Chapter 12 - Bones Of A Lizard(?)

I opened my eyes, and after seeing that I'm finally back at my bedroom – I took off my cloak and literally threw it somewhere across the room. It's already past midnight, and I just have a couple of hours to sleep before Amy wakes me up. I put the wrapped bones that I bought under my bed, and after making sure it wouldn't be seen, I change back to my pajamas.

I release a breath I've been holding since earlier and finally lie down. Now that I can finally relax, I can't help but think about those children – I wonder if they successfully escaped? If they did, then it would be great. If not, then that is unfortunate. I did say that whether they survive or not is up to them.

I... didn't help them purely out of goodwill.

It's an investment.

I granted them a favor because I believe that I might meet them again someday. If they didn't ask for my help earlier, I would've just ignored them because I don't have any reason to help them. But they did ask for help, so when the time comes, once we meet again, and I need their help – I'll have them do me a favor in return.

As expected... going out is extremely tiring. I definitely won't go out anymore unless needed.

Staying like this, simply lying on my soft bed is the best.

– And just like that, I fell asleep. However, when the time Amy came to wake me up, I can't help but complain internally.

"M-my lady?" Amy who noticed my bad mood and cold look called me hesitantly. I sigh. In the end, I give up my sleep and with Amy's help, I took a bath and dressed up myself nicely.

I just woke up but...

"Amy, you can go. I'll go to the library." I said and with her now used to me always being in the library, she nodded. When she left the room, I took out the wrapped bones under my bed and cast an invisibility Magic on them. I bought them with me outside by making them float above my head since it'll be weird if I'm seen holding something... invisible.

While I'm on my way to the library, I passed some servants. Some look at me pitifully, while the other either glared or look at me with curiosity. I kept an emotionless face and didn't bother to glance at them.

After reaching my destination, I immediately locked the door of the library. I undid the Magic on the wrapped bones and place them on a table.

"How am I going to do this...?" I whispered to myself, totally clueless. There has to be a way to extract it, perhaps a spell or a Magic word...

Staring at the bones, I started to search my brain for any knowledge that might be able to help me. When a necromancer revives or resurrects a dead person, what do they do? Base on the novels I've read, anime and mangas I've read, some offer offerings or sacrifices, and some also chant a spell.

"How will I wake you up?" I asked the bones that will definitely not answer me.

This is a game, but unlike other protagonists, I don't have any system to guide me. Although I have this game's knowledge and Aksia's memories, the original Aksia haven't done this before too.

If I would chant a spell, which word it is? It's hard because it can be anything, the word might even be in another language. It can be 'extract' since I'm extracting the shadow, it can also be 'reborn', 'resurrect', or 'Awake'.

'Rise'.

For some unknown reason, this word just felt right. Unlike the others I've said, this feels easier for me to say. I looked at the bones scattered on the table, I took a deep breath and directed my Magic at them. A dark, ominous, black aura surrounded my whole body, at the same, it was glowing. There are small ball-like particles too that dance around the place.

The temperature around the room began to drop. Strangely, even though I can feel the coldness, I wasn't shaking or trembling.

With a calm and firm voice, I spoke,

"Arise."

and like Magic – and it is Magic, the cold temperatures suddenly become hot. The wind in the room started to become wild, and some books fell on the floor. A black aura also surrounded the bones, it floated slightly from the table and I can clearly see the shadow separating or getting extracted from it.

Until the shadow formed a form, its form.

– A dragon.

I was stunned and dumbfounded, to say the least. It was huge, it almost reached the ceiling of the library – which is also huge. It was completely black because it was a shadow, and because it was huge, the whole place was almost pitch black too and the only thing I could clearly see is the dragon and the place where I'm standing.

When red eyes suddenly appeared on the black creature, I can't help but step back, alerted, and warry.

"Are... you the one who summoned me?" It asked, the voice was like a man and it was deep, almost like it came from beneath the ground.

I wonder. Who was it who said that this was a lizard's bone...? This is no lizard at all. Why is this shadow even huge when the body is small? Does such a thing even exist in the game? If I return this, will I get a refund?

"That is correct, I summoned you." I answered despite my thoughts.

"Are you worthy?" At the dragon's question, I tilted my head. Worthy...? Does it want to test me? I stepped back again. There is a saying that you should accept a blessing, and I think so too. But I didn't bring these bones here thinking that it's a dragon, one that even wants to test out a person. I don't even know what test it will give me.

However, before I could even speak, a fireball was sent in my direction.
