Chapter 103 - Iron Doll

The night of terror had not caused chaos in the City of Dawn.

The mission to eliminate spies did not spread to the innocent public. William’s discerning eyes were no joke. He was exactly able to tell who the spies were.

With time, many spies had slowly gained an affinity with him, but he was too lazy to control them. If not, were his endowments for nothing?

The spies would not be too dangerous. Before the war broke out, they would be neutral like the Winged people, the race which the City of Dawn had an alliance with. But other than the few Winged people in the City of Dawn, there were no neutral merchants or the likes of them. Thus, as long as they were neutral, they had to die.

The spies in the Honor Legion had been easily brought under control as after William had chosen them, they had lived in the City of Dawn for a period of time. The various policies, as well as the attempt to make glory last forever, were impressive plans and surely enchanted them.

With a long period of nurturing his people, William gained even more affinity. These people seemed neutral, but they technically belonged to the Iron Nation.

Most importantly, without 1000 affinity points, it could not be considered true loyalty. True loyalty did not mean that they would not rebel. Abusing pets that had 1000 affinity would obviously cause their loyalty to drop. They might even run away. It was something to be considered.

William had his endowments, but he could not control everyone. Furthermore, the hearts of people were not things that could be represented in numbers. There were too many things to consider.

There were over 3000 spies. Who could ensure that they had at least 700+ loyalty?

And even if their loyalty went past 700, as time passed, William’s endowments would weaken.

In particular, William’s endowments were very important in this war with no clear end.

When the people of the city woke up, they found the sight of bloody heads hanging from the east wall. 2000 human heads were displayed. This early morning sight seemed like a horror scene from an Apocalypse movie. Many people got scared to the point of almost wetting themselves.

When they saw the notification, they understood what had happened last night.

And that morning, out of the five legions of the City of Dawn, three had disappeared.

Only the Honor Legion and the Guardian Legion were left in the city.

The military camps had been built at the borders of the city in order to not disrupt the lives of the civilians in the city. Besides, it would facilitate fast gathering and dispatching of troops. They could even climb up the city wall and guard the city.

As a result, when the three legions left at 3am, almost no one noticed.

The main reason why the Honor Legion had not been dispatched was to conceal the 500 spies. They had been sent to the mines to be guarded. It would cause the Iron Nation to think that they were dead, and these spies might even be able to bring their family over in the future.

The three legions, plus William’s subordinates, brought the total number of soldiers to over 9500. A black line stretching over ten thousand meters had formed due to their formation. They rushed to the east through the cliffs.

They headed to the military fortress 15 kilometers away. They could not hide their movements from the spies for very long. Even if the spies did not send any magical scrolls for a long period of time, the Iron Nation would start suspecting that something was not right. Thus, time was of the essence, and they acted immediately.

“The Iron Nation’s military fortress has not been completed, but the city wall that has been constructed is 20 meters tall and seven meters thick. It will be able to stand two waves of soldiers.

“Furthermore, the city wall is very short. Even though there is only one legion in the military fortress, they can fully guard the military fortress if they take rows guarding.”

“If we want to take down this military fortress, we would have to suffer many injuries.” As the intelligence head of the City of Dawn, Alec explained the details to William.

William did not comment. He raised his hand and narrowed his eyes. “How thick is their city gate? I remember that it is only 23 centimeters thick, with a three-centimeter thick layer of iron. It has not been enchanted, right?”

“The city gate?” Alec was dumbfounded. He quickly nodded his head. “Lord, you are right. They have indeed not enchanted the gate. But you only asked us to bring city-attacking ladders, not city-attacking hammers…”

“City-attacking hammers? Heh, heh!” William suddenly issued a command. “Where are the two idiots who should die? Come out!”

Subsequently,

The ground trembled.

And two tall figures walked out from the crowd.

One of them was a level 65 Bloody Crusher. The other was a cruel-looking Troll with a strong body.

But,

The Troll had a massive A-shaped epic quality helmet on his head!

Lautner and the rest were dumbfounded. What was happening?

William snapped his fingers and pointed at the level 55 Troll. “City-attacking iron doll. Do you think that if a mage blesses him, he will be able to break through that seemingly unbreakable door? He will have a 100 meters distance to run to gain momentum.”

A group of people gulped and looked at the Troll.

He was almost four meters tall.

