Chapter 221: Flying Meatpile Rabid Humans

A few minutes later, I managed to finish cultivating until I reached my bottleneck. I didn't get any breakthrough since it was hasty cultivation, however, I'm almost there. As I mentioned, I reached the bottleneck, which hopefully gave me enough power to fight whatever it is that's flying in the skies.

Natalia finally reached the scene where Zenith and I were staying, watching the skies as the two mysterious dragon-like figures soared through the skies just behind the clouds. Occasional screeching could be heard coming from them, which made us feel a bit uneasy. In any case, it's better if they just stayed their distance. But I think that would be asking for too much since I could feel them getting nearer and nearer the longer we waited.

And then it appeared, one of the most powerful Mythical Beasts in the Middle Plane, the one and only Quetzalcoatl!

The three of us, no, the entire Sky Kingdom gazed in awe as the Quetzalcoatl passed a few feet above the Sky Kingdom, gracing us with its presence. Just like how I imagined it to be, the Quetzalcoatl has a span of a hundred or more meters and it looked more like a snake than a dragon. It had two huge wings on its back, just a few feet behind its bird-like head with feathers. Elegant is an understatement when describing a magnificent beast like him.

I could've sworn it snorted after making eye contact with me. I'm not really sure but somehow, the Quetzalcoatl seemed to have a connection with me even though we've never actually met before.

After one single roar, the Quetzalcoatl unleashed bolts of lightning from its body, dissolving the darkened clouds that surrounded the entire Sky Kingdom. Cheers of joy erupted from everyone in the Sky Kingdom as the clouds parted, making way for the formidable Mythical Beast that is the Quetzalcoatl.

Our joy was short-lived, however, as we saw the two gigantic figures just behind the clouds.

The two gigantic figures were twice as big as the Quetzalcoatl and their figures almost resembled it as well... however, their body composition was drastically different. While the Quetzalcoatl had the most magnificent of a pelt, the figures behind the clouds were made out of rotten human bodies, and its smell must've been awful if someone were to go near it. I could see disgusting greenish liquid oozing out of its body as the human skin of its hide sagged and flapped due to how rotten it was. I would've thought that the Meatpile is the most disgusting and vile being to ever exist but after seeing these two gigantic figures who seemed ot be using some sort of skill to keep them afloat, I changed my mind. They're way more hideous than the strangest of Meatpile Rabid Humans themselves.

"What in the Middle Plane is that thing?!" I exclaimed.

Even Zenith had no idea what it was. Well, I'd just call them Flying Meatpile Rabid Humans or something. Calling them a copycat of the Quetzalcoatl is nothing short of disrespectful since the Quetzalcoatl is beautiful.

In any case, these Flying Meatpiles were the first ones to charge at the Quetzalcoatl. They opened their mouths, revealing a greenish liquid and a tongue that's made out from a sloppy mixture of the color of human tongue and liver. It was awful.

For a moment, the Quetzalcoatl hesitated to fight, probably because the Flying Meatpiles was so ugly that he didn't want any of them touching his magnificent coat. I sort of understand though. Even though I have a little bit of rabid human in me, it took me most of my courage to engage in combat with the Meatpiles, what more if it were the Flying Meatpiles?

"Screech!" The Quetzalcoatl said as a ball of lightning formed on its mouth. A split second later, it fired it off, hitting one of the Flying Meatpiles squarely on its mouth, which sent bolts of lightning flying to different directions. The explosion was so bright that I had to close my eyes for a few seconds and even then, I was more or less partially blind for a second or so.

However, to our surprise and dismay, the Flying Meatpiles were unaffected of the powerful attack, they just brushed it off as if it was nothing. In fact, they only seemed slightly annoyed at the attack. With another disgusting screech coming out from their mouth, they charged at the Quetzalcoatl at terrifying speeds, trying to bite some of its flesh off.

Sensing the danger, the Quetzalcoatl tried to evacuate the area, but the Flying Meatpiles were suspiciously faster than him. In the end, the two of the Flying Meatpiles managed to catch up to the escaping Mythical Beast and bit him by the tail. The other Flying Meatpile started chewing off at the body of the Quetzalcoatl, slowly eating him alive as he howled in pain and frustration. He couldn't shake them off... and for some reason, they were easily overpowering the Quetzalcoatl.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

If it weren't for my previous knowledge about the Quetzalcoatl, I would've assumed that he's just a weak Spirit Beast or something. But then again, the Meatpiles could already overpower a Settlement that housed a few Heavenly Plain Realm Cultivators... what more with the Flying Meatpiles?

Thinking about that, the worst-case scenario entered my mind as I imagined the Sky Kingdom falling to ruins as the Flying Meatpiles invade it. From what I can see, only the Quetzalcoatl is standing between the Sky Kingdom and the destructive Flying Meatpiles.

There was nothing to be said. I have to help the Quetzalcoatl no matter what!

I ran towards the open field where I was performing sophisticated artistry using my Fire Element. From there, I looked up and stared at the Quetzalcoatl. I don't know how I'd help him but I did see a Skill that would help me talk to it. It was a skill called 'Beast Language' and it would help me talk to the Quetzalcoatl.

Then what I feared most started unfolding in front of me— the Quetzalcoatl, it has been infected by the Virus!
