5 Mischeif

"Mom!"I was shouting to find mum in the empty rooms of our house. I couldn't find her. I fell asleep myself while looking after her because I didn't get sleep for many nights. The sound of screaming,crying of my mother wasn't easy for a 8 year old to absorb. I looked at the balcony of her room again to see if she is there or not.

I picked up the phone to call dad when suddenly I heard the song.....

Mom was singing, the song she used to sing while brushing my hair when I was small, when I was upset about something, she used to sing me the song to make my anger go away. This song how can I forget this song.

"Mum!..." My voice cracked.

I started running to the roof. Roof what's she doing on the roof. My heart was telling me she will be fine, my mom is mentally ill but she loves me right. She will never leave me alone.....

Never...

When I reached the roof I saw mum was standing on the clif.I tried to say 'Mom' but nothing came out of my mouth only a whisper.

Mum did look behind at me, she was smiling like she will be finally free. I didn't see the pain I used to see in her eyes that moment.

"Mum..." I tried to reach her forwarding my hands towards her but she was gone....

"MUM!!" I screamed and woke up from my nightmare. The same dream again and again making me wake up from my sleep every morning. I turned off the alarm clock and got down from the bed. Today I have to go to the little girl's house to meet her.

Daniel wanted to come with me as that place is totally unknown to me. But I told him not to because I'm not a kid after all. He worries too much anyway. Though I told him if I sense any danger I'll come back as soon as possible.

After freshening up, I got ready and came to my dining room. Mark was already waiting for me there. I gave him a pat and gave him his food. Mark is my dog. I found him beside a road one year ago. He had a collar with the name Mark on it so I decided to call him that. Besides I'm a huge dog lover so I couldn't leave him there. Now I got no one waiting for me at home except Mark. Our little family is the reason I wanna live now.

I took a one last look in the mirror. I don't use heavy make up or anything ever. Rather I love being simple always. It feels natural and if someone likes you, he or she should love your real self not the one where you are trying to hide your flaws.

As I drove according to the address given by my assistant and reached my destination, I was a little surprised to see the big mansion in front of me.

The gate opened automatically, letting me enter inside the driveway. I stopped my car in front the house and got out. I knocked on the big artistic door which took a lot of time to open. But I wasn't expecting to see whom I saw in front of me.

"You here!" My mouth spitted it out before I could realize.

"Surprised?" He smiled mischievously.

"Um..yeah.." I said being surprised.

"Doctor, I should tell you something. Once you enter you might never get the chance to get out,"

"What are you saying.." before I could finish my sentence I saw the little girl coming to me running.

But suddenly she slipped and was about to fall on the floor. Without wasting a moment,I ran to her inside the house to catch her from falling down while he stood like a stone beside the door.

I caught her before she could fall while I heard him laughing like he was watching something funny. I looked behind with my eyes full of disbelief. How can he laugh!

He was the person whom I saw that day on the roof that day. The same blue eyes ,today it was full of excitement and glory like he just won a bet. Who was this guy? How heartless a person can be?
