46 You Can Do That?!

Artpyro: Man I'm really dumb... so after going back through it I realised I completely switched the 'hardening aspect' of light to darkness... I've gone back and edited the story a bit but now the logic of Sora's magic should be clear. But just as a reminder.

Light has three ways of being used:

-Ultra-hot beams of light that can be used to attack

-Healing

-Purifying

-When used in enchantments it grants the weapon/armour more durability/toughness as well as the purifying aspect of light

Darkness has three ways of being used:

-Direct attack reminiscent of dark flames

-Enveloping one's body into it to merge with the shadows as well as creating weapons out of it

-Corruption

-When used in enchantments it grants the weapon/armour use of its dark flame as well as the corruption aspect of darkness

The blue mist exploded out from the impact of the arrow of light.

In: "He can use a bow too?!"

Indy had never seen Sora use the bow before and was shocked to see that he could use a third weapon. Emphillia had a calmer reaction as she had assumed that Sora could use more than just his gauntlets and sword as he could already wield two weapons but after seeing Indy's reaction she could tell that this was most likely his first time using this bow in front of his friends, Phi followed this same line of thinking.

Sora was internally celebrating at the fact that his first real shot of the bow was a hit but he could already imagine Leah sighing and scolding him, saying that he only hit it because the boy with the spear was in 'point-blank range' he couldn't argue against it either, the boy was extremely close to him.

Sora looked towards the blue mist and saw a silhouette inside.

So: "Come on! I know you're stronger than that!"

Sora shouted towards the mist, from inside the mist a spear appeared on the side and swiped horizontally, clearing the mist. The boy put his knee on the ground and held his spear in his right hand, placing his left hand on the floor in front of him. From this Sora thought he was wounded and immediately unsummoned his weapon.

So: "Woah! Hey! I didn't think it was that powerful!"

Sora began quickly moving towards the boy but as he did he realised the boy had a hint of a smile on his face.

?: "You are way too nice..."

The ground beneath the boy immediately froze and a pillar of ice appeared at his feet shooting him into the skies, as the boy kicked off the small pillar of ice he had constructed below him it immediately shattered, creating a cold wind that quickly flew outward before dissipating. Sora guarded against this cold wind but quickly realised it was just normal cold air.

Looking up he saw the boy far up in the air as he spun around, this spinning was extremely controlled and every movement the boy made in the air seemed to have a reason with no wasted movement in between.

Em: "So skilled..."

In: "Yeah but... something doesn't feel right about him..."

Ph: "Yes, I can feel it too..."

Em: "Hm? Feel what?"

The boy seemed to propel himself forward and as he angled himself so that the tip of the spear was facing the ground as well as his body, his leg seemed to kick something as he sped downwards like a streak of lightning.

Sora was mesmerised by the boy's movements but quickly recovered and attempted to dodge out of the way but the attack was too fast for him to jump out of the way of. The spear came down almost hitting him but it was slightly displaced by a pillar of ice that Rin quickly created, as that pillar of ice shattered another small blue mist appeared covering Sora and the boy but it was quickly cleared by the boy quickly following up with another streak of attacks that utilised a variety of unorthodox movements. Sora immediately summoned his gauntlets to defend against these attacks.

As Sora blocked a horizontal strike from the right with his gauntlets the boy let go of his weapon and crouched as the momentum from it hitting Sora's glove carried its shaft towards the left it went directly above the boy's head, grabbing the spear with his left arm the boy carried it down and thrust it upwards towards Sora's head. All of this happened in the time it took Sora to put his hands up and just a second later there was a spear coming from below him.

(T)So: "So fast!"

Sora quickly reacted by moving his guard down so as to catch the spear in between both his gauntlets, the spear didn't stop as it collided with his gauntlets and he sent a mental message to Rin to attack whilst he held the spear in place. Without even realising it Sora felt a kick on his stomach, the boy had let go of the spear and angled himself so that his hands were on the floor and he was shooting his legs into Sora's stomach, the instant surprise made him let go of the spear.

Sora was blown back from the force as Rin jumped off and tried to freeze the boy in place. With the spear flying away from the boy due to Sora's angle of momentum when he let go the boy jumped forward and just barely gripped the bottom of the spear, pulling it towards him and easing his grip so as to let the shaft slide through his hand, hardening his grip as his hand was at the middle of the spear.

Rin, who had jumped into the air was still in midair as this happened, she didn't expect the boy to recover so quickly and almost immediately switched to a defensive stance where she created a pillar of ice in front of her creating a small wall between her and the boy.

The boy smiled at this, he was also in midair from jumping to grab his spear and he kicked the air to his right with his leg shooting him towards the left then using his left leg to kick behind him flying straight forward through the side of the wall, spinning in midair so that when he got to the other side of the wall his back would be facing Rin he kicked with both legs and quickly spun his spear onto the flat side in order to hit Rin instead of slicing her, as he did he batted her towards the pillar of ice, completely shattering it.

With the boy landing on the ground looking towards Rin, who had been sent flying through the pillar and a small distance through it. Sora had just landed on the ground from being sent flying with a kick and slightly steadied himself as he looked towards the boy.

