The capital of the Red Fire Kingdom was called Red Fire Capital City!
It was a huge city, about six times the size of the City of Dawn. Five million resided there.
Besides the commoners, there were many visitors like mercenaries, devil hunters, bandits, and even some hidden devils.
The situation could be described with one word.
Complicated!
In other words, wherever humans existed, there would be politics.
The larger the city, the harder it was to manage.
As time passed, the city guards had been replaced by the newer generations. The capital had not experienced war before, so the guards became lazy and greedy. If they did not need to do the work and yet could reap the benefits, why would they not assign other professionals to do the work!
This was a large scale city in a Human empire and kingdom!
When the population would go past the one million number, all the cities would look like
this.
A new city like the City of Dawn had not reached the decadent stage. It was still in development, so every guard was conscientious and alert. But it was hard to tell what would happen in the future…
as
The Human kingdoms were getting too large. In order to prevent the cities from becoming smelly, underground sewage had been constructed. But the streets of the smaller dukedoms were filled with feces and urine, and the whole place stank.
As the capital cities of the kingdoms withstood the test of time, the underground sewage system became very complex. These sewers had become suitable for vagabonds, murderers, and criminals to hide.
The guards thought that the sewers were disgusting. Unless a death warrant was sent out by the nobles, the guards would not enter the sewers. Hence, many dark creatures could hide in the sewers.
Of course, William did not want to enter the sewers to complete the NPCs’ missions for experience points as he did before.
Once the players joined the kingdom faction, their first mission would be to kill the creatures in the sewers…
There were hundreds of thousands of criminals, dark creatures, assassins, and devils in the sewers.
This was the capital city, so it was expected that there would be Epic titled professionals around. The underground inhabitants could only mind their business discreetly. They did not bother these powerful Humans on the surface.
Likewise, the busy Lord William would not have the time to go after the small thieves in the City of Dawn…
But for the sake of experience points, the players did not mind the disgusting sewers. They could ignore the green blood and kill recklessly. After submissions of their missions, they would return to the sewers to fight more monsters.
To experience the true reality, some players adjusted the reality slider to 99.999% when they performed the missions. The scenes they would witness were extremely brutal!
William arrived at the Red Fire Capital City and felt a sense of familiarity. They followed Bryan, who did not face any restrictions entering into the palace.
Bryan was only just recovering from his wounds.
In his previous life, William had been cheated while he was in Emerald Grand Duchy. Then, he arrived at the Red Fire Kingdom in version 4.0 and found a Legendary hidden occupation that helped him create the foundation for becoming a Legendary warrior.
“Old Leather, I miss you…” William smiled. Old Leather was the instructor who had taught him the hidden occupation.
William was almost a Grandmaster.
In the future, he would be a Legendary titled warrior!
“I have to admit that you were the one who taught me everything, and yet, you were also the one who caused my death!” A wave of Nostalgia had hit William.
Old Leather was William’s teacher. After attaining the Legendary status, he wandered around before he was involved in a tangled war whose situation had turned precarious.
Even though William was a player, he did not wish to see his teacher die in the war.
At that time, William was also a Legendary warrior, but there was a big difference between a Legendary player and a Legendary NPC. But still, William was able to inflict damage on a Legendary professional.
William wanted to save Old Leather, so he fought for several days until he was mentally exhausted.
Because of this, he had perished instead of his teacher!
It was over!
He had been mentally drained.
He wondered if the wandering Old Leather had missed him or forgotten about him.
“Where is Heavenly justice?” asked William. If he did not take revenge on Old Leather in this life, he would be indignant.
“I’ll make use of your methods to deceive you. If not, I’ll follow your last name!” William sighed. He remembered the secrets of Old Leather, while the Old Leather also knew about his secrets.
Perhaps Old Leather would beg for mercy once he was given the same treatment…
That was right.
old Leather was a professional without morals. He would gravitate towards beneficial situations and escape far away from dangerous situations.
William did not understand why Old Leather had been involved in the war that caused his death.
Bryan brought his saviors along the long corridors of the palace. The security was tight. There was an Advanced sentry for every five steps.
