"Do you think Superman will fail?"
Bruce Berman's tone is not good. This is a project he promoted. His investment is not big, and he has encountered a series of difficulties. Now he is on the right track, but he is criticized face to face. He is bound to fail. He is in a bad mood.
"Did I say that?" Murphy shook his head. "I don't know anything about Superman return. Even if I want to comment, would you believe it?"
"I'm talking about Christopher Reeve's Superman 4," Murphy said, easing the atmosphere in the conference room
"Well..." Bruce Berman nodded and turned to Batman. "I understand. Your idea is to break the tall image of Batman created by us and DC Comics for decades and let him fall to the bottom?"
"It can be said that" Murphy has no need to deny it. If the ideas can't be coordinated, there will be more problems behind it. "In addition to Batman's disguise, Bruce Wayne is first of all a human being, a flesh and blood man with ordinary human defects."
Bruce Berman doesn't want to listen any more, which is completely contrary to Warner Brothers' positioning of Batman, and also different from the first four films. The following is bound to be a super high risk, which neither Warner brothers nor Batman Series can afford.
There's never been a superhero movie like Murphy Stanton's, and there's never been a superhero movie with that style. Unless he's crazy, he'll take the other person's ridiculous approach.
He looked at Diego Harris, just as the other side looked at him, and they both shook their heads.
What else does Murphy want to say? After all, if he can win the Batman Series, his future will be more smooth.
But Bruce Berman stopped giving the chance and said, "director Stanton, we have a general understanding of your idea. That's all for today. After the discussion between Warner Brothers and DC Comics, we will give you an answer."
At this point, Murphy couldn't say anything more. She nodded, packed her briefcase, and was ready to leave with Bill rosis.
Unexpectedly, Bruce Berman asked the staff member to collect the previously distributed materials and directly push them to Murphy, "take these with you."
This has been very clear, very determined to tell Murphy that Warner Brothers and DC Comics have no intention of cooperating with him at all.
The two sides couldn't reach an agreement on the most basic production concept, and there was no way to talk about anything else.
"Well, Mr. Berman." Tucking away the information and stuffing it into her briefcase, Murphy stood up and reached out to Bruce Berman, "goodbye."
"Goodbye." Bruce Berman shook his hand, and his squinting eyes suddenly opened again, adding, "I wish you a better career in the future."
Murphy had been rejected by him, and immediately tasted something different from this sentence.
"Thank you." He calmly smile, also added, "I wish you to promote the" Superman back "to sell."
With that, Murphy bowed his head to Billy rosis, and they walked straight out of the reception room.
He has seen that the two sides are not just incompatible in ideas. Bruce Berman obviously doesn't like him very much. It's almost impossible for him to cooperate with Warner Brothers and DC Comics.
After Murphy and bill rosis left, the room was quiet for a while, and then a man at the edge of a long table said, "really don't think about it? I just read the plan and it looks good. "
"Is it necessary to think about it?" Bruce Berman looked over there and said, "it's just his own directing style, not to say that his setting of Bruce Wayne is unacceptable."
He seems to be saying to everyone, "have you seen the four films he directed? With a strong personal style! Do superhero movies need personal style? The production cost of this kind of special effects is not less than one hundred million dollars in the 1990s
"Bruce has a point," DC comic's CEO Diego Harris fully agrees. "This is Batman Series, not sin city. Such a movie must be a mass movie, not a small cut movie!"
"Murphy Stanton is really a very special director," Bruce Berman further said, "but the style is too small, he will only bring a disaster to Batman. If it fails, how many years will we have to seal the series for the audience to forget it? Ten years or twenty years? "
Others nodded, and Bruce Berman and Diego Harris made sense.
"And don't forget our capital chain." Bruce Berman easily found a lot of very reasonable reasons to cover up his prejudice against a person. "Catwoman, Superman's return and Troy have consumed a lot of our working capital, and we don't have more money to invest in a giant system."After hearing this, the previous person nodded and said, "this is really not the best time to restart the Batman Series."
However, his eyes under his tan glasses kept flashing. Obviously, he didn't agree with Bruce Berman's words, but he had a high weight on the position, which was not what he could fight.
"Our focus is still Superman back!" Bruce Berman said boldly, "as long as this series can be revived, our superhero movies will surpass the surprise. Don't forget, this is the most influential superhero Superman in the United States and even in the world
Murphy Stanton is not optimistic about the project he is leading. This is a joke. Does a cut director know how to make mainstream commercial films? Warner Bros. has invested more than $200 million in production costs. He has also recruited Brian singer, who is good at superhero film production
Even if the Batman Series is to be restarted in the future, it is necessary to find a director with successful superhero film experience like Brian singer, rather than a niche film director like Murphy Stanton.
"Well, that's it." Bruce Berman took the lead to stand up, "if CAA and Brian Lloyd call to ask, tell them that Murphy Stanton and Warner Brothers have different ideas, and the style is not suitable for the Batman Series."
He also left the conference room.
Outside the Warner Building, Murphy and bill rosis are in the same car.
"I didn't expect things to go so wrong," bill rossis said, starting the car and driving slowly into the main road. "Warner Brothers didn't give us any room for further contact."
Murphy threw his briefcase on the back seat and fastened his seat belt. "In fact, I had a bad feeling when I saw Bruce Berman in the conference room."
Hearing this, bill rossis remembered and asked, "you've met Bruce Berman before, and I feel he's aiming at you."
"When I was just out of prison, I applied for a job with the matrix crew," Murphy said without concealing. "Bruce Berman seemed to have a lot of power and refused me."
He told bill rossis about what he remembered.
"So it is," bill rosis nodded after listening to Murphy's description. "It's not surprising that you've made achievements now. If it's publicized, it will make some people underestimate his human vision. For a CEO who controls the major decision-making power of a film company, human vision is sometimes very important."
"Of course," he said with a smile, "Bruce Berman might just look at you. However, I think it's still you who accidentally talked about Superman, which may have aroused his deep disgust. "
As we all know in the industry, Bruce Berman is ambitious and wants to recreate the glory of DC comic films, especially choosing Superman as the world's first superhero as the breakthrough point.
Murphy felt innocent. "I didn't mean to allude to Superman's return."
He's not stupid, how can he somehow allude to this masterpiece in preparation, which is actually about Superman 4, which led to the interruption of Superman series.
"Warner Brothers and DC Comics refuse more firmly than Marvel comics," bill rossis drove to Beverly Hills. "Do you have a backup plan?"
"Of course Murphy didn't even think, "let's go back to marvel."
"Back to marvel?" Bill rosis shook his head. "They won't talk to us, they won't transfer the famous superheroes."
"I know, so we don't talk to marvel." Loosening the seat belt, Murphy looked ahead and said, "bill, you seem to forget that the copyright of marvel and many superheroes has been sold, but now you want to buy it back, but you can't get it back. The copyright of our new goal is in the hands of 20th century fox."
It's just a back-up plan. If possible, Murphy would prefer Batman. The problem is that copyright is not something he can decide.
"Let's go to Fox building." Murphy said, "go to Carla Firth."
When the car arrived in Century City, he called Carla Firth first, and then went directly to Carla Firth's office.
"Rejected?" It looks like Carla Firth's secretary sent you two coffee plans to change again
Murphy sat back on the sofa. On the coffee table in front of him, there were some information that Kara Firth had just read, which seemed to be related to crusades and so on.
"Do you mind?" Murphy asked, pointing.
"Whatever," Carla Firth came up and sat opposite him. "It's a masterpiece fox is preparing for in the 20th century." (to be continued). )( )
