358 Emergency Treatment 2

"Braeden!" Ailwin shouted as he was about to leave he chair again.

"Don't! I'm fine..." Braeden's strain and just barely above a whisper.

Ailwin looked to Kaze, to see him shaking his head. Braeden was losing too much blood, they needed to land soon or he won't be able to make the trip back home.

"Mika... Are we almost there?"

"What? No...why? What's wrong?"

"Braeden is not going to last much longer. He needs treatment…now."

Sigh...I knew that man was high maintenance. "Okay, make sure he is secure. I'm going to try to speed through the rest of the way to your army's camp."

"Thank you…"

Ailwin looked back and nodded at Kaze, who was tightening Braeden's seatbelt and adding more gauze to his wounds.

"Ready?" Mika asked.

Ailwin made sure Kaze was back in his seat before answering.

"...Yes."

Mika quickly planned out the quickest route to get them out of the city.

"Everyone, hold on." With next to zero visibility, Mika's attention was solely on driving.

Pushing the throttle, the two shuttles took off. Veering left and right, Mika maneuvered the two crafts around toppling buildings and unexpected explosions causing the two shuttle to sway and plunge over and over again.

When they could finally see the forest edge, Mika slowed down and put her radar back on to find the Shadow Wolves army air carriers.

"Your men are just ahead..." her hands, arms and shoulders were screaming in pain. The demands of getting the two shuttles out of the city quickly, left her body feeling exhausted.

"En...Let me, radio in so they don't shoot us down…"

Hearing that they made it safely out, Braeden couldn't hold on any longer and fainted away in his seat.

Kaze saw it and swiftly unbuckled himself to check for his pulse.

"Ailwin, we losing him…"

Ailwin turned around after talking to his captain, to see a sizable amount of blood on the floor and Braeden not responding to Kaze's calls.

"Shit! ….Mika, release us!"

Mika didn't questioned the urgency in his voice and just pressed the released button.

As soon as their shuttle was freed, Ailwin did a rushed landing in the middle of the Shadow Wolves army encampment.

Opening up the hatch, he shouted out for the healers to take Braeden away for emergency treatment.

The Shadow Wolves main air carrier is better equipped than the kit inside their shuttle, though it still doesn't have a healing pod. The healers would have to do his surgery by hand, which would take hours and would result in more recuperation time.

With Braeden being taken care of and seeing that his soldiers were safe, Ailwin took a look back at the hellish city. Bombs were still going off and the smoke and ash in the air was seems to be making there way towards them.

"Sir…" One of his captains came towards him, pointing at Mika's descending shuttle, "...what should we do about them?"

"Leave them be, they save my and General Gilwenys' life…" Ailwin gave a strict look to his captain.

"Yes, sir."

By the time Mika was able to land her shuttle, her arms had ultimately gave out on her. Her heart was pounding and her clothes were dirty and soak through with sweat.

She would need a good rest before she could make the trip back to the academy.

Opening the hatch for Hycis, Celaena and Nylian, they all ran out to throw up. The weaving and swerving, Mika had to do to get them out of the city caused them to get severe case of motion sickness.

Noticing the state Mika's companion were in, Ailwin call for one of his healers that wasn't working on Braeden to help them.

When the healer arrived with the medicine to soothe their stomach, they all gave a look of gratitude Ailwin's way.

Telling his captain to show them to spare rooms in the main air carrier, the three left the little shuttle behind.

Waiting around a couple more minutes, Ailwin began to worry about how Mika was fairing since he hasn't seen her come out yet.

Taking big steps, he entered the shuttle to see Mika still seated in her chair.

"Mikaela?"

"….hmmm?" Resting in her seat, Mika had her eyes closed. She didn't hear when Ailwin stepped into the shuttle until he was standing right beside her.

Staring down at the sweat and soot covered petite girl, who came back to save him and Braeden, Ailwin couldn't helped but to unbuckle her seatbelt and carried her out of the shuttle.

"What are you doing..." Mika's drowsy voice protested.

"You need a proper rest and you can't do that in that small space. Your friends have already been shown to their rooms, you are the last one… Don't worry, I'll have my men put your shuttle in our carrier's docking bay." Ailwin held her tighter in his arms when she tried to leave them.

"...okay." Mika was too tired to put up a fight.

Telling her nanos to lock the hatch, she let Ailwin carry her aboard his air carrier.

All the soldiers they passed were shocked and amazed by their Commander having a sleeping girl in his arms.

Word quickly spread.

Their Commander has never given a woman, let alone a young lady, a second glance and now he was carrying one into their Shadow Wolves aircraft.

The soldiers didn't know what to make of it. The captains didn't know what to make of it, even Ailwin didn't know what he was doing.

Seeing Mika exhausted in the chair, his first reaction was to get her into a safe place where she could rest to make her feel better. The only placed he could think of was on his ship.

However, now thinking better of it, it was probably a mistake on his part. Mika and the rest were no longer wearing their mask, everyone in their army could see their faces and he just scooped her up into his arms.

This might bring her more trouble, but he couldn't find it within himself to put her down.

In fact, even after they entered the carrier, Ailwin kept her in his arms all the way to his room.
