2 Patience

It took a lot of time to end the operation. I took a glance at the delicate face of my patient who was now breathing through her oxygen mask.

I think sometimes is it normal for a person to cut open someone's chest, making your way by cutting the flesh, the veins....touching a living heart with your hands....bloods dripping... Won't they go insane? Maybe doctors have patience. They have tolerance. But do they lack humanity? My hands don't shake while cutting a man's body, I don't take my eyes away from an open wound, the smell of blood doesn't affect me....I don't know if it makes me less human for being like this.

They say when you are between life and death, your future depends only God and the hands of a doctors. Don't know if it's right or not but yes when you are lying on a operation bed while anesthesia keeping you unconscious and unknown to the fact what's gonna happen next, no matter who you are or how powerful your position is you are depended, depended on the doctor. Only He and the doctor can bring your soul back to the mortal world.

It's just how human nature is. We depend on each other. We are helpless maybe God made us that way. We are gonna always need someone.

I left the operating room leaving the last few procedure to the other doctors. I wanted to go to my resting room but I was feeling weak because of standing for a long time. I took a few steps towards my cabin but I understood I was going down. I heard this happened to other doctors before. Never thought it will happen to me as well someday.

I leaned on the wall while sliding down on my back. There weren't many people around. I only saw a little kid looking at me with great curiosity. I wonder what he must be thinking gripping his toy car hard until I heard Daniel saying my name...

"GRACE!!!! GRACE...."

His voice was fading slowly as I was closing myeyes. It was hard to keep my eyes open anymore. Darkness was embracing me....

Where was I going?

In a place where two Gods were standing face to face while one is mortal and the other immortal?
