Chapter 190 - Witches [1]

Bingo! Five humans appeared, surrounding Ellena. I must say that their presence has been all but blank since earlier. Were they observing us from afar, or was it some sort of ability that made them stealthy?

"You! Answer us! Are you a cursed child?" Another question came from them, making Gero and Cules alarmed.

Cules was preparing himself for battle, and I didn't stop him. I still don't know how they will react.

Ellena slowly nodded, and with it, their weapons raised, pointing at her.

"Then why can't we feel that you are one of us?!"

"I don't know why. But I can feel something from him." Ellena then pointed out Gero, who was dumbfounded at the moment.

"Since earlier, and the other days, I was feeling breathless. It was as if I was stressed, even though I wasn't." Ellena replied, and the one who asked her looked at the other one, who nodded after his/her gaze.

They returned their weapons slowly, then bowed to Ellena.

"Thank you for being honest with us. And forgive us for the discourtesy."

Ellena was baffled, and so was I, because of the sudden change in their personalities. They seem to be conscious of what they look like to her.

"But can we ask? How can you prove to us that you are one of us?" They had another question.

"How should I prove it?" Ellena asked without her composure budging from the pressure emanated from them.

"If you can show us different magic abilities, we will believe you are one of us. It is the only way."

Ellena just nodded then sighed. She conjured a fire, then next it was water and then lightning. She didn't stop there, she even used Binding Light to shackle one of the humans around us.

I felt that all of them were relieved in front of Ellena, and as they felt complacent with her presence, they all looked at her with their masks slowly removed.

There were 3 females and two males in their group. Although they had black hairs that took Gero's attention.

"Cursed children?! Also, Big Sister Noelle was like me?! I didn't notice it!"

It must have been Ellena's gears that covered most of her hair.

Then, just a few seconds later, they all looked at Gero.

"Yes. And I think it would be better if both of you came with us. Oh! I apologize. Where are you going anyway?" One of the females asked.

"We are going to find the villagers from his village," Ellena answered.

It was a clear answer, but somehow, everyone just laughed at her. They didn't laugh that hard, but it was sort of a mocking type.

And as they slightly suppressed their laughter, they asked Ellena, who was now annoyed by their reaction.

I can understand her thoughts. It's quite annoying that Cules felt what I feel. He was showing his fangs with a growl.

"Why are you looking for those shits? They threw Gero away."

"It's not what I wanted. It was Gero's. So please, can you move? I still have a business to settle." Ellena said, her voice slightly intimidating.

Everyone looked at each other then nodded as if they understood each other's gazes.

"Then, we'll help with your business. But you need to come with us after."

I looked at Ellena, who seemed to be thinking about their offer.

I find it too tempting, but what if... what if we find new information and knowledge from them?

I don't mean to pry on cursed children, but I am curious about their power standards. If they have a different way of obtaining abilities, how do they do it? It's crucial since learning every bit of the world's secrets is helpful for the future.

'What do you think?' Ellena asked.

"I don't know. But what if we give them a shot? you see their proficiency if they have?"

It was also bugging me. From what records say, cursed children don't have abilities, or at least not grandiose ones. But witches are just cursed children, so it means that logic from a normal basis doesn't go with them.

'They don't have.'

That's... quite problematic. If that was it, then I have a new theory.

Perhaps they can control mana with roughness. What if they can use strong magic that doesn't require their runes to activate?

I mean, everyone can use basic magic, but didn't they think of learning more? Cules can use magic, and also, he created a core in his body to store mana inside. Then, perhaps, if normal humans can't break through it, cursed children can?

I know it was some sort of impromptu theory, but it also makes sense.

People with activated runes and also normal humans have less control over mana unless they use their abilities. But if cursed children don't have abilities, then it could mean that the reason people see them as powerless was that they needed to go through some sort of manifestation.

They needed to know what magic was and how to feel mana. And since cursed children are always lonely and no one is there to discover their potential, they are deemed weak.

"Ask about how they can have abilities?"

Ellena agreed, then proceeded to ask that question to them.

Everyone looked at Ellena with a sort of curiosity.

"Why? You can do it too? Why do you ask?"

So it was true. Then perhaps, magic is about everything. They can do anything with the help of magic!

Magic... it's tingling inside me...

"Also, how can that beast behind you know about magic? I can sense a magic core inside him."

Ellena pondered then asked me a question about it. I just sighed and answered her honestly.

"I was thinking of letting you know about it, but it seems like I wasn't sure how to say it. I am also curious about teaching you about it. Perhaps if you learn how to control mana more than others, you'll become more powerful."

Ellena sighed.

However, stamina is still prominent in rough control of mana. However, unlike abilities, it's not that huge. Rough control doesn't take more stamina.

"I was just curious. I didn't have anyone to talk to about it." Ellena merely said that clears the doubts of others.

"So, where should we go first?"

"Why don't we introduce ourselves? I can't bring you to me since I don't trust you. But since I know that you recruit cursed children, I can give you Gero. He's unnecessary baggage to me. He'll be in danger."

After Ellena said it, Gero acted wildly.

"Big Sister Noelle! What about the villagers?!"
