443 Chest of Treasures

Kamryn sat on her bed listening to her sister's pleads outside her door, for the fifth time this week. Her facial expressions didn't change at all at hearing Lula's somber voice.

She was throughly disgusted and done with her sister and Mother. She didn't care if Lula is tortured or dies by Lensa's hands. Since Lula's betrayal, Kamryn has long ago stop acknowledging her as her younger sister.

Touching her damaged left eye, Kamryn thought about her life in this palace since marrying Prince Thallan. She has been insulted, beaten and her left eye has been damaged.

These passed few days has been more enjoyable and peaceful than the whole time she has been married. Being able to recuperate quietly without seeing that evil witch has been a blessing; and the person she has to thank for that is not her mother, but Mikaela.

Thinking back to all the times she bullied and schemed against her youngest sister made her grimaced in pain.

Was I as bad as Lensa?

Kamryn didn't want to answer that question herself, instead she turned her thoughts towards surviving in this hellhole.

One thing Lula did have right in her pleas, is that when Lensa gets better, she will have a hard life ahead of her.

Touching her eye again, Kamryn came to a conclusion. If she wants to live, she will needs to escape.

On the other side imperial city, Mika was also enjoying the peace and quiet while trying to complete her research on the honey trees as she also monitors the King's situation.

Things were coming along nicely, in another month she was sure that she would have the cure.

Knocking on the door stopped her from checking one of her test.

Since she wasn't expecting anyone, Mika swiftly hid her materials away and answered the door to see and one eyed Kamryn, standing miserably at the door.

Mika wondered what did she do to have her oldest sister show up at her dorm room.

"Yes?" Mika asked when Kamryn didn't say anything for a few minutes.

"Mikaela...please help me." Kamryn spoke very softly in a low voice.

Mika didn't believe she heard her correctly, "Excuse me...I didn't hear what you said. Could you speak up."

Kamryn was debating why she even came here in the first place, but when she thought about going back to that palace with her sister, Lensa and of course, Prince Thallan. Her body shuddered in response.

"Mika, please help me." Lifting up her face, Kamryn implored her youngest sister for help.

"Help you with what?" Mika looked at Kamryn in boredom.

"I need to get out of the out of there….I need to get away."

"There? Meaning Prince Thallan's palace."

"En...please, I'll die if you don't help me." Kamryn started to cry, which made the bandage covering up left eye seep red.

Hearing Kamryn's cries in the hallway, many students began to peek out their doorways to see what was going on.

Reluctant to, but also she didn't want to draw attention, Mika let Kamryn inside her room.

Closing the door behind them, she gestured to the extra bed in her room and told her oldest sister to sit down.

She never expected her oldest sister to knock on her door, let alone beg for help from her. Mika wondered if there is something going on in the Prince's palace that she doesn't know about.

"Kamryn, tell me what is doing on?" Mika passed her a handkerchief to wipe her eye and blow her nose.

"Mika, it's been pure hell. I can't take living there anymore. Thallan isn't who I thought him to be and Lensa...Lensa is pure evil." Kamryn went pale thinking about the other female.

"Okay...but why come to me? How can I help you...and better yet why should I help you and your sister."

"No! I don't care what happens to Lula. I only came here for myself." Kamryn flared at the mention of helping Lula get out of any trouble.

"Even so, why should I help you?"

"I know you and Prince Ailwin are up to something, anyone with a brain can see that the King and his son are at each other throats. Plus, even though I have been staying inside a lot, I still have connections. I know your friends are going around talking to Lords and Madams." Kamryn stated.

Sh*t! Have we been moving too fast?...I'll have to talk with those three…

Mika knew that if Kamryn could find out that we had been conversing with Lords and Madams of different clans, then the King probably knows as well as.

Damnit, there goes my peace.

"So?" Mika didn't bother to deny her sister comments like Kamryn thought she would.

"Then you can help me get away-"

"Why. Should. I?" Mika spoke slowly enough for Kamryn to understand the words coming out of her mouth.

"….We were are sisters-"

"We haven't been sister since before you and your mother left the clan."

Kamryn swallowed her saliva, she had thought about this on her way over here. She knew it wasn't going to be easy convincing Mikaela to help her.

"I could tell the Kin-"

Mika held up her hand, stopping Kamryn before she could continue her words. "If you're thinking about blackmailing me with the what we just discuss. I just want to let you know that you wouldn't have to wait until Lensa or Thallan kills you because I can do that right here, right now."

The vicious look in her youngest sister's eyes, let Kamryn know that Mika would do it.

Dropping her first plan, she moved on to the second one.

Getting on her knees, Kamryn prostrated herself before Mika and apologized.

"I'm sorry for everything that I have ever done to you. I know this can't fix things between us...but I hope it can soothe some of your frustrations." Kamryn glanced up at Mika, who didn't say anything.

Building up her courage, Kamryn made her last appeal to get Mika's help.

"My mother has a chest full of treasure that Prince Thallan wants...I can get it for you."

"Treasures? Why would I want treasures that Prince Thallan desires?" Mika thought Kamryn was talking about gold and gems. Those things would be useless to her.

"The potion Lula poisoned you with, came from that chest. As well as the gem your ex-roommate use against you at the card game....The artifacts inside that chest are very powerful." Kamryn explained.

Mika was stunned that Lady Jealah has more of those things stored away, "If the artifacts are so great why don't you use them against Prince Thallan and Lensa."

"I don't know how to. I'll die before ever getting the chance to use the items." Kamryn said softly.

Mika didn't believe Kamryn's answer for one second, nor did she believe that this wasn't a trap. However, if there is a chance to stop Prince Thallan or another party from getting their hands on artifacts like that Gem of Wraith, then she couldn't possibly pass up the chance.

"Okay. Get me Lady Jealah's chest, and I'll get your freedom."