It was not known how many hidden rangers were aiming their bows at them.
Perhaps, there were many cannon gunners too, taking aim at them with their heavy firepower.
They felt a sense of danger when walking in the palace.
But the sense of danger was not intense. It was only a benign warning.
William was not worried Bryan would deceive him. After all, Bryan’s affinity for William had reached 830 points.
He and his subordinates continued following Bryan, who was familiar with the routes. They passed by a plaza that was paved with fire gems and several corridors before they arrived at the deep end of the palace courtyard.
William felt that Bryan was living almost like a prince.
All the royal guards would nod their heads at Bryan.
If these people were not aware of Bryan’s status, it was not normal.
Because they were royal guards. Even if they met nobles or Marquis, they would not nod their heads or smile.
The royal guards showed loyalty only to the royal clan!
It proved that Bryan did not lie.
Once they arrived at a pavilion, they noticed two men playing chess.
William recognized both of them.
The middle-aged man on the left was the king, Vikru Red Flame.
The young man on the right was his son, Chirac Red Flame.
“Bryan, you’ve returned? Did you obtain the Blood Fruits? Are you injured?” Chirac and Bryan had grown up together. They were like brothers. Chirac greeted his father respectfully before he stood up to greet Bryan.
“No, but I almost died. Uncle, please help me take my revenge. I was almost killed by a scheme of Emerald Grand Duchy. A group of vampires pursued us for hundreds of kilometers. If not for these friends, I would have perished!
“Really, I would have died!” Bryan said solemnly.
King Vikru’s heart ached when he heard the word uncle, but he cordially smiled and said, “Don’t worry. Is it the work of Emerald Grand Duchy? I’ll let them send someone over to apologize!”
“Yes, who are your friends?” Vikru curiously looked at William and his companions.
The king could not restrain his curiosity!
The visitors were young, but they had outstanding auras. Perhaps, their endowments and potential were equally impressive. Vikru was considering getting them married and having them stay in the kingdom.
Hmm!
A bad idea…
Nobody knew what the king was thinking…
Bryan awkwardly looked at William and quickly said, “These are my new friends. I suppose you know about the City of Dawn in the southeastern region. He is him, Lord William Blackleaf. His companions are Burned Cinder, Diablo, and Wells.
“I’m not boasting when I say this, but William and his companions are powerful. They defeated a group of Advanced vampires. They are just a bit weaker than I am.”
“Lord of the City of Dawn? William Blackleaf?” Vikru was piqued. William Blackleaf was the only city lord who had defeated the Darkness invasion on the nine continents.
That was interesting!
When William heard Vikru say ‘Lord of the City of Dawn’, he knew which identity to assume to greet the king!
What if William was accosted as the friend of Bryan?
Then, the status of Lord William would have been demoted several times.
Thankfully, Vikru did not have that sense of humor. Perhaps, he was not comfortable using an intimate term.
William was a neutral lord, after all…
Only Bryan could be easily fooled.
Vikru had a lot of doubts after meeting William. He could not easily trust him.
For example, William could have made use of Bryan to get in touch with the king.
He could have employed the vampires to attack Bryan. Then he would try to save Bryan to gain favors.
The vampires of Emerald Grand Duchy could have been colluding with William to deceive the king.
Vikru contemplated for some time. He knew that these things could not be concealed from him. If he were patient in the investigation, he would get to know the truth.
In any case, as the ruler of the Red Fire Kingdom, he was an ambitious King. He was neither naive nor foolish.
Hence, he met Lord William as a King.
However, when William smiled and greeted him, Vikru was unable to restrain his thoughts.
Dee!
[Prompt: Vikru Red Flame’s affinity for you increases by 130 points.]
William smiled and made the victory sign using his right hand that was behind his back.
“Old King, do you concede defeat?” William wanted to say that as long as it was not his enemies, everybody was his brother.
He could create good impressions with all his brothers.
Even the Great Elder of the Moonlight Elves could not control his inner thoughts to avoid contact with William.
How could an Epic titled King survive William’s charms?
Bah!
Impossible!
William was going to make use of his charisma to charm all the creatures in the Gods world.
