Chapter 123: Not My Problem

*This chapter contains some gore, I don't know where people draw the line. I don't find this as gory but still a warning for some who might not like it.*

Midnight took a deep breath and reached into her pocket. She then took a picture of the scene in the room. As the flash illuminated the room, The expressions on both women turned even more disgusted. Imani didn't want to enter the room and Midnight didn't force her to. "You're new to this all so It's fine. We haven't seen a scene like this at all till now but We're ready for it. I can see that you're squeamish about this so just look around the other rooms. I'll do everything in here." She smiled. Imani looked at Midnight in gratitude and walked to the other rooms, her expression showed relief.

Midnight turned back to the scene and sighed, "The one who did this is not right in the head… Hell, They're straight psychotic for even thinking about this. We don't have a small time terrorist group anymore… It seems more like a big one filled with mass murderers and those completely messed up." She said in anger as the flashlight illuminated a mangled body on the floor. The back of the room was pained red in blood and the bodies on the floors were completely cut up into different pieces. Heads separated from the bodies, the bodies themselves were cloth less and it seemed like they were in some form of liquid before. Their skins cut and intestines ran all over the room. It looked like a sick nightmare.

Midnight, who didn't even consider herself squeamish about anything like this was very much taken aback when she saw this scene. She looked at a specific body on the floor. This one had clothes on and seemed to be slightly different from the other. She slowly walked up to the body and cursed, "What the fuck…" The face was horrifying, the skin was pulled from the head, showing the muscles and bones. Midnight put on some gloves and pulled something from the bodies' clothing.

"A badge…" She said as she put it aside. She didn't need to check who the person was at all. "That poor officer…" She said as she looked around the room even more. "These bodies, however, don't seem like him. The skin is wrinkled like it was in the water for some time… And their bodies look more built, even some of the women look like they had some good muscles on their bodies. Midnight said as she observed the mangled up bodies.

She looked extremely calm about the entire situation after her initial shock but every second inside, she felt horrified. It was something she had to do so she couldn't let her feelings get in the way of her job.

As Midnight finished her investigation, a small voice spooked her. "You came here before I did… It seems like Ryan is getting serious about investigations." Midnight's eyes opened wide as she turned around to see a familiar figure.

"Hana?" She asked, slightly taken aback. The woman who just spoke was indeed Hana, She looked at Midnight and nodded. "It seems like what happened here must have happened recently… The blood hasn't dried and their skins still have some color…" She then turned her attention towards the bodies in the room.

Midnight nodded, "It is indeed… But I didn't expect to see such a scene when we got here." She said honestly. Imani walked towards the room and looked at Hana in shock, She didn't hear her footsteps but rushed over when she heard a second voice.

Hana turned around to Imani and nodded, "Well, I guess I am the lucky one here. I came here as soon as I saw the reports of a missing officer in the area but that poor man seems to have already died. But looking at this scene, I can say that that crazy old man was here… I feel like I'm getting dangerously close to him every day… One more lead and I will find that bastard." Her face was calm but her aura was intense. Midnight and Imani tensed up when they felt Hana's murderous intentions.

Imani looked at Hana and asked, "Why did you say that you were lucky that you found us?" She was intrigued by Hana's words. Hana looked at the room and smiled, "I would have been blamed for this as well. Those at the top will try to find any way to ruin my reputation and turn me into the bad guy. So once you two report this, don't mention me in the official one. I don't want to deal with that." She said as she walked out of the room. Imani let Hana walk past her and watched as she went downstairs.

She looked at Midnight and spoke, "As soon as she spoke of that scientist, she became extremely scary… How did she even correlate with that guy and this scene and what's their history?" Imani asked in a curious tone.

Midnight laughed and walked out of the room, She took off her gloves and spoke, "It seems like you weren't able to ask her directly… The answer for the first question, I think it's because everyone except the officer had wrinkly skin and there was a slight smell of chemicals in the room which. And the second question, I think she will have to answer that question herself. I kind of know the answer but at the same time, it's surface-level information. Only she knows the details so Ask her if you can." Midnight said as she walked over to the stairs.

Imani followed behind and spoke, "I… I hope I can someday." She looked at the room and changed the topic, "Now what do we do with the mission? The other rooms were clear so this was the only room that…" She stopped herself from talking about that scene.

Midnight nodded, "We'll do just that. Call HQ and give a report. I wanted to fight the bad guys but we'll be stuck with paperwork it seems. I guess that's how life is… But the scene from before, I know that will haunt me for years to come…" She said with a saddened face.
