Another morning arrived.
Lancelot had gotten up early to pay William a visit. He wanted to express his gratitude to the Lord for saving his life.
He would not talk about other matters.
Lancelot’s affinity for William increased rapidly to more than 600 points. They became good friends.
Initially, William wanted to find out about the Temple Messenger’s conversation. He wanted to know what the Temple Knights were doing near the City of Dawn.
Why were many evil bounty hunters being led here? They were a great threat to the City of Dawn.
Lancelot hesitated for a while. But for the safety of the residents of the City of Dawn, he divulged it. There was a Devil’s Den nearby, and inside it was an Abyss Altar.
As he listened to the new information.
William became worried.
In his previous life, he had not obtained such information and never heard of such history.
The Devil’s Den was not a big deal. In this game version, this small area map could not have a large Devil’s Den. This kind of small Devil’s Den existed in all parts of the world. Dark creatures inhabited these caves, and it was a good place for players to fight monsters…
However, the Abyss Altar, it was a big deal. At least one anti-human NPC guarded such an cave
The more powerful the NPC was, the lesser were the numbers of creatures required to guard the cave.
In version 2.0, the invasion of the dark forces happened because of the proliferation of anti-Human warlocks, mages and sorcerers in the legendary continent.
They fell to the dark side and constructed the Abyss Altar in the Devil’s Den. They sacrificed live creatures to the darkness in exchange for dark powers.
If they had not invited the devils, how could darkness invade the world at such a fast pace?
“Have you almost found the location of the Devil’s Den?”
Lancelot looked at the heavy-hearted William and nodded in despair. He said, “Yes. It is located 50 kilometers southwest of the city. If you’re observant, you can discover a path to it.
“I had been leading a team towards the valley when we were ambushed by those bounty hunters…
“Of course, I say for sure that there is a Devil’s Den in the valley. But I’m sure that my intuition is correct because of the dark presence.”
“Is that so! But aren’t you the Temple Knight of the City of Dawn?” William was perplexed.
“Oh… I belong to the Temple of Light of Iron Nation. My home is in the Northeast!”
“…” William went into deep thought. Lancelot’s home was in the Northeastern part?
Lancelot has the bloodline of the Empire. After joining the Temple, he came here to train and gain experience.
It was the reason for Lancelot’s fast ascent in the Temple. Even if he was a righteous knight, he still had to depend on relations for his meteoric rise.
But it was just William’s wild speculation. In his previous life, he had not found out about Lancelot’s background.
There were many knights in the Temple of Light. There were bound to be some knights who were both righteous and possessed a respectable bloodline.
But why was Lancelot the final victor…
There must be something good about Lancelot…
William wanted to find out, but Lancelot was unable to fight.
It was not because of his wounds. Lancelot was regarded highly by the Temple Messenger as his performance had been excellent. He was willing to sacrifice himself righteously for his teammates. William had confirmed the existence of the Devil’s Den.
The Temple would want to catch the traitor in their midst and find out why the bounty hunters were laying an ambush in advance!
Then the Temple would deal with the Devil’s Den problem.
There were so many Devil’s Dens on the legendary continent. The Temple of Light was unable to destroy all of them. Even if Lancelot did not tell him about the Devil’s Den, the Temple Messenger would still inform William so that he could deal with the problem.
Meanwhile,
The bounty hunters had dispersed as if they did not know each other. They were just hunters paid by the same employer to carry out the mission. If they were a team, they would not allow the death of Crazy Dragon Follower to occur.
The bounty hunters were wary of each other.
Morning came.
It was raining lightly.
The forest was shrouded in mist. Nobody took note of where the dark warlock Casa was heading when he left.
In a while,
Casa appeared in the valley that Lancelot told William about.
In the thick mists, for anyone else it would be hard to discern the paths. But to Casa, the place was familiar.
Many creatures lay hidden in the darkness. Hundreds and thousands of red and green eyes existed and inspired fear. However, Casa was not affected.
He walked in the winding valley for a long time until he reached a specific bush. He removed it and entered a dark cave. He met with a black-robed warlock and respectfully greeted him.
The senior dark warlock said in a hoarse and mellow voice, “How did the mission go?”
Casa shook his head and said, “This group of people were half-hearted in their job. They had a chance to kill the last three enemies but they held back, and let them escape.
They then encountered the Lord of Light who killed the Crazy Dragon Follower. They decided to retreat, and now expect us to put out a bounty again.”
The senior dark warlock laughed coldly and said, “Humph! What greedy fools!”
His face, covered by the black robe, glimmered with a green eerie light. He asked curiously, “What do you think of the Lord of Light? I’m surprised that he could kill the Crazy Dragon Follower!”
“I cannot figure him out. He had a powerful move that could span space and dimension. Otherwise, the Dragon Follower could have evaded the fatal blow with his strong constitution and agility.
“However, I felt the presence of his soul very strongly…” Casa was baffled.
“He’s an interesting character,” the senior dark warlock said as his eyes glimmered with a green light. He did not expect William to survive his attacks.
In just half a year, William had become like another person. The City of Dawn expanded rapidly under his rule.
The power of the City of Dawn had grown to such a state that the warlock did not dare to make any move against the city.
“Since the City of Dawn knows that we’re here, they’ll attack us. That is good enough…” The warlock who was hidden by the dark robe smiled faintly before he vanished into the darkness, contemplating on the matter.
Casa watched the senior warlock leave. He leaned on the wall and exhaled.
“We are dark warlocks.
But our levels are so different.”
The dark warlock who had taken his leave was an eight-star bounty hunter!
And a dark warlock who was about to upgrade to a high level…
The large scale expansion of the City of Dawn exterminated many magical beasts, animals and races.
A few unfortunate creatures managed to escape from the pursuit of the City of Dawn. But the fate that had awaited them was being turned into sacrificial offerings instead.
Casa did not know what the senior warlock was going to do.
He had been offering sacrifices day and night but he had not gained any power. Instead, the dark creatures proliferated and became stronger.
And not to speak.
The deepest end of the Devil’s Den manifested thousands of undead.
“Is my teacher inciting a war? This… this is not beneficial for a dark warlock.” Casa could not understand. Their main goal as dark warlocks was to gain power by offering sacrifices.
The dark creatures could be summoned to the legendary continent but it was a great loss for them.
The young Casa was still inexperienced.
How could he know that the senior warlock was going to offer the Dawn Army as sacrifices?
If William knew about warlock’s plan, he would tell the warlock to come for him instead of the army.
“Come and offer the City of Dawn for sacrifice. I’m waiting for you to start the war. I’ll let you sacrifice an all-rounded Enchanter and a Space Archmage as well. I welcome you to offer the sacrifices…”
