes," Orea smirked.
Meanwhile, Mikhael was in his office. He had returned to Country K via his private plane last night and was already at the office, waiting for the shipment to arrive that night. There were only twelve hours left until midnight but he was anxious. A few clients sat in front of him, discussing a project about inaugurating an NGO in the city but his mind was not on those frivolous things. He kept on glancing at the clock every now and then as he nervously awaited midnight.
"Sir."
His secretary just entered the office. "Sir, you were supposed to send an email to the Culture Minister to decline his invitation," the secretary reminded him. "That you cannot make it to his daughter's wedding because you'll have to return to your country around that time."
"Oh yes!" Mikhael realized. He asked the clients to excuse himself and turned to the computer to send an email. As soon as he began to draft the email, Orea's screen began to beep.
"He opened his mail!" she said gleefully.
"So?" Minwoo asked. Orea patted his head.
"Just wait for it, my little pet," she assured him. The interface of her screen changed to Mikhael's inbox and she watched as Mikhael drafted the letter. Unbeknownst to him, she had reprogrammed his inbox so that the moment he sends a mail, a secret email will be sent out to the police, implicating Mikhael as the traitor in the Company.
Sunye had set the stage already because their informers had filed a report to the cops about the illegal activities on the ship. Since Mikhael had diplomatic immunity, they could not charge him directly and had to charge the captain of the ship instead. However, after this move, even if the police could not charge him, the Company would be aware of his 'attempt' to betray them.
That was all SD needed.
"Yo, Minwoo," she turned to the idol. "How many followers do you have on SNS?"
"20 million," he replied. "Why?"
"At exactly midnight, the local channels will run a news," she predicted. "It might not be much but I need the impact. Are you ready to create a buzz?"
Minwoo smirked. The leader was not going to be happy but then again, what was life without a little risk?
"I'm in," he agreed. "You'll need to spare my crown jewels though. I don't want to live without my boyfriends!"
"Fine!" Ora groaned. "I'll spare your 'jewels'. I'll just hit you in the head!"
"Much better," Minwoo stated. "There's nothing up there anyway!"
Orea shook her head and rolled her eyes in dismay. This guy really was a bigger masochist than SD.
…
Myung was hitting the punching bag with all his might. For the past few days, he had been avoiding everyone and even bunked classes without a care. The PM was out of town and Myung was sure that his father was going to punish him severely for it but he did not give a damn.
His mind was troubled and kept on flashing the images of his last conversation with Orea.
"You should stop your fancy thoughts," she had told him. "I can't return your feelings. I really can't."
Her words did not go amiss from him. Orea never stated she did not like him. In fact, Myung was sure she liked him too and was reciprocating his feelings silently. But something was keeping her from expressing them.
I can't return your feelings...Those were her exact words. She was too afraid or bounded by something which stopped her.
Why? Why was she so afraid? Was it because of the PM?
Sweat dripped from his forehead and his muscles were aching badly. He had been punching the bag nonstop for hours without a care and he ignored the pain he was inflicting on his body. All he wanted were answers from Orea and yet, his ego was keeping him from calling her.
"Trouble, little brother?"
Myung's mood soured more as the familiar voice taunted him. Jonghyun had entered the gym and was observing Myung carefully, a smirk playing on his lips.
"This gym is for VIP's only," Myung gritted.
"Did you forget?" Jonghyun asked. "I'm a member here too."
He put his gym bag on a bench and sat there. The hotel's gym was booked for Myung but the management allowed Jonghyun to use it as well since they were brothers. Myung was not keen on sharing his VIP privileges with his so-called brother but going against Jonghyun meant opposing the Prime Minister and if Myung did that, he would be torture even more by his father.
"Girl troubles?" Jonghyun asked with mocking concern. "Let me guess...That girl. What's her name?"
He pretended to recall Orea's name and then snapped his fingers. "Orea, right?" he asked. "You found out about her lies?"
Myung ignored him and kept on punching the bag. Jonghyun sighed and stood up. He walked over to the ring and blocked the punching bag. Myung wanted to place a punch on his face but stopped short of it. He did not want to dirty his hands by touching a scum like Jonghyun.
"I told you that she's a liar," Jonghyun stated. "But you didn't listen."
"Liar, maybe," Myung said coldly. "But she's still better than you. A disgusting pig who's committing incest with his adoptive sister. I wonder what'll happen when that scandal breaks out. Is your other girlfriend going to like it? What's her name again…"
Jonghyun did not reply but kept on gazing at Myung with interest. Why do I have the worst luck with brothers? He wondered.
"Han Sunye, right?" Myung scoffed. "You claim to love her, but also you're ready to screw Hyeri? Are you planning some sort of twisted threesome?"
"Sunye will be by my side soon," Jonghyun prophesied. "And once she's with me, Hyeri will know better and step down-"
"Woah woah woah!" Myung snorted. "Sunye will be soon by your side? You mean that she's not your girlfriend? That either implies that you never asked her out or…"
He grinned at Jonghyun, feeling extremely satisfied. "You've been rejected!" Myung laughed. "Oh, I used to think that the lawyer was crazy for agreeing to have dinner with you at the Prime Minister's mansion but it seems that she's got brains after all. Maybe she saw through your mask!"
Jonghyun's smile was wiped off, replaced with a cold anger.
"She'll stand by my side soon," he swore. "And unlike your girlfriend, I know every aspect of her life. She's not a liar."
"If that's true, then I doubt she'll even want to come near you," Myung stated with satisfaction. "You see, if she's as good as you claim her to be, then she'll probably spit on you at the first chance she gets. If I was her, I'd probably be screwing someone else under your very nose-"
WHACK!
Jonghyun punched him so hard that Myung staggered backwards and fell. Blood oozed out from his nose and despite the agonizing pain, Myung looked at his 'brother' and continued to grin. Jonghyun turned away and was walking towards the exit but Myung's voice followed him wherever he went.
"Dumbass!" he laughed. "You really think that she's going to love you after seeing your true face? I know you very well! I saw how you stood by and let that woman die twelve years ago! I saw everything!"
Jonghyun did not reply but walked out of the gym and leaned against the wall, trying to shut out Myung's words. His hands were shaking as he recalled the other murder he had hidden away in his mind.
I didn't kill them, he told himself. It wasn't me. It wasn't!
