Chapter 131 - Ambition As High As the Sky

Why had William gone to Rhine City and caused a massacre?

He wanted to prove his own strength, as well as his resolution against the Iron Nation.

The assassination that was known by almost everyone was his proof of allegiance. It was the foundation of his cooperation with Nedrick.

The Iron Nation was causing trouble at the border, and it had created a tense situation. It felt as if they were about to attack. But this was all a deliberate ploy by the Iron Nation, just a delay tactic. Their desire to delay the war was greater than that of the Black Lava Nation.

Goethe Nasis needed to settle the rest of the aristocrats, and he also wanted the chosen ones to serve in.

While dragging time seemed to be beneficial to both countries, the more time the Iron Nation received, the more stable their domestic situation would become. With more military power, the Iron Nation would become even stronger. But if the Black Lava Nation disregarded some of their losses and initiated an attack at the current time, the results yielded would be better.

Of course, Nedrick knew what was happening in the Iron Nation, but he was not daring and resolute. He wanted to use gentle methods to settle the issue of the throne.

William, an outsider, had pointed out this secret. Of course, he knew that time was tight. If he could send his troops out, many unexpected things could happen.

For example, the unhappy aristocrats in the Iron Nation might get the courage to rebel.

In the black palace.

Nedrick looked at the sand table. He smiled subtly. “If we are able to bring down the Iron Nation, why does the lord of the City of Dawn think that I will give him one-third of the winnings?”

Renekton said in a low voice, “Considering the numerous chosen ones and his identity, as a neutral Lord, he will definitely not want land.”

“Do you think that if 500 thousand chosen ones appear on the battlefield, they will be able to destroy a legion?”

Renekton said, “No. The chosen ones are like scattered grains of sand. They are no match for any legion.”

“Even though they could revive after dying, I have observed them. Some of them no longer want to fight after dying several times. Their strength has also decreased. This means that they are cowardly.”

“Then do you think that Marquis Chris will actually listen to him?”

Renekton hesitated slightly. He said, “No. But in face of the overall situation, Marquis Chris will be completely loyal to you.”

Nedrick laughed. He laughed very happily. “A half-elf with a tainted bloodline? Why should I share my winnings with me? If I place the winnings on my territory, will he dare to send troops over to steal them?”

“My King, you are brilliant.” Renekton knelt on the ground. His gaze was full of admiration.

William did not know what Nedrick was thinking. He did not care about whether he would hold up to their agreement.

He arrived at the home of a Count.

A young man dressed in a black, elegant robe was pouring tea and alcohol for him.

William drank the fruit wine and laughed. “Curry, you are a Count. If you do this, people would think that you are shameless.”

Curry glanced at the female slaves, who were dressed scantily. He waved at them and asked them to go down. Then, he smiled. “Lord, I respect you like how people respect gods. It is not something that can be expressed through pouring tea and alcohol. I hope that you will understand.”

“Curry!”

“Yes.” Curry heard William’s strict tone. He immediately got up and walked beside him.

William played with the wine glass. Suddenly, he said, “Do you just want to be a Count for the rest of your life?”

“Thud”

Curry gulped. He was touched and said, “I still want to be a Marquis…”

“Just a Marquis?” William sighed in disappointment and got up. But just as he was about to leave.

“Lord!” Curry suddenly knelt in front of William. He clenched his fist and said in a low voice, “I have 1000 soldiers under me. They are not very strong yet. I know that one’s ambition is associated with how strong they are.”

Then, Curry’s eyes sparkled as he looked at William. “But I believe in you, Lord. If you support me, I will be able to stand at a higher ground and see even further. I believe that you will not allow me to just be a Marquis.”

William sat down on the chair. He pondered. “Then what do you think I should make you do.”

“Let me be your dog. If you want me to be a Marquis, I will become a Marquis. If you want me to be a Duke, I will become a Duke. But no matter what, I remain your dog.” Curry crawled on the ground. His eyes were full of desire for power.

If he was not a true aristocrat, he would never know how satisfying it was to have power.

That was right.

It was satisfying!

It was a simple word.

But it could clearly represent everything.

You could obtain the prettiest woman in your territory. Someone who was a goddess in the eyes of others could climb into your bed at night. She would do everything she could to get you.

You could deliberately misinterpret things, and anyone whose position was lower than yours had to curry favor with you. They had to say that you were right. They had to admit that the deer you pointed to was a horse, if you said so.

You could behave unscrupulously. You were the king of the territory.

However, this power could only be used in your territory.

Curry wanted to possess greater power!

William laughed, and his laugh sounded like Nedrick. He used the tip of his foot to raise Curry’s chin and looked at his eyes that were full of desire. He smiled. “Remember, as a dog, you have to understand that even if you become a King in the future, you will still be my dog. You are simply a dog with unfounded power.

“Though, it is difficult to be a King. However, you can at least be the most powerful person besides the King.”

Curry’s entire body trembled. He crawled on the ground and kissed William’s shoes. He even seemed to be licking the dust off his shoes.

William kicked him away and picked his eyebrows. “Tell Marquis Chris that I want to see him at the palace tomorrow night. Ask him to come alone, I only want to see him.”

“Yes. I will do it now.” Curry crawled away. Only when he reached the gate, did he dare to stand up and leave.

When he walked out of this door, he was an aristocrat whom ordinary people were no match for.

When Curry first encountered William, he had discovered William’s ambition.

Now, One year later, he found that William’s ambition had rapidly inflated and only grown stronger, like the City of Dawn. It even rivaled the two human nations.

Curry understood something.

The half-elf prince had the support of Elfin royalty and the ambition of a human.

At least, Curry felt that if he gambled correctly, he would become a Marquis who was above many people and under one person. He would even have the chance to become King.

Curry also understood that if he did not grasp this opportunity, being a Count would be the limit for him. If he wanted to climb higher… it would be extremely difficult.

But he was ambitious. He had the ambition to continue climbing up!

Power!

It was something that captivated many people.

As long as one had power, they would be able to taste the beautiful taste of being powerful.

This was the main reason why so many people in power did not want to give up their power, even if they had become old and were about to die.

“From master’s actions, it seems as if he wants to start a fight. He wants to obtain benefits from the war between the two nations. But what methods will he use to make the two nations fall into his hands?” Curry could not understand.

He also knew that he should not be thinking about this. His strength was ordinary, and thus, he was like a dog. He had to think of ways to trick Marquis Chris.

When William watched Curry leave, the corners of his lips curled.

The aristocrat system was not very good, but he liked it. He never had the intention to overthrow the aristocrat system.

“Since becoming an NPC, I have to always keep it in mind. I only have one life!”

William stood up and narrowed his eyes. “If I want to control my destiny, I have to possess power.”

He clenched his fist. The power in his fist could cause an ordinary wall to collapse. He shook his head. “It’s still not enough. I don’t have nearly enough power. I can’t even break through a city wall. What is this world?”

“What I want is not that simple…” William walked out and looked at the sky. No one knew how great his ambition was.

Perhaps…

His ambition…

Was as high as the sky?

Perhaps.

It was not so simple.
