18 On the Airship

Soon after Netero and Menchi spoke, they were on the airship heading to split mountain. Menchi said the dish they were serving would be boiled eggs.

When they arrived at the mountain, Yuuki took a peak down the giant ravine cutting through the middle. It was very deep. She could see the spider eagle eggs down there. She wondered what they tasted like, they were supposed to be very delicious and she couldn't wait to try one.

Menchi showed the participants how to retrieve the egg by climbing onto the web and then climbing back up. Gon and the group quickly jumped down followed shortly by other participants.

"You don't have to do it, you know." Menchi said, "I already passed you."

"But can I do it anyway?" Yuuki asked.

"Why?" Menchi replied, obviously confused.

"They're supposed to be really delicious right?" Yuuki said with a smile, "I'm not relying on one of them to share it with me."

Yuuki then leapt down onto the webs below. She hung from a strand and made her way across to an egg. It's kind of like the monkey bars, she thought, I was never any good at those though. She grabbed an egg and made her way to the side of the cliff then climbed back up.

Egg acquired, she thought and placed her egg in the pot with the others.

Menchi stood in front of them holding two eggs, "This is a regular egg and this is a spider eagle egg, see the difference?" She asked, "They taste very different too."

Yuuki bit into her egg and a rush of flavour filled her mouth, it was amazing. Much better than a regular egg.

"This is the taste we risk our lives for!" Menchi said proudly.

When everyone was back on the airship they were gathered around Netero. He gave a speech about who he was and the fact he had to come sooner than expected. Yuuki wasn't really that interested.

"We should arrive tomorrow around eight at the next trial grounds," the assistant Beans said, "You are free to do whatever you want until we arrive."

Finally freedom, Yuuki thought, now where are Gon and Killua. She looked around. No! They've already disappeared! She walked up to Kurapika and Leorio.

"Did you see where Gon and Killua went?" She asked.

"They said they were going to go on a tour of the vessel," Kurapika said.

"Without me?" Yuuki said in a hurt tone, "How could they just leave me with you two?"

"Wait, what's wrong with us?" Leorio yelled angrily.

"Nothings wrong with Kurapika you're just an old fart!" Yuuki yelled back, running away, "See ya!"

"I'm only nineteen!" Leorio yelled.

Yuuki ran around the airship searching for Gon and Killua and she soon found them sitting on a bench looking out a window. They were talking to each other intently. Should I really ruin their bonding time? Yuuki thought. Yes Yuuki, yes you should.

She quickly ran up to Gon and leapt at him, "Gon, How could you abandon me?" She asked, "Leaving me with Kurapika and Leorio."

"What's wrong with Kurapika and Leorio?" Gon asked.

"There no fun!" Yuuki stated, "Kurapika is always so serious and Leorio is just, well... let's go with too old." Although I'm technically older than him, she thought.

"Ok, wanna join us?" Gon asked.

"You should really try to argue a little Gon," Killua said.

Yuuki stuck her tongue out at him then sat on the bench, "Wow, a great view of the city!"

"Yeah it looks like a diamond," Gon said.

"Still can't beat the look of the stars from the island though!" Yuuki said.

"So have you guys never left your home island before then?" Killua asked.

"Nope." Gon said.

"Not even once!" Yuuki said, "It would've been super boring if Gon wasn't there, there isn't a lot to do."

"Do you live in a city then Killua?" Gon asked.

"Well, not really, me and my family live on top of a mountain," Killua said.

"That's pretty cool, you must have a great view from up there!" Yuuki said.

"Well yeah, I guess," Killua replied.

"Killua, do you have parents then?" Gon asked.

"Huh? Yeah, of course I do." Killua replied.

"What do they do?" Gon asked.

"They're assassins!" Killua stated.

"Both of them?" Gon asked in surprise.

Killua started laughing, "That's the first time someone's taking me seriously when I've said that."

"Really, where you lying?" Gon asked.

"No, but that's not the point!" Killua said.

"He's right Gon, normally you would question something like that," Yuuki said.

"You didn't question it either," Killua pointed out.

"Well that's cause I believed it," Yuuki explained, "You totally look like you would kill a guy!"

"What?" Killua questioned.

"What? You aren't one too?" Yuuki asked.

"Well, yeah," Killua asked. "At my place everyone does assassination, that's the first time someone's told me I look like I would kill someone though."

"So how come your taking the Hunter exam then?" Gon asked.

"My family puts a lot of pressure on me. I don't like them deciding what I'll do with my life. They got super mad when I told them that I'll decide my future myself." Killua said with a serious expression, "My mother started crying and said I was made for this job. Long story short, I stabbed my mum and brother and ran away! I bet they haven't even healed yet!"

"Brutal." Yuuki said.

"What, they're bad people ok?" Killua replied defensively.

"Sure..." Yuuki muttered.

Gon laughed.
