"Ms. Stafford what makes you visit out humble Wang residence?", Jiang voice was reverent.
Damon was wearing a formal suit, all black. Two burly bodyguards stood stiffly around him. He looked so noble and regal like a true monarch. His presence was too much and made the people surrounding him feel an uncomfortable pressure.
"Why? Can't I visit my debtors?", he said with a wry smile.
"No-No-No, it's not like that!", Jiang fervently replied, "I was just saying that if you had informed us earlier we could make necessary preparations and I could personally receive you"
That man standing in front of him had the ability to shake the entire state in his name. He held formidable powers. How could Jiang say something to offend him? Specially when they were also his debtor.
But what Jiang said was not true.
All he wanted was not to let his little sister, Rosaline, see this person.
She was at home.
He still hadn't told her that he had sold her to this cruel man to save his father and Wang family. Whenever he tried to tell her, at the last moment he couldn't summon enough courage to reveal that terrifying truth to her and shatter her innocent world.
He didn't want to see tears in her eyes.
He didn't want to steal her pure and innocent mile.
Jiang quietly led that man to lounge as he fretted over how to make his cousin safely leave the house without seeing this man. He asked the servants to present refreshings. He sat on the couch to give him company.
Damon was quiet all the time. Even then his silence was domineering.
Jiang didn't dare to leave and sat obediently to attend him.
What if that man felt offended if left alone?
After all it was stated clearly in the contract that he could terminate it any moment. In that case, Wang family would have to pay a huge amount of money to him. If they were unable to do that, they would be behind the bars in no time.
And that man didn't need bars to torture them if he was offended.
He could simply order his men to wipe out Wang family in one night. No one would even question him. That was the kind of man he was. His influence and power far surpassed police and other government organizations. He was simply unrestrained.
Damon glanced around. But his eyes couldn't find the person they came for.
A cruel smirk formed on his thin lips.
Sooner or later she will have to face him.
"Where is Rosaline?", out of sudden he asked.
Jiang felt a rush of anger. If it was someone else who had held bad intentions and asked about his baby sister so bluntly, he would have shredded that man to pieces.
But he couldn't lay a finger on this man.
"She is not home", he replied bitterly.
"Isn't it weekend? How came she is not home on holiday", he asked in his cold voice that could pierce one's heart.
Jiang fists tightened.
"Ms. Stafford I hope you remember that it was stated in the contract that my sister must only enter your mention once she was twenty. I hope you honour your words", his voice was quiet and didn't reciprocate his anger.
After all if that man wanted to drag Rosaline out of her own home in front of his eyes, he didn't have the ability to stop that.
He didn't have the ability to protect her.
And that fact haunted him day and night.
"I'm not asking you to send her to my mention. I'm just asking you to tell me where is she without any lies", Damon said in a deep resonating voice.
Jiang felt a rush of helplessness. A heavy weight fell on his heart.
He looked down and said quietly.
"She is upstairs"
"I wish to see her"
It sounded like a polite request. But Jiang knew he couldn't turn down that request then no matter how much he wanted.
He took a deep breath and stood up.
"I'll bring her"
His eyes held immense hopelessness as he thought of things he was going to say to her. It was still too quick to tell her about her catastrophic fate. He would only tell her that he is an important man so she must be reverent in front of him.
