Chapter 52

Logan dropped his arms from his face. He gave a sidelong glance at Carlyx, but soon he looked curious.

It was rare for Carlyx to bring out a conversation first.

Logan sat comfortably, linking his hands on the back of his head arrogantly.

“What’s that? I wonder what this monstrous knight is so curious about?”

“There’s something I want to know.”

“Okay. Go ahead and ask.”

“But how do I know about that?”

It was a dull voice with a calm expression. Logan couldn’t understand even though he heard the question and tilted his head slightly.

He pouted for a moment, and asked again.

“You want to know something, but you don’t know how to ask?”

Carlyx responded to Logan’s frown with a dull expression. It was a form of confirmation from Carlyx.

No, but who asked such a stupid question?

“Umm…it’s possible you don’t know about this…well, humans can’t possibly know everything. Humans are social animals, you see. So my advice is you have to ask to get the answer.”

Carlyx began to spread out his fingers as if recounting,

“If it’s an object, then investigation is needed, but for humans it’s interrogation….”

Dumbfounded by Carlyx’s way of thinking, Logan opened his eyes wide for a moment.

“You’re supposed to ask questions. Instead of interrogating people, try to ask questions that suit the mood or situation. For example, if there’s a banana on the table, start by asking, ‘do you like bananas?’”

“Then I will have to go through a long process first. Otherwise, that kind of situation is impossible to occur.”

“Right, just as you said.”

Carlyx reacted with a dry laugh. He didn’t know why he asked such an obvious thing.

He already knew the answer.

Then he looked at Logan, who remained unbothered by his absurd question. Perhaps he didn’t need an answer, he just needed consolation from Logan.

Because he definitely felt more relieved.

As Logan stared back at him, Carlyx swiftly changed the subject.

“Do you know how I grew up?”

“I know. I know better than anyone else. You had a hard time because your parents favored your brother and beat you up a lot, and you were forced to work hard while your brother had everything handed to him.”

Logan still remembered the day he first met Carlyx.

A young boy was burning in passion even during an unofficial match. Logan couldn’t understand why he was so passionate about something that wasn’t even official.

But as Carlyx aged, the passion gradually died down.

Why was he like that back then? And why did he change now?

“When you became an adult and inherited the estate at a young age, you actively engaged in social activities to fulfill your duty as a Marquis. Even though you hated it so much.”

“I never said I hated it.”

“Then do you like it? Be clear about it.”

Carlyx didn’t answer, and Logan inhaled deeply, recalling the past.

Carlyx hesitated a little before asking in a calm tone.

“If you knew everything about me, how would you describe my actions so far?”

Despite the strange question, Logan seriously thought about it. He didn’t think about joking because it was rare to have such a conversation.

Logan replied after a long time.

“Effort? Determination? Fighting spirit?”

Carlyx gradually loosened his expression as he listened to Logan. A certain emotion came to him like an enlightenment.

That’s right! Carlyx thought to himself.

No one had ever described him as desperate like Daisy. Perhaps, she had a deep understanding of him.

“Hmm…other than that…hey! hey! where are you going?”

Carlyx turned his back on Logan and quickly marched forward. He continued while ignoring Logan’s voice.

‘To solve my curiosity, I just need to ask.’

Of course, he didn’t know why he pretended not to know that.

After a series of bad relationships, he forgot how to start a new one. He had been suppressing these unfamiliar feelings because he was comfortable enough with current developments.

It had been a while since he felt curious about Daisy, and that urge still hadn’t changed.

That’s why, It’s fine now.

Now that he already thought about it carefully, he was confident he could resolve this curiosity.

All that’s left is a chef and a gardener. She had to hire Amelia and Carter.

Daisy sighed loudly as if exhausted.

Those two were crucial, but they were the most difficult to win over at the same time.

“Why aren’t you sleeping?”

“Ah. I’m reading the documents. There are only two people left. The chef and the gardener.”

“Those are the same names as in the documents you were holding back then.”

Carlyx could see her firm resolution to hire them and recited in a low voice. Even though it was late, he didn’t bring the candle with him.

Rather, he walked to the sofa and sat across from Daisy. He put his pocket watch on the table and recited calmly.

“I’ve read the documents you asked from Tyler, too. Please tell me if there’s something I can help you with.”

Daisy contemplated for a while and leaned forward.

That’s right. It may be better for two people to put their heads together.

“The chef is Amelia. She’s 36 years old and has excellent skills. She has an older sister who’s also a chef.”

“Yeah, I read that her family worked as a noble family’s chef for generations.”

Daisy nodded slightly at his words.

Amelia was raised by her parents who worked as chefs and shared the same dream with her older sister.

Not to mention the recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. Their family was famous in the noble world because of their proven ability.

“Unlike her older sister, Amelia is always eager to try out new recipes. The taste of her dish was so tantalizing that noble families sometimes competed to hire her. Many nobles wanted to invite her to cook at their banquet.”

Amelia. She made a name for herself.

She didn’t share her recipes with the nobles, but she also didn’t hesitate to accept orders from them. If they asked her to prepare something delicious, she would prepare it without complaint.

It was a great move to establish her standing in high society.

“And then the gardener’s name is Carter. He’s so skilled that he has already replaced his father, who was also a gardener, ever since he was young.”

After organizing her thoughts, Daisy continued to talk.

“Do you know the Mythical Flower that grew in Viscount Riol’s territory?”

The mythical flower. Daisy recalled again.

As far as she remembered, the readers of the novel were confused that a magical aspect sprung out of nowhere.

And at that time, the writer explained that it was a special case and no other magical objects would appear afterward.

She didn’t know what significance it had for the plot progression, but at least this situation could benefit her in many ways.

This mythical flower would have a very positive effect on her goal.

“If it’s the Mythical Flower, do you mean flowers that have a magical ability?”

Carlyx asked calmly to confirm.

He read the information that Daisy collected, but he had never heard of it before. Tyler also obtained this information through his acquaintance after so much digging. It was considered a top secret.

It would have been impossible to learn of the mythical flowers if she hadn’t told them. He was seriously impressed by Daisy’s ability.

“Yes. I’ve never seen it in person either. All I know is there’s something like fireflies inside its buds.”

Daisy pushed the document she was holding to Carlyx. Inside the document, there was a painting that looked like a famous landscape painting. The flowers that bloomed brightly in the painting shone at night.

“There are four types of mythical flower depending on the season. Tulips, vincas, cosmos and cyclamens.”

Daisy’s fingers passed through the picture one by one. All of them shone as if keeping fireflies in their buds, but they were shaped like tulips, vinca, cosmos, and cyclamen.

“Carter is the only gardener who can cultivate mythical flowers. That’s why I want to bring him into our family, just like Amelia.”

“Then we’ll have to bring the Mythical Flowers to our garden.”

“…Seems like you’ve been reading really well.”

Daisy praised Carlyx for reading those thick documents amid his busy schedule.

Just as he said, Carter was someone who didn’t really mind about family prestige. All he wanted was to manage the Mythical Flowers.

There was a family who owned a hill where the Mythical Flower grew. It wasn’t clear if the family knew about the existence of that magical flower or not. Eventually, Carter entered the Riol’s family when Viscount Riol bought the hill.

Daisy lightly stamped the floor with her feet and let out a small groan.

“But I couldn’t understand why Amelia and Stella suddenly quit cooking. And it’s about time Carter cultivates the mythical flowers.”

Daisy rummaged through the paper and pushed another document toward Carlyx.

There was a detailed description of the Mythical flowers’ whereabouts which she had written from recalling the novel.
