6 Chapter Five

I roamed through the forest, looking for a place to stay. Over the years, several students quit school once they bonded with their werewolf and got their soul masks, becoming loners or joining packs. I decided to become a loner. With my anklelet jingling against my foot, I felt much more confident.

Suddenly, I heard noise coming from behind a group of trees. I froze. I shifted. Sniffing the air with my keen nose, I padded to a tree. Peeking out, I saw there was a huge mansion. No, more like a palace. With a total of five stories, probably a roof and some basements too, I was awed. The mansion blended in with a forest. It seemed to be made out of wood and stone, and even had a few tree branches growing out of the windows and walls. There were about 10 stained glasses windows on each story. There was a front door, with a metal carving of a howling wolf sitting on a cresent moon glued to the door.

Wait. A howling wolf sitting on a cresent moon? That sounded like the charm on my soul mask...and...AND! Oh no, this was bad. This is VERY bad.

I just discovered the home base of the Blood Howls. The Blood Howls were the most powerful pack in the area. Every full moon, their pack would attack another pack and cover the ground in blood. After, they would stand directly in the blood of their enemies and howl at the moon, according to the eye witnesses. That's how they got their name.

Maybe I should get off their territory. I DO NOT want the Blood Howls as my enemy. Just as I was about the leave, the front door opened. Knowing that I should really get going, I took a few steps. But curiousity got the best of me. I went back to see. I gasped. The person was...

Daniel! Oh my gods. Daniel. Gentle Daniel was part of the Blood Howls?!? Well, he was probably the healer. But...wait. Where'd he go? I shifted back to human. Looking around, I stood up.

A hand firmly latched onto my shoulder. I opened my mouth and spun around. Daniel was there. His black piercing eyes were staring into mine. His lips gave a little smile.

"Surprised?" he teased.

"W-well, yes. How-how did you do that?!" I stammered.

He chuckled.

"You're a werewolf. You'll figure it out eventually."

"I'm-I'm a were- how did you know? Did you see?"

"Yep. Now let's go."

"Let's- wait-what, where are we going?"

He grinned mischievously.

"Don't you want to meet the rest of the pack?"

I know this chapter was short. I just realized I didn't update for a long time so I hurrily wrote something. I'm sorry. This next chapter will longer, I promise. But the wait will be slightly longer.