And weighed over 3000 kilograms. He wore a suit of durable armor, as well as a specially-made helmet.

They had trouble holding back their laughs.

It might be possible!

But,

If he was going to run into the wall, even if the Troll did not die, he would get a concussion.

But William did not care…

He treated the Troll, who he had enslaved using spirit magic, as an expendable one-use-only item.

Although the Troll had a master bloodline, he lacked skills. He had much fewer techniques than a Bloody Crusher.

It could be said that William had prepared all his trump cards in order to swiftly take down the military fortress. He had brought a Troll with a legendary bloodline and equipped it with an epic helmet. It was a heavy price to pay.

William’s declaration of war would definitely reach the ears of Augustine and Goethe Nasis, but he did not care.

The Iron Nation had prepared for this dragon-slaying battle for far too long.

Augustine was also a legendary figure who would not retreat until he achieved his objectives.

He would not give on that dragon-slaying mission and hurry back to provide support, just because his military fortress was under attack.

Since he had prepared for it so much, he would definitely slay the dragon and bring back its corpse in victory. And afterward, they would send a new legion together with the Iron Nation to attack the City of Dawn.

Thus, William had to act quickly!

Augustine had departed the night before. If time continued to drag, no matter whether Augustine succeeded or failed in slaying the dragon, due to the butterfly effect, William would lose too many benefits and chances.

When the Dawn Army was 2.5 kilometers away from the military fortress, the guards from the Iron Nation noticed them. They were not a force that the Elfin ranger guards could defend against.

But most importantly, they had not marched through the forest. Instead, they walked on the field along the cliff.

With this obvious form of travel, the Dawn Army could not be too arrogant…

At that moment, soldiers had lined up on the city wall. In the front were guards, and behind them were archers. The catapults were ready, and some heavy-duty crossbows had also been moved to the wall.

They had no choice, as an attack tower had not been constructed yet. They could only place the heavy-duty crossbows on the wall.

As the commander of the 13th legion, Brandt furrowed his eyebrows. He cursed the intelligence department of the Iron Nation for being idiots.

He had heard that the leaders of the Iron Nation had planted thousands of spies in the City of Dawn. And among them, at least 20 people had transmission scrolls!

If the City of Dawn dispatched troops to attack the military fortress, the spies in the city would definitely be alerted, including the spies in the Honor Legion.

“But these idiots have come all the way here to our doorstep, yet I have not received any information. Are you telling me that the Dawn Army is coming to help us slay the dragon?” Brandt clenched his fist. He had just sent out the information, but he knew that Augustine would definitely not come back to help.

And it would take at least eight hours for the support troops from the Iron Nation to arrive. This meant that he had to lead 3000 soldiers to endure until then.

He glanced at the thousands of slaves, who were trembling in the city. He did not think much of them.

Perhaps there could be professionals among them.

But they had not gone through any training, and they did not have any equipment either. They had low combat power and could not climb up the city wall. And even if they did climb up the wall, they would only create more trouble. He could only make them transport arrows and do manual labor.

Thus, he glared at them and roared, “The troops from the City of Dawn have dared to fight us. Kill them! Don’t leave anyone behind!”

“Kill!” 3000 people shouted in unison. Their voices were deafening.

The Dawn Army, which was thousands of meters away, could hear them clearly.

William looked at the military fortress, which had been made entirely out of stones and iron. It gave off an oppressing aura, like a massive magical beast sitting on a cliff.

He gently waved. The flag was raised.

The three legions swiftly went into position.

3000 guards marched to the front and elegantly advanced according to the orders!

The short-haired William led them.

He was like a rhino who had been waiting to charge. He ran faster and faster…

The ground underneath his feet started to crack. A whir appeared in the air, and he went faster and faster. It was as if he had turned into lightning. He kicked up a storm and slammed into the city gate!

Bang!

He angrily stabbed a sword, surrounded by thunder battle energy, into the iron city gate!

The five-meter tall city gate started to tremble.

A visible crack appeared on the gate!

But when Brandt saw this, his heart rate that had skyrocketed fell down. He laughed in disdain. “How much battle energy do you have? How were you able to carry out that attack?”

William shrugged his shoulders and rubbed his numb hand. He silently leaned against the city gate.

With that…

A giant wearing iron armor walked out from the formation. Like William, he also wildly ran towards the city gate.

Brandt suddenly understood. He rubbed his eyes. “What?”
