452 Drannor Knocking On The Door 2

The banging of swords and axes were soon heard hitting Lyra's front gate. The servants who came out to see what was happening, yelped in fright.

Lyra looked around her, she didn't know if she could protect herself, Thalia and the servants in her care at the same time. "Go back into your rooms, locked the doors and stay there until I say otherwise."

"Yes, Lady Lyra." They breath a sigh of relief that Lyra didn't tell them to stay and fight whatever foe is outside.

Ordering the staff back to their rooms, she looked around her in an effort to come up with a plan that can hold Drannor and his men off until help arrives.

However, just when she thought of something, the noise on the other side stopped for a moment. All was silent. Then distressing shouts greeted her ears before the cries of a slaughter filled the air.

Mano didn't leave his two loyal wives, Lyra and Thalia, unprotected. In fact, from the time Lyra warned him about his eldest brother, Cohnal. Mano had immediately sent hidden guards to watch over both their courtyards.

When Drannor and his men showed up at Lyra's courtyard, the hidden guards had made their way secretly around the group to surround them. The minute they started to tear down Lyra's front gate they moved in, attacking them in full force.

Lyra stood just beside the door as the banging on her gate stopped, and sounds of swords clanging together in battle were heard. She didn't know if it was Mano or another enemy.

In a few short moments, it was over and the only sound coming from the other side now was Drannor's scared voice.

Lyra could hear Elder Drannor begging for his life.

"Please...Plea..se...I can give you any...anything you want...just don't kil-ack!"

The gagging sounds of someone choking on their own blood was heard before everything went silent.

Lyra didn't want to open the gate, but she also wanted to know what happened.

Standing there debating with herself, she jumped when someone knocked on the door again.

"….."

Grabbing her short sword tightly in her hands again. Lyra walked towards the gate in the same manner she did last time.

"Lyra?" Mano's voice called out from the other side.

Realizing Mano is the one who took care of Elder Drannor, Lyra cracked opened that gate.

Peeking out she could see several soldiers dragging bodies away.

"Is it all done?" She asked looking at Mano.

"En, we are just taking care of the last few remaining individuals. Stay inside until I say otherwise."

Just as Mano finished talking, Pia arrived at the courtyard shocked and confused.

Taking one look at Lyra and her personal maid, Mano turned away with his men.

"Get inside quickly." Lyra ushered Pia in.

Once inside she questioned Lyra on what happened, "The bodies outside…"

"Elder Drannor. What happen to Cohnal?"

"Dead."

Lyra nodded her head she figured as much, considering Mano was just here.

Glad that this whole situation will be over soon, she walked back inside. However, she soon felt the ground shake and the skies go dark.

Looking up a huge vessel block out the sun as it few over her courtyard. Lyra had a bad feeling settle in her heart.

Two days before her clan was about to face a coup, Mikaela had been researching everything she could find on Princess Tiriana.

Wondering why King Rychell would call for his daughter of all people to the palace, she looked for anything that could be a clue. It wasn't until she a crossed a very interesting find about the Princess, that she felt all her work might finally lead to something.

Princess Tiriana is a master in making charms and potions.

Is Tiriana part of the King's research team? She guessed.

Just when she was about to make head way, a message was delivered to her monitor.

Dear Soon-to-be Daughter-in-law

I would like to have dinner with you. Please come to the imperial palace tonight.

King Rychell.

"Sh*t." Mikaela stopped everything she was doing.

She knew if she didn't go to his dinner that would be the icing on the cake for the King to do something against her. However, she couldn't just offer herself up on a silver platter to him.

Caught in a bind, Mika was trying to think of a way to get herself out of this situation when another message came in, this time from her mother.

Mika,

Trouble at home. Cohnal planned a coup.

Reading the message, Mika wondered what are the possibilities that she would be facing trouble from the King and her clan would be going through a coup at the same time. Coincidences like this, she didn't believe in.

Is this a trap, set up by the King and his people?

Pacing around her dorm room, she thought about what the King might be planning and if it is related to her clan's situation right now.

If the King did plan what is happening at the Amara clan right now, what is his goal?

Mika pondered for a while before coming to many answers that could be the reason for the situation right now. One is being, King Rychell wants his youngest son to suffer and the Amara clan is his only known supporter and his fiancée clan.

What deal did Uncle Cohnal make with the King? Did he offer up the clan in exchange for being clan head?

Thinking back on her memories of her eldest uncle, Mika wouldn't put it pass him to do such a thing.

Damnit! It sucks when you have a f**k up family!

Mika slammed her hands down on her desk, frustrated with her relatives.

Glancing at her monitor, she read the two messages again, one from the King and one from her mother.

Should I go to the palace or should I go home?

After staring at screen for a few more minutes, she knew what she was going to do.