(T)So: "In an instant... he took down both of us?!"

Sora had only seen the clouds and distant floating platforms at the top of the school far above him as he was sent flying so he only saw Rin getting hit into her own pillar of ice. Emphillia, Indy and Phi, however, saw everything that had happened and were in awe of the boy's skills.

In: "He manoeuvred around Rin in a second?!"

Em: "Even though... he-"

Ph: "Sora's getting back up!"

Sora stood back up and steadied his balance, revealing what seemed to be shattered yellow glass above his stomach that quickly repaired itself before it slowly grew more translucent to the point where it seemed to vanish completely. The boy shifted his focus from Rin to Sora and with the same smile on his face said.

?: "I knew I felt some resistance, that barrier of yours is truly helpful, to think it can be kept up at all times whilst still being able to take a good deal of damage."

Sora was showing clear signs of exhaustion, inhaling and exhaling at a quick pace.

(T)So: "The day's starting to catch up to me..."

Sora looked at his hand closely and found that it was trembling ever so slightly.

(T)So: "This is probably the last time I'll be able to expend any strength for today..."

Tightening his hand into a fist he looked towards the boy and smiled.

So: "You're real powerful. Sorry if I'm not up to my best right now but..."

Sora's aura began to swell up and his weapons began to pulsate with both a radiant and corrupt energy. Sora inhaled as he closed his eyes focusing his aura to all of his body as well as reinforcing his bright aura and concentrating the light into his fists.

So: "I'm gonna have to get a little creative..."

The energy building up inside Sora reached it's peak and stopped creating a surge of residual energy that travelled outwards before dissipating into the air. Getting into a battle-ready stance he smiled.

So: "You shouldn't be focusing on just me..."

The boy's eyes expanded as he quickly turned behind him, Sora powering up had kept his attention in one place and he didn't expect Rin to have recovered so quickly. Keeping his guard up, he quickly turned around and was preparing to formulate a plan based on what he saw but was surprised to see that Rin was still collapsed on the floor. Surprised once more he quickly turned back towards Sora but his entire field of vision was filled by the image of a fist made of light speeding towards him.

With no time to react the strike connected, as it did Sora planted his feet in the ground as he twisted his body to maximise the force he sent the boy flying forward at an extreme speed. As the boy was sent flying he quickly recovered from the pain and flipped his body backwards so that he was facing Sora again.

A pillar of ice formed behind the boy that he used as a stepping stone to stop his momentum backwards, his vision on the ground below him. Growing excited about the fight he looked up only to have his vision filled once more by a blinding light before a sharp pain filled his stomach. The pain quickly transferred to his back as the pillar of ice that was created behind him shattered as he was blown through it and onto the hard marble-like material that filled the ground, the immediate force made the boy let go of his spear, leaving it in midair.

(T)?: "So fast! He wasn't this fast before!"

As the boy bounced off the ground he tried his hardest to dismiss the pain as he used his hands to rebalance himself. Now unarmed he readied himself for another strike but Sora was nowhere to be seen, looking around him all he saw was the gathering crowd from him and Sora fighting as well as Sora's friends looking upwards. Following this, he looked up and saw Sora holding his spear like a javelin as he threw it like a speeding arrow straight towards him.

The boy smiled and jumped straight towards it, surprising the crowd. As the boy was about to be hit by his spear he shifted his body to the side to allow the spear to shoot past him but before it did he grabbed it and the momentum carried him down towards the ground.

?: "I'll be using the power of your attack!"

As the boy and his spear was about to hit the ground a formation of ice appeared that the boy used to slide on, the formation transformed into a ramp that reversed around into where Sora was currently falling from in the air, using the momentum of Sora's attack as well as the ice to slide on the boy reversed Sora's attack power to double his own.

(T)So: "My light armour won't hold up!"

As the boy shot towards Sora he smiled once more, this was an enjoyable, albeit mostly one-sided fight for him but this was the ending strike. However, just as the tip of the spear was about to collide with Sora his entire body shifted towards the left as if something had pushed him, Sora twisted his body so that the spear just barely passed behind him, using his right hand he grabbed the shaft of the spear and pulled himself towards the boy to strike.

Hardening his grip on the spear Sora punched the boy once more and pulled the spear off him in midair as the boy, to his surprise, was blown back only slightly.

So: "I didn't put much energy into that one! This is for Rin!"

Sora twisted the boy's spear so that the flat end was facing towards the boy but found that the spear suddenly grew heavier and harder to effectively use, putting more strength into it he shouted.

So: "Rin!"

As the flat end hit the boy he put his arms up to guard against the force of it before he was blown towards the ground where a pillar of ice had been created by Rin. The strength Sora had batted the boy with shot him through the ice shattering it completely. Rin, who had recovered, ran to where Sora landed on the ground and jumped up onto his shoulder.

So: "Happy now?"

Rin seemed to have had taken offence to the boy batting her and replied with a slight nod.

So: "I didn't think you'd be so stingy..."

Sora chuckled a bit before looking through the shattered ice, seeing the silhouette of a boy standing.

So: "This seems just like the beginning of the fight... I'm gonna be honest..."

