Kinoshita Iori leaves Tezuka Kohei's home right away. She has a lot to do.
At the apartment, she locks herself in her room before she starts inspecting the content of the notebook. Deep creases of confusion appear on her forehead as she flips the pages.
"Why would he keep a blank notebook in the safe?" She scowls at the notebook. "That's not like him."
All the pages are blank except for the front one where he scribbled his initials. She tosses the notebook aside. "That guy tricked me even after death."
After that, she checks the mails first. There are a few emails exchanged between Matsubara Konosuke, the secretary of the CEO of Ngage, and Tezuka Kohei, the deceased president of T Manufacturers. They mostly talked about the content of the deal.
The CEO of Ngage's health hasn't been good recently. As much as she knows, his only son is a good-for-nothing playboy who knows more about the best pub in the city instead of the definition of business. Ngage's CEO trusts his secretary, Matsubara Konosuke, more than he would trust his family. There are rumours that the CEO lets Matsubara Konosuke handle everything in Ngage.
"What the…" She frowns. What hadn't that narcissistic guy done? Bribery. Slush fund. Paper companies? "Where was all this money going though?"
It starts to make her feel dizzy. Iori massages her forehead, trying to make sense of what she has read. Tezuka Kohei and Matsubara Konosuke joined hands in a scam deal? High price for defective materials? So, the fire was an attempt to save their arses from getting caught in the inspection.
"That's a good motive." She scrunches her nose. "It's not enough though."
But it's enough for the families of deceased workers to get compensation.
"Damn it!" She loses the last bit of pity for Tezuka Kohei. "How many people are involved in this incident? Adachi Kase definitely knew about this."
Should she confront him?
Before that, she should show this data to Sawano Senpai.
"Iori, did I ever say that I love you?"
Kinoshita Iori makes a face at him. "Senpai, would you be serious?"
Sawano lets out a low laugh. "I wanted you to go on that blind date, but I didn't think that you would get anything."
Damn! Iori clicks her tongue. Her skills are being underestimated. "Is this enough though? I think that we should try to trace the money."
"That's prosecution's job." Sawano pauses, narrowing his eyes on the laptop's screen. "We don't need that Adachi anymore."
She's still going to see that man. Even if she doesn't need him anymore, she still wants to give him a chance to come out and tell the truth. "Senpai, you should write an article. I will be off now."
"Wait!" Sawano stands up, placing his hands on the table. "Is this everything? If there's anything else, you should tell me."
"There's nothing else." Iori licks her lips. That notebook is useless anyway. "Senpai, can you look up someone for me?"
"Who?" He knits his brows. "Is it related to Tezuka Kohei?"
Yes. She wonders if it's right. Around a year ago, Umezaki Rie talked about an evil cult and its relationship with Dark Hackers. The news died quickly as if snuffed out. Kirishima Mira. Dionne Ash. Daniel Nagasawa. Isn't that family tragic? Only Kirishima Mira is alive.
"Her name is Kirishima Mira. She was at the murder scene too."
"Kirishima?" Sawano scribbles down the name in his diary. "Ah… Iori, Furutani was found dead."
"What?" Iori widens her eyes. "Where?"
Sawano reveals the details to her. "The Kamiyama family is always in the news. I wonder what's going on. Do you think that Furutani's real target was Kamiyama Takeshi? I heard that he was also at the site."
Kinoshita Iori doesn't answer him. She quickly checks the news on her phone: Furutani Taro was murdered near the Kamiyama Villa.
They found the girl's body too. So, Kirishima Mira is also dead?
That child who didn't have the look of a child in her eyes… could she die this easily? Kirishima Mira was believed to be dead around a year ago. Wasn't Daniel Nagasawa suspected?
Where does Dark Hackers and Maddox come in?
"What did I miss?" Iori murmurs. "There's a connection between all of them."
"There's always some connection." Sawano takes a seat with a smile, rechecking the evidence that Iori brought to him. "It's usually obvious."
"True." Iori looks up the articles on Dionne Ash. That person was a prominent figure once. After reading some articles, she finds out about Silvester Ash and Christie Kang. "He had a son too."
She clicks on the next article. "Adrian Ash is missing. No heir to Ash Corporation? It falls under the hands of Nagasawa…"
Daniel Nagasawa? Iori blinks her eyes. Is that how they are all connected?
[Ash Corp. donates 50 million to AD foundation.]
"AD foundation?" Where has she read that name? She walks around the table and stands behind Sawano, leaning down and takes hold of the laptop. "Senpai, let me take a look."
"Iori, why didn't you bring your own baby?" Sawano can't move right or left. "You don't see me as a man at all."
"Be quiet, Senpai." She has been looking up information on Tezuka Kohei. AD foundation sounds too familiar to her. Maybe she's wrong. Iori searches Tezuka Kohei's name with the AD foundation.
"He got a full university scholarship from AD foundation." She releases her breath. That's how it's all connected.
"What about it?" Sawano creases his forehead. "That's where my boyfriend works."
"What did you say?" Iori steps away from Sawano. "Your mysterious boyfriend works there?"
"Yes, that foundation is running two orphanages and other fellowsh.i.p.s for students from poor backgrounds. They are quite devoted." He pauses for a moment. "Actually, he grew up in the orphanage. After graduation, he decided to work at the foundation and help people. Didn't I say that I was going to introduce you to him and a handsome man?"
"I don't want to go on a blind date." Iori waves her hand dismissively. One blind date was disastrous enough. Then again, that guy might leave the hospital again in a hurry. "But I want to meet your boyfriend, Senpai."
