The firefighters all look on in shock as I continue forward, deeper into the burning fire. Every step I take, the fire dissipates more and more until nothing but smoke remains. I come to a stop in front of a large cross with a figure of Jesus on it.
The cross is completely untouched and sitting at the very bottom is a black rose. I slowly kneel down and pick up the black rose with a frown. What now? I look at the seemingly normal looking rose before looking back up at the cross before me.
I really don't like riddles... I'm more of the punching and kicking type of girl. I suddenly feel a prick on my finger, making me jerk. I look down at the black rose so see it suddenly turning white! I drop the rose and look to my finger but other than a small bead white of blood, it looks normal.
I narrow my eyes and use my magic to burn the blood away and heal the small prick wound when a pair of shiny black dress shoes appear in my line of sight. I look up to see Ambrose staring down at me with his dark black sunglasses on.
I brush my hands off and slowly stand up saying "Pretty brave of you to walk onto holy ground that was just burning." Ambrose gives me a knowing smirk and says "For the record, it was just burning with demon fire. I think I'm safe. I came here because I have something I need to urgently discuss with you."
I sigh and say "Can this wait? I'm kinda in the middle of something at the moment." When I look back to the others, Kian starts walking over with a hard look in his dark eyes. Ambrose tightens his smile before saying "Yeah, no. I wouldn't be out here standing in a church grave if it wasn't important."
I raise my eyebrows and lightly nod my head as I feel Kian's hand slide up my lower back before he says "Vampire" as a way of greeting. Ambrose raises a dark brow and says "Demon" right back. I sigh and say "Let me talk to Harris real quick."
Ambrose grits his teeth and says "Today Eris, today." I frown at Ambrose before I turn away and walk over to Harris. Harris nervously shifts from one foot to the other as I walk over with Ambrose and Kian closely following behind me.
"What was it?" Harris asks glancing at Kian and Ambrose before looking back to me. I shrug and say "An evil rose. Just throw it away. I need to head out but if anything else happens, call me." Harris frowns at me and says "Evil flower? What the... Hallows! Why was the church burned? Who did it and why?"
Because I can't really give him a straight answer, I wave to him as I walk over to the black car Amrose has waiting for us. Harris throws his hands up before cursing. He looks back to the mess left with all the firefighters looking at him in question. He curses again as I slide into the back of the car.
When the car pulls away, I turn to Ambrose and ask "What the hell is so important Ambrose?" Ambrose pulls his sunglasses off and says "You'll see..." Kian sighs from the front passenger seat as the car races towards Ambrose's club.
When the car actually stops outside of the club, I turn and frown at Ambrose. He keeps his mouth shut and slips his sunglasses back on before sliding out of the car. I follow with a sigh and walk inside the empty club with Kian by my side.
It's the first time I've seen it so empty and quiet. Ambrose doesn't stop, he slips his sunglasses off and keeps walking but instead of going to his office, he heads towards the back of the club with all the private rooms.
When he comes to a stop at the farthest room, he almost looks... nervous. I frown at him and ask "What's going on Ambrose?" He finally looks to me before saying "I honestly don't know anymore... I figured if anyone could figure it out, it would be you."
He reaches down and unlocks the door before pushing the door open. As I step forward and enter the room, I find myself coming to a sudden halt. The wall at the farthest end was... it was cracking. Not like a normal crack like you'd see from damage or foundation problems... it was cracking and a bright light could be seen shining through it!
What in the... I take a slow step forward as I ask "What did you do?" Ambrose snorts in disbelief before saying "Me!? I was thinking you had something to do with this like everything else in this town! One of my employees told me about this last night."
I step closer again as I ask "What's on the other side of this wall?" Kian steps up close behind me as he looks over the wall with sharp eyes. Ambrose sighs and says "I've already checked. It's the bathrooms and before you ask, no, the light isn't coming from the bathrooms."
I've been in the bathrooms here, I know first hand that the lights in the bathrooms are red so it can't be it. What in the world is happening now? As I step up to the wall, I lift my hand to get a better feel for it. Kian quickly grabs my hand and says "Don't touch it before we know what it is."
I keep my eyes locked on the wall as I mumble "How will we know what it is without touching it? I feel a faint touch of magic..." Kian sighs and says "I can't feel anything but with the way things have been going lately, I don't think we should get too close to it."
My frown grows as I say "It feels... familiar."
