It was the day when her upcoming misery was revealed to her.
Her auntie had come to her room and slowly explained her everything. From the beginning to the end.
And only then she realized who that man was-what was his name.
Damon Stafford.
One wouldn't know the name of the President of the state but one would know his name. So naturally she was aware of that name. But that man never liked to make any appearance in media and no one dared to go against his wish so his face was not a familiar figure on social media or internet.
So she had never seen him before and therefore failed to recognize him.
And all the rumors she had heard about him were also not good at all.
He kept a lot of women. There was a rumor that he killed one of his mistresses just because she did something that displeased him. And there was a rumor he annihilated the whole family of his mistress because she cheated on him.
Rumors were not always true.
But at that time, Angelize was horrified so she inevitably believed them.
And when she was told that she was to go live at his residence as his mistress in a month time once she was at the age of twenty, her blood ran cold.
She couldn't believe it.
Her whole world shattered.
What about the great plans she had about her life?
What about the famous universities she applied for?
No!, a voice screamed in her mind.
"No auntie I'm not going to be his mistress!", she cried desperately.
Tears spilling down her face. Her heart clenched a as she felt suffocated.
How could she accept it? To be the woman of that terrible man?
Her auntie looked at her and pain filled her heart. She had nurtured Rosaline as her own daughter and no one more than her wanted Rosaline to fulfil her dreams and live the way she wanted to.
"Sweetheart we don't have a choice", she said softly and placed Rosaline in her embrace.
"No! No!", Rosaline shook her head and pushed away her auntie. Her tearful eyes were full of denial.
Her auntie sighed. Rosaline was always a kind-hearted person. She never failed to exchange her comfort for her family. But now Rosaline was truly shocked.
That was she was denying it.
Her auntie didn't worry about that because sooner or later Rosaline would come in terms with the reality and accept this relationship. It was just shock that had made her that way.
What was er Auntie worried the most was that what if Rosaline did something to offend that man due to her stubborn behaviour.
After consoling her all she could, her auntie left Rosaline to mend her heart on her own.
And gave her some time for her wounds to heal.
She would hardly come out of her room. Forget about smiling, it had been week since she last talked to them.
Her family members were getting worried about her.
"Did I do the wrong thing by not telling her?", Jiang asked in his raspy voice.
He had eye bags behind his eyes and had thinned a lot as he was skipping meals for some days.
Deep down he felt all the guilt on himself-on his inability to protect his sister. He had slapped his sister but it was the most hurtful thing he had done in his entire life.
And the grief was eating him alive.
"You didn't", his mom said in her gentle voice, "Look what she have made of herself in just a week. At least she lived last year in her carefree manner and happily. If we would have told her sooner, she would have been depressed the whole year"
"But what if she doesn't come out of her shock?", Jiang was worried, "Mr Stafford was already very angry at her behaviour the other day. It took me a lot of effort to make him leave without any hard-feelings. We only have three weeks till her birthday. If she still says that she doesn't want to be his mistress..."
"She won't", his mom said, "Rosaline is a very sensible and responsible person. She won't be putting her family name at risk"
Jiang was still worried.
At that time Rosaline finally came out of her room and walked down the stairs after a week of drowning herself into depression and self-pity.
