Karlos found them when Eva was just about to turn from the corner of the path in the woods.

He was quite startled.

He was surprised that he met his favorite author in such a place but also at Diego’s state.

Karlos kept him in his room nice and clean just a day ago but now he looked like he got robbed.

If someone saw him right now, they could misunderstand this and think that Diego was tortured here….Oh, he did get tortured by Max.

He overheard their conversation and guessing from it, Diego must have spent the night here.

It was ridiculous.

Why would he leave the comfy bedroom just to sleep here?

The Emperor could only wonder.

Maybe I don’t understand him because of the age difference?

Besides that, it was more ridiculous that he was scared of ghosts in broad daylight when he spent the night here.

Perhaps he is a little insane? Did Sabina hand him over because she couldn’t handle him?

Karlos suspected the neighboring country’s ruler and followed them.

Anyway, it was entertaining to listen to all these stories.

He smirked.

Aren’t the princes’ ghosts supposed to be witnessed in the Northern Snow Mountain if they did exist? They all died there

If they had the tenacity to come all the way here to just scare people here as ghosts, they deserved some praise.

But Karlos knew it was only crown prince Leroy who had that kind of tenacity.

He set that thought aside and reached his hands out to Eva, hoping his voice would not shake.

The small author was collapsed on the floor, looking up at him with big, wide eyes.

“Hello, Miss author. What are you doing here?”

“My a, angel! No, please! Get away from him!”

Diego shouted immediately.

Karlos turned to look at him.

Angel? What the hell is he talking about?

Diego looked back at him.

Miss author? What the hell is he talking about?

Eva thought for a while.

it was him!

“Karl!”

She joyously grabbed Karlos’ hands.

Karlos flinched but he made sure his face was not obvious.

Eva swung his big and rough hands up and down while still collapsed on the ground.

She was genuinely too excited to even think of standing up.

“Hello! Karl! It’s been a while! I was stuck in the novel! And I am lost! They kept giving me different directions! And I ended up here! Please teach me the correct way!”

Karlos didn’t miss the hint of teariness in her excited and frustrated voice.

She must have ended up here in the detached palace because she was lost.

Lesa’s palace was ancient and the roads were complicated, and there were still many places that used the old name despite its function has changed. So, people who first visited the palace hardly got to their destination correctly on their first try.

It was to the point there was an officer specialized in palace directions.

“Alright, I see.”

Karlos pulled her up.

He was a little surprised at how light she was.

He noticed last time when he caught her at the stairs last time but she was too light.

Eva looked back at him with surprised bunny eyes. He put even less strength in carrying her than Brigitta.

“And Di–dieyr.”

Karlos halted after almost calling him with his real name.

Diego was looking alternately at the two who looked like they knew each other.

Karlos wanted to smash Diego at how adorable he was, hiding the paper-knife on his back discreetly as soon as he saw him.

“I thought I told you to not go out anywhere…”

“I, I just went for a walk!”

“Do you take walks out from the chimney? Does Cartul have such a custom? I never knew.”

Diego flushed.

He knew whatever he said wouldn’t work.

His face drooped when he heard the angel beside him asked ‘the chimney?’.

Diego grunted and as if realized something, he lifted his face back up.

If that man was the man he saw yesterday, he was less scary than yesterday?

“Eva, this is Didieyr. Didieyr, this is author Evangeline. I don’t know how you met here but…”

That man named ‘Karl’ just looked like a normal man right now.

Just yesterday, he looked like a talking predator.

Diego could barely look at him yesterday because of his overwhelming aura but today he just looked like a scary-looking knight.

Was it because he was too tired yesterday?

“This place is not so pleasant so let’s get you out of here first.”

Karlos started walking towards the opposite direction of where Evangeline and Diego were walking to.

“It’s this way to go to the Training Courts.”

The huge man, and a blonde young man, and a small commoner woman.

They were definitely a unique group but they didn’t stand out in the palace.

It was because of the multiracial society policy that launched a few years ago, that many diverse people–and sometimes creatures–roamed the palace.

It was to the extent that they just looked like a group of a big, scary-looking guide and tourists.

“I walked towards the opposite direction…”

“It’s difficult the first time. You would have found the direction more clearly if you have asked the officers.”

Karlos felt a little embarrassed.

“Hehe, I arrived around lunchtime so…..”

“Oh…”

Food mattered more.

Karlos’s face stiffened.

“Heh, it was so embarrassing. I couldn’t get them to see me at all! But thank goodness I met you, Karl! Where do you work? Do you not work with Brigitta?”

Eva started chatting now that she was relieved to find someone she knew in this unfamiliar place.

Diego pouted his lips when he noticed Eva’s attention was now focused on Karlos but Eva didn’t even look at him once.

It was too obvious who she liked more between a messy nobleman she just met today and an old-time fan.

“I….uh, work in another castle. I met Didieyr yesterday where I work. Isn’t that right, Didieyr?”

“…That’s right.”

“It’s still my shift but I came all the way there looking for Didieyr. I think I have to return immediately to work after I send you there…”

Even though he met his beloved author, Karlos’s attention was directed towards Diego.

It was because he was worried if this flippant crown prince would escape again.

He was also weirdly bothered at how that kiddo was calling Eva ‘angel’.

Karlos just didn’t enjoy this situation in general.

Why did Diego have to hide there? But if he didn’t escape, he wouldn’t have met Eva, and Karlos would have not been able to help Eva too.

Karlos looked at Diego with mixed feelings.

He didn’t like Diego, but he still somehow liked him.

No. He definitely didn’t like Diego.

Diego started feeling uneasy at his glare.

“But what was that place?”

Eva frowned a little.

It was a really unpleasant place, almost creepy.

Karlos mumbled and gulped.

He decided to tell her the truth since he didn’t have much to hide there anyway.

“It was where they used to keep a monster.”

“What?”

“Wait, what?”

Diego surprisedly asked too.

Did Lesa’s palace have that kind of place?

Karlos shrugged at their intrigued eyes and continued.

A wind raveled through his hair and disappeared.

“So now it’s a place everyone avoids. Didieyr, you better avoid there from now on too.”

Karlos said indifferently but Eva was terrified.

Wait, so I just walked on the front lawn of where a monster lives? Why don’t they have any warning signs up on there! They didn’t even lock the gates!

“I, is it still there?”

“Ah… no. It’s not there anymore.”

Karlos scratched his head.

He was walking at Eva’s pace so there was still some time left until the Traning Courts.

He continued leisurely.

“Some ill-tempered man released it… Now no one uses it now. But it’s now considered almost like a forbidden place so it’s best not to go there again to avoid any rumors. Ah, but if you need inspiration or anything, I can arrange so–”

“No! It’s alright. I’m okay!”

Why would I got there again on purpose!

Eva shook her head.

“But Sir Karl. What happened to the monster then?”

Diego asked him. The crown prince’s eyes were sparkling with curiosity.

Well, the monster Glenn released became an Emperor.

But he couldn’t say that in front of Eva so Karlos shrugged instead.

“Whew, but it’s a good thing.”

“What?”

Karlos asked back. What did she mean by a good thing?

“For the monster, I mean. It wasn’t living that isolated from people but it had to live in captivity the whole time in a place with no doors until it was released right?”

It could have gone outside if it took just one step outside the garden with many fountains and high walls.
