Maddox eyes him scornfully, but there's a mysterious smile on his face.
"Are you crazy?" Rie crosses her arms and scowls at Kiyohira. "Did you pack your brain and left it at home before you came to meet me?"
Kiyohira isn't perturbed by her words. Her temper isn't best. He doesn't have a good hold on his temper either, but one of them needs to be cool-headed. He pats her head and smiles softly. Rie frowns deeply.
Kiyohira tells her, "You and Yuta are my priority. Yuta needs both of us. Can you live without him if I leave with him?"
He already knows that she can live without him. Even if she admits that she loves him, she doesn't love him as much as he loves her. It's too sudden. She's not there where he already has been for a long time. It's fine. Usually, one person loves the other one more. At least, they are together.
He's not leaving her behind to these people. He will free her from this cage.
"You will leave the Kamiyama Group? Your home? Even Takeshi?" Rie can't digest his words.
Kiyohira raises his brow. "Takeshi is old enough to handle. Will you divorce me if I leave the Kamiyama Group to my brother? Don't tell me that you can't even feed me twice a day? Does this dark cult not pay you enough?"
Dark cult! Maddox grits his teeth. Who is he calling dark cult? They are paid more than enough.
"It's not about that." She scratches the back of her head. She's not 100% against this. She never liked the luxurious life. It was just not her thing. She's a simple person. She was raised by her adoptive grandparents who weren't rich like the Kamiyama family. Kiyohira is different. He's always been different from her. He was raised like a prince who was supposed to become a king of the business world.
"Will you be okay leaving your life behind? This place is small and not full of luxuries that you are used to. Even if we move, we have to keep a low profile. So, living in a mansion is not even a choice."
For the last five years, he had the luxuries and she wasn't beside him. What value do those luxuries hold in his eyes? Living each day without her was a burden. "It's even better. If I am poor, you can't ask for divorce since I can't give you big alimony. I am sure that this dark cult of yours gives you enough money to provide meals twice a day. I will take the role of the house wife. You take the role of the husband."
Maddox grits his teeth. Who is he calling a dark cult? Of course, they get enough money.
Rie sighs. This guy is using her words against hers. "You aren't even cute. How will you act like a wife?"
"You aren't the only one good at role-plays." Kiyohira chuckles. "Hubby, remember that we have to make a sister for Yuta. You can't send me away with Yuta."
She shakes her head slowly. She doesn't want to argue with him anymore. He can't get the gist of this situation.
"As a wife, I must take care of my hubby's needs." Kiyohira pecks her lips. "You have been starved for 5 years. I am here now. How can I leave before..."
He looks at Maddox and blinks slowly. "When are you leaving? We have an important job to do. Tell your boss that Kamiyama Kiyohira refuses to leave his husband alone. There are many vultures who are eyeing another person's precious treasure."
Jealous crab! She smiles unconsciously. "You heard him."
"I will mail the boss about this situation." Maddox flares his nostrils and looks at Rie. He can't say anything about this. Rie has never accepted his advances. Maddox doesn't want to stay there anymore. Things have changed. He glances at Rie. "Have you started on the job yet?"
"I haven't." She narrows her eyes at him. "Is it urgent?"
"It is." Maddox sighs. "And it's better if you do not reveal any more secret to your husband or anyone else if you want them to live. Revealing the client's secret is absolutely forbidden."
She shrugs her shoulder nonchalantly. "I am not an idiot."
"Are you not?" Maddox rolls his eyes. "If you weren't an idiot, you wouldn't have lost your temper and threatened without a second thought. You are lucky that it's only me. I do not want you to disappear from this world. You should think before you speak from now on."
"Your name is Maddox, right?" Kiyohira looks at him coldly. He hasn't missed a single hidden threat hidden behind those seemingly caring words. "Don't worry. I won't let anyone make her disappear from this world."
Maddox's dark eyes narrow down slightly. He purses his lips to hide a sneer. He opens his mouth and releases his breath. "I am happy for you, Rie. You have someone who wants to protect you this much. You are also quite courageous. Your decision will create dangers for your husband and son, but you are still staying together as a family."
Rie clenches her fists, afraid. Maddox is right, but there's no guarantee that her family won't be in danger if she pushes them away. "Get out, Maddox. Call or mail me if you have something to say. I don't want you to come to my place."
Kiyohira shifts slightly, blocking Maddox's view of Yuta. "Uninvited brazen guest, when will you leave? I don't like your presence polluting the atmosphere of my home."
Polluting atmosphere? Maddox's face turns grim. He walks out of the house.