The mist cleared to reveal the boy who was showing signs of exhaustion but not nearly as much as Sora.

So: "If you can go through more than this..."

Sora fell to the floor and sat down.

So: "Then I lose..."

As he said this he threw the spear towards the boy who caught it with no effort. The boy walked towards Sora who was on the floor and held his hand out. Sora looked up at this and accepted it, the boy helped him up.

?: "Good fight, the name's Ben."

So: "Nice to meet you."

Be: "I'd count today as a draw."

So: "What?! But I clearly lost."

Be: "Well not really, you said before you're not at your full strength."

So: "Well I guess... but even so it was two versus one."

Be: "Hm? No, it wasn't."

So: "What?"

Be: "It was two versus two."

Sora was confused but Indy and the others walked up behind him.

In: "I knew it... So I was right..."

Ph: "Well I'm sorry I didn't know that was possible!"

Em: "It is a very advanced technique that has very high requirements."

Sora was growing more and more confused. Ben looked at him and could immediately tell he didn't understand what was going on.

Be: "Do you not know about my weapon?"

So: "Huh?"

Sora looked at Ben's spear which suddenly transformed into a bright blue light, the light changing from the silhouette of a spear to a small blue songbird that perched itself on Ben's shoulder.

Be: "This here's Falchion"

Ben used his finger to pet Falchion.

So: "What?! You can do that?!"

Be: "Yeah."

Ben looked towards Indy and the others.

Be: "But how did you find out about Falchion?"

In: "Well during the fight, we saw that there was no way you could focus on making all those complex structures whilst also focusing on managing your aura. Small steps of ice in the air, large pillars to support yourself... We assumed that something was helping you but we didn't know what, cause you can't actually use magic can you?"

As Indy said this Sora was shocked.

So: "What?! But you were using a bunch of ice weren't you?!"

Ben chuckled.

Be: "You got me, Falchion here takes care of all the ice stuff, I'm completely useless when it comes to magic. But Falchion was a blessing in disguise for me, while I could put all my efforts into aura Falchion helped me do things I didn't even think were possible..."

Ben petted Falchion again.

Be: "They're my irreplaceable partner."

Sora's eyes were shining.

So: "So can I do that with Rin?!"

Ben was surprised as he was expecting a response more reminiscent of 'friendship' than 'desire' but he quickly recovered.

Be: "Well, me and Falchion here have been together since I was 4, oh! I'm 19 by the way, so I've been with Falchion for about 15 years. We only learnt how to do this recently, are you and Rin linked?"

So: "Yeah!"

Sora was growing more and more excited. Rin looked indifferent to the idea.

Be: "Well Falchion's really attuned with ice, to the point where he can even change into it. All he does from that point is mold himself into a weapon based on what I need at the time, most of the time that's a spear."

Sora looked at Rin expectantly and got a sad expression.

So: "Not that attuned huh? Well, it's fine, we'll get to that point eventually down the line, right?"

Rin nodded.

So: "Actually... What's the point of it? Does it make you more powerful or anything?"

Be: "Well, it allows your partner to focus solely on magic as they don't have to focus on movement or dodging, also, due to you being linked you can command them to move in whichever way you want during a fight. That's why I could trust Falchion to go where I want him to whenever I let go of him, of course I still help Falchion as much as I can by directing the momentum to where I want it to go but he takes over mostly everything."

So: "A Weapon that you can... control?"

Sora's weapons were indeed powerful, but if they were separated from him all he could really do is summon them back, not anything close to Ben's intricate use of Falchion.

Be: "Fighting as one, that's me and Falchion's strength. It's especially easy when you're linked because you don't even have to speak to communicate, as long as your partner understands you, you can break through your limits over and over again. Of course I'm still nowhere near as strong as I could be, but is anyone who's come into this school?"

So: "That sounds awesome! But..."

Sora looked at Rin and chuckled.

So: "While we can't do that now, we'll definitely reach that point! But until then..."

Sora put his fist up towards Ben.

So: "Fight me again sometime, yeah?"

Ben smiled at this gesture and lifted his own fist.

Be: "Of course, when you're at your best."

The two fist-bumped as Rin and Falchion stared at each other with a competitive but friendly glare, they were both ice users after all. Sora and Ben

So: "But right now... I'm beat... I've had like... 3 fights today... I'm all down to fight but... this is too much..."

The group chuckled.

With the crowd seeing that the fight had ended between the two they started to return to their own businesses whilst the group of 4 stayed behind with Ben talking to them. They continued on their walk around the school with Ben joining until the day had ended and the group had gone back to their rooms, a peaceful ending to a hectic first day.

Meanwhile...

Se: "This is much more complicated than I thought..."

Na: "How is there this many left even after what you told us..."

CK: "I told you... he hasn't been resting these few centuries..."

De: "But this is simply..."

CK: "We're only here to check on the situation. That demon has isolated himself somewhere deep inside his hold, no one knows what he is doing but..."

Se: "But?"

The Celestial King paused for a moment as if hesitating to speak.

CK: "I'm able to sense that Demon's energy more than anyone... although I would rather it not be the case I've fought against him too much to not memorize his aura specifically, and... well... his energy...

it's rising..."
