141 Zero Time

After catching up and feeding my mother, she gets right to business. "What do you know about your father and brother's disappearance?" I bite the inside of my lip as I say "More like kidnapping but... not a whole lot."

She frowns in concern as I quickly say "Okay, when the evil hooded demon came in here and... you know... well, Dad and Liam went missing that very same day. A shifter traced the tracks all the way into the woods before it disappeared altogether."

My Mom quickly glances at Kian before awkwardly clearing her throat and saying "The shifter that I ran into that night when.." I quickly cut her off and say "Yes. that one." Kian's jaw pops before he decides to walk to the kitchen.

I give my mother a pained look but she shrugs and says "It's not like much happened! You two were just kissing!" I lift my hands and try to shush her and I glance towards the kitchen. I look back towards her and say "Are you sure you're happy he's in the family!? Cause it kinda seems like you're hellbent on running him off!"

I give her crazy eyes causing her to giggle as she says "If he's gonna be part of this family, he's gonna have to take you as you are. Mistakes and all. Besides, I don't think he's going anywhere..." She gives me a knowing smile before shaking her head and saying "Okay, let's be serious."

I give her a dry look as she asks "Can you trust what that shifter said?" I blink in surprise before slowly nodding my head and saying "He's kind of a pansy when it comes to women but he wouldn't lie about that. He has his faults but I don't see him doing something like that."

I hear something break in the kitchen causing my mother and I both to turn and look. My mother arches a brow before saying "Maybe we should double-check, just to be sure." I nod in agreement as I say "I can do that."

Before I even finish my sentence, I hear Kian say "Stay, I'll go take a look." I awkwardly rub my palms on my jeans as he leaves out the back door. My Mom waits for him to leave before asking "Did you date both of them at the same time?"

I gape at her and say "Of course not! I was never technically dating Xander." She frowns and asks "The shifter?" I throw my hands up and say "Yes! The shifter! We were never dating... we just... got close and I thought there was something but it clearly wasn't anything."

My Mom narrows her eyes at me and says "You mean to tell me, you were sitting in his lap, making out with him... lookin' like you were about to take it to your bedroom and you two weren't even dating!?"

I open my mouth to clear things up when suddenly, the temperature in the room drops. We both shiver in confusion before looking up to see Kian standing in the doorway of the living room! We both jump and suck in as he says through his teeth "What the shifter said is true... the trail is much older but it indeed just disappears..."

My Mom and I both slowly nod our heads as I softly say "Thank you..." He turns to me, dark red eyes burning deep with rage as he says "Of course, dollface. Anything for you." I nervously giggle as my mother says "Okay, so what do we know about the cloaked demon?"

I sigh in defeat and say "I've fought it once before. It's a bunch of demons... all in one. Tristan seems to have somehow created him or helped him in some way because the multi demon freak seemed to be helping him."

My mother frowns and says "That shouldn't be possible..." I nod and say "And yet, it is. My guess is it went around feeding on all the chaos and killings lately so he's stronger. He's loaded up and now he's laying low... for what, I'm not entirely sure but I do know it's scared of me."

My Mom nods her head and says "And for good reason. It's smart..." I nod and say "But something else is bothering me." When Kian and my mother both look to me, I turn and say "Tristan originally had you, Father, and Liam but when meeting with Enzo up here, he said that he now had you all. If he's dead and you've been returned... where are Dad and Liam?"

The house becomes silent as we all sit and wonder. I slowly stand up and say "If Enzo had them, would he keep them here on earth or would he bring them to hell?" Kian steps forward and says "Impossible. No living, non-demon being can survive going to hell. They would die..."

I frown at that...

That doesn't make me feel any better. My mother taps her knee as she says "So we can assume they're here on earth. If that's the case, we can try a locating spell." I frown and say "You'd need something from both of them and even then, it's not foolproof."

My mother shakes her head and says "I have something from both of them. Before I left with you, I grabbed something from both of them in case I ever needed to find them." I look at my mother suspiciously before nodding and saying "I guess being a creep pays off at times..."

She gives me a knowing smirk as she says "I'll be right back! I'm going to go grab it." I nod and watch her walk away but when I look over to Kian, I suddenly do a double-take on my mother and say "You know, I should really help you look for these things!"

Kian lifts one long and powerful leg, instantly blocking me from going down the hall after my mother. I slowly look over and give him a strained smile. He leans against the wall, both arms crossed across his chest while looking unamused as he says "Are you trying to run from me, dollface?"
