Chapter 13

TL-Mechatronic

Everything was burning.

The air, filled with heat, began to burn everywhere in no time.

The party started running to avoid the flames reflexively.

Louis looked back at Adrian. The speed at which flames swallow the surroundings was fast.

There was a smell of burning hair at the tip of his head.

“No!’

The moment he thought that they would be swallowed up by the flames that were catching them behind their backs, a cool wind wrapped around the three of them. In the meantime, their feet floated in the air and flew out of the forest at once.

“North Wind…….’

The coldness of North Wind was rather refreshing and it felt good somehow. They could see how strong the surrounding heat was.

Jean turned his head and looked back. It was dazzling and he couldn’t see anything straight.

The golden light glistened in sight. It was so bright that the surroundings became rather dark.

A black dot flickered in their field of vision, it was just like trying to look at the sun directly.

The three were speechless. Soon after, the speed of the three slowed down, and North Wind faded as if it were exhausted.

The three fell lying on the floor.

Usually, Adrian would have gotten up as soon as he fell, but he didn’t have the power to do so.

If a spirit cannot maintain its strength until the end, it means that something has happened to its owner.

Adrian was crouching for a while, lying on the floor.

Nina.

Nina.

Nina.

He was so angry that he couldn’t stand it. Anger was the first emotion to emerge.

Why!!!

I told you clearly!!

Adrian hit the floor with his fist several times. He didn’t want to move a finger at the feeling of weakness that followed.

He wanted to cry.

However, he firmly closed his lips, got up, wiped his scattered hair, and roughly wiped off the blood dripping from it.

His heart went cold.

All of his emotions seemed to disappear with his anger.

Without Nina, his life was over.

Fine, so that’s how it’s going to be.

You who took her from me will lose everything.

He was still dizzy but still stood with his legs.

It seems that he was directly hit by the poison rather than the head injury.

“I never thought I’d be beaten by a priest that was sent from the temple.”

The voice said fiercely. Vice-Commander Louis sighed. It was difficult for him to make up his mind too.

“It seems that a cult infiltrated the temple.”

When he saw the strangely twinkling eyes of the fake priest, he thought he was just angry and excited because of the conduct of the cult. He felt that something was wrong, but he didn’t expect him to be a member of the cult.

Adrian bit his lips. It burst, bleeding out, but he felt nothing.

When he asked him to come over and take a look at the magic circle, the fake priest refused, saying there, was a problem with the barrier. He didn’t think that he would immediately blow up the barrier with a spell.

While listening to the spell, he thought it was just to investigate the barrier.

‘Stupid fool.

Adrian didn’t care if he was breathless and cursed himself.

Louis then said.

“First, we should go back to the fortress. We have to check your injuries, and Kirill is there too. We must go back to the Black Shield Castle.”

Louis added after swallowing once.

“This could also invoke a confrontation.”

Jean said in a dull voice.

“You’re not going back? Nina…….”

His last words blurred for he didn’t know the exact words to say.

“We’re not going back.”

Adrian said and started walking. At first, he was staggering and slow, but now he was fine.

“Why? What if Nina is still alive…….”

“Then she will come back.”

Adrian said in a low voice. Jean stopped. Then Adrian said again.

“If she’s alive, she will definitely go back to me.”

Jean lowered his head.

It was the first time that his red head bowed down. The rising sense of helplessness made him close his eyes.

After signing a contract with the Spirits, the spirits lend their strength to the contractor through incantation.

However, if you want more power and abilities, it is not only incantation that you have to offer. Besides, to lend power to a higher spirit who has not signed a contract yet…….

There were stories of borrowing power by offering parts of their body.

But he never thought he’d hear the summoning from Nina’s mouth. Jean slowly looked back. A golden glow was slowly fading on the darkening sky.

“Nina, Nina.”

Nina opened her eyes. She was crouching among the bushes. A familiar voice called her.

She opened her eyes wide.

Her brother smiled and reached out his hand. Nina’s face distorted.

“Brother!”

“Let’s go back.”

Nina grabbed the hand and jumped up. Her eldest brother, who was a lot older, always came to find her. He always came to find his youngest sister who always ran out saying her home wasn’t here.

Tears overflowed.

“Why are you crying, huh?”

Her brother hugged her and gave her a piggyback ride. Nina put her face in her both hands and sobbed.

“Because I know it’s a dream.”

“Really? I see.”

Brother laughed out loud. Nina stroke her hand over her flowing hair.

“When I was young, my hair was so long.’

As she looked at the wheat field dyed with honey, Nina wiped her tears with both hands.

“Or am I dead?”

Did she cross the sea of glass?

“No, no.”

At the words of her brother, Nina said, holding her head tight.

“I see. Then I’ll say it’s a dream. Thank you for loving me a lot. I only made trouble, but thank you for always loving me.”

“Nina is the cutest in the world.”

At the words of her brother, Nina cried and laughed at the same time. She’s so happy that she doesn’t want to wake up forever.

“Why is our Nina crying?”

Hearing a cheerful voice, Nina turned her head. Her older sister, wearing a handkerchief that Nina had embroidered poorly, was standing near them. She looked exactly the same as before.

“Sister!”

Nina reached out and her brother bent his back awkwardly. Her sister laughed as Nina was held in her arms.

“Oh, my dear Nina. It’s heavy when you’re all grown up like this. Our Nina, the prettiest girl in the world.”

Nina sobbed silently as her sister whispered.

“Shall we go back together?”

Nina’s lips trembled. She looked up at her with a tearful face.

“No, not now. I can’t leave Adrian alone. I mean……. mean…….”

Nina said without taking her eyes off the faces of her sister and brother, as if not to forget.

“I know this is a dream. I can’t go back, I shouldn’t go back. I don’t know who created this dream, but I know you can hear me……. Come out.”

Click.

There was a sound of a bookshelf turning quickly as the wind blew. Nina saw all the scenery blur.

Then, two people appeared in a white space. No, she doesn’t think they’re human.

The woman, wearing gold scale armor, had large curved goat horns on both sides of her head.

And her face was draped with a cloth that covered up to her neck, so the face could not be confirmed.

The other was wearing a plate of armor that shimmered in silver, but he was wearing a helmet and she could not see his face.

Both were about 190 centimeters tall, so Nina had to step back to see them properly.

The horned woman gently apologized.

– I’m sorry. I’ve been looking at your soul, and the memories were mixed up.

She could feel that the apology was sincere because it was different from that of humans.

Nina soon became relieved. Besides, that is not a bad memory either.

“No, it’s okay. It was nice that I saw my family even for just a while. But that’s not real right?”

-Isn’t the affection of your family remaining in you real?

“…..That’s right.”

Nina said in a small voice.

“I think I’m going to cry…….”

-You are already crying.

The woman in the scale armor reached out and wiped her tears. It wasn’t a selfish movement and it was somewhat friendly and familiar.

Nina felt embarrassed, but she didn’t think of refusing her touch.

“SO…… What am I going to do now? Both of you are spirits, right?”

As Nina asked, tilting her head, the woman giggled.

-Yes, we are spirits.

A relaxed and beautiful voice.

Weird. It seems like she’d heard that voice somewhere, it was quite familiar.

“I know it sounds very strange to say this.”

-Tell me.

“Have we met?”
