Chapter 91 - Acid Rain

After a few hours of planning and waiting, finally, a sign of our hunters appeared. They came from our west direction, and for the means of discovering them, I simply flew and sensed some aura randomly in each place.

It wasn't as problematic as it seemed. It wasn't also hectic and tiring. I can't be tired. However, it didn't bore my mind. I simply enjoy flying and practicing this. It can help my mobility and accessibility in every place. There in the west, a group of three people appears. They were two swordsmen and one mage, and they were familiar with each other.

It has also come into my mind... If a mage takes a test, will the difficulty be appropriate for them? However, it was immediately answered by the term 'party'. Adventurers also need a party, and a party can ascend to the next rank by taking a test of a sort.

If a mage appears to be a solo adventurer, he or she must do what he or she can. There is no discrimination against adventurers' abilities, as what's important is their fighting capabilities.

After some minutes, they appear in front of Ellena's spot. They took a halt and looked at the area.

"I don't see her. Are you sure that you saw her coming here?" A guy who seems to be a leader asked.

"Yes." A female voice answered. "I saw her clearly. She was running in this direction and this place seemed like a slope and the best place to hide."

"Okay... It's understandable. Well, I even find it funny. Is she that scared to hide herself until the test is done? She's hopeless. How can she even survive if she makes an enemy with the guild?" The guy said.

"Right. I can only pity her. Even though I don't know her, she's still a person. " said another voice of a female who wore robes.

"Forget about it. Just use your spell and indiscriminately attack this place. We will guard you after you have had your cooldown activated." The leader said.

"Okay," she answered and nodded.

These people seem to be really familiar. Have they been a party ever since? Well, it doesn't matter, they will just die after this. But of course, if what the observer said is true, even if they die, their bodies will be kicked out before they even die.

It was questionable. What happened to the ambusher? Maybe there's a registering mechanism here that those who have only written their names or registered in the system will be saved.

The mage started to chant her spell. And in a second, light in azure blue started to create abnormal-sized droplet images, halting in mid-air. Above the forest, the droplets already covered the area.

And as she pronounced the final verse of her spell, she paused and warned her teammates.

"Prepare to get covered inside my robe."

And after that, she released the droplets, rushing to the ground, and every drop made a vaporizing effect, seemingly steaming something.

Was it an...

"Acid Rain." She finished her spell by calling the name.

Oh shit! What happened to Ellena?!

I rushed. Abruptly made extreme flaps of my wings to reach Ellena's spot.

Sighs....

I was relieved and sighed after seeing she was perfectly fine. I didn't expect that attack to be acidic.

But how did she manage to remain unscathed?

"E-Ellena?" I called her, and just a few meters below me, she was standing in a weird stance.

"H-How did you remain perfectly fine after that attack?"

She did not answer. Instead, she ignored it and merely glanced at me with disinterested eyes.

What did I do? Is she angry at me?

"That attack. I evade it by slashing every drop with my sword covered in lightning. Since you said that my lightning is hot, it means that it can destroy liquids, right?" she said, almost whispering.

What's with her? I sensed something wrong!

"Y-Yeah... I guess your decision was right. You did a splendid job." I said, slightly bothered and my words reluctantly stuttering minimally.

"By the way... What is wrong? You're acting weird."

"That attack..." She remained silent for a moment, then continued with an explanation. "Was amazing! It almost passed through my defense!"

What a loud exclamation! In no time, they will hear her voice!

Everyone covered themselves with their mage's robes. Even though it was slightly small, they barely fit.

The robe was resistant to any magical liquids. Even if it's acid or any special liquids, it can still resist it. As the main purpose of the robe was to negate her ability's side effect — the splatters.

Even though her ability was deadly, it was still far from perfection as they bounced and later became normal liquids.

Any expert in this field would slap their foreheads after witnessing this. It's utterly gibberish, albeit its majestic appearance of abnormal-sized droplets.

"That was amazing!" The female swordsman exclaimed in delight, praising her friend for the job well done.

"Thank you... But... I feel lightheaded... That took 75% of my current stamina. I don't feel alright." She said, caressing her temple slightly.

"Don't worry. I think she's already injured. We will surely finish her, even if she's a rumored monster!" The leader comforted her with his words, placing his fist on his chest.

"Thank you..."

"Even if she's not here, we can do it later and you don't have to worry about the spell. You have done a splendid job already," he added.

The mage smiled and placed herself comfortably on a boulder.

"I'm going to leave things on your—" Before she could finish her sentence, a loud voice resounded throughout the area, dumbfounding them.

"Was amazing! It almost passed through my defense!"

The mage's eyes remain still, gawking at the source of the voice. She left her mouth open, feeling agitated, and her lips instinctively twitched.

"How could that be possible?!" she exclaimed, even standing in disbelief. Even worse for them, their target seemed to enjoy it.

Was her ability resistant to any magical liquids? Does she also have the same equipment as her? How could this happen?

Her mind became unstable as that exclamation was an extreme slap to her ability. Her ability was considered mid-ranking and was the best among the commoners. How could that lady survive her attack?

"Don't tell me she's safe?"

"Don't worry. I will protect you guys. I still have my stamina preserved. I will activate my rune as soon as she steps out."

But they did not see any figure going out of the spot where the sound came from.. Rather, the place became silent as they raised their awareness of the surroundings.
