Chapter 30 - Enjoying Life

Chapter 30 Enjoying Life

Guo Li passed the note to Cai Er. She read it carefully. She looked nervous. Only after reading it did she relax her brows and let out a long sigh of relief.

It turned out that Cai Er’s younger sister had abandoned the island with her and escaped. After that, she ended up on a native island. The natives there worshiped Cai Er’s younger sister as a saintess.

Because Mei Er’s talent was (charm], she was living very comfortably on that island. There was no danger there, so Cai Er no longer had to worry about her sister’s safety.

After Cai Er found out that her younger sister’s life was not in danger, she was so happy that she cried tears of joy. The family member she was most worried about was not in danger. As her older sister, she could finally put her heart at rest.

“Guo Li, my sister’s life is not in danger now. She is on an island that is full of natives. The natives there worship her as their Saintess.”

After Guo Li heard that, he was happy for Cai Er. “That’s for the best. Your sister is not in any danger for the time being. We can seize this opportunity to obtain more resources from this ownerless Island.”

After being relieved of her burdens and fears, Cai Er became more cheerful, and there was a twinkle of joy in her eyes.

In the blink of an eye, it was time for lunch. Cai Er personally cooked a pot of fat fish soup and prepared some fish. After some simple treatment, she poured water into a big pot and stewed the fish. She then sliced the bluefin tuna belly into the pieces that were the thickness of a finger and dipped them into the wasabi and soy sauce. Then they started eating

During the meal, Guo Li and Cai Er sat together. They also distributed all of the extra food to the sailors and Captain Jack.

The bluefin tuna belly was full of fat. After taking a bite, he found it to be fragrant but not greasy. It was indeed worthy of being a top-notch ingredient in the real world. It was a real delicacy.

The fish soup was also very delicious. There was no need to put in any extra seasonings. The soup tasted sweet and hearty. It warmed the souls of those who ate it.

Guo Li drank three big bowls of fish soup, after which his head was covered in sweat.

After eating and drinking his fill, he got a sailor to wash the dishes. Guo Li returned to his fishing. In this mysterious sea, every potential catch could bring Guo Li unexpected gains.

He felt a tug on the line and hurriedly pulled the fishing rod back. The weight he sensed on the other end of the line filled Guo Li with anticipation. He hoped that the treasure caught this time would surprise him.

The fishing rod was pulled up bit by bit. When the object appeared in front of Guo Li, he was stunned. It was actually a ball of slag metal.

(Ding! Congratulations! The host has caught some copper slag.]

[Note: Copper slag originates from copper mines. Their level of purity is not very high. However, they can be refined and turned into refined copper.]

Guo Li placed the copper slag on top of the deck. Rubbing his chin, he figured that since he had caught these copper slag in the sea, he was probably not far from the small island that was rich in minerals.

He continued fishing and, in less than five minutes, he felt another tug on the line. After pulling it out, it turned out to be gold slag. There were quite a number of them.

(Ding! Congratulations! The host has caught some gold slag!)

(Note: Gold slag originates from gold mines. Their level of purity is not very high, but they can be refined into actual gold.)

Guo Li continued fishing. The more slag metal he caught, the closer he felt he was to the mineral-rich island.

(Ding! Congratulations! The host has caught some silver slag…]

(Ding! Congratulations! The host has caught some gold slag…]

[Ding! Congratulations! The host has caught some copper slag…)

SO

(Ding! Congratulations! The host has caught some iron slag…) [Ding! Congratulations! The host has caught useless slag metal…]

As more and more slag metal was caught, Guo Li’s initial surprise turned into nonchalance. He even threw some of the useless slag metalback into the sea, while keeping those that were useful. Once he accumulated a certain number of them, they could be exchanged for their corresponding ores in the future.

Guo Li used (vision sharing) and saw things from the seagull’s point of view. He looked into the distant sea, but did not find anything. The small mineral-rich island was still quite far away from them.

Guo Li identified the general direction and got Captain Jack to continue to sail forward according to the new coordinates.

To sail the seas, one needed to constantly adjust the course. The currents in the sea would cause the fishing boat to unknowingly deviate from the originally planned route.

However, Captain Jack was the best ship captain there ever was. His piloting skills were superb. As long as Guo Li gave him the precise coordinates, he would be able to accurately sail straight toward those coordinates.

They continued to sail forward. In this area of the sea, there were more and more pieces of slag metal. Guo Li only chose to keep those that he needed the most.

The remaining ones were useless because the space on board the ship was very limited. As such, he threw those all away. Looking at the slag metal that was thrown back into the sea, Guo Li felt his heart ache.

If only he had a smelting furnace that could refine slag metal. If he did, he would not have to waste all of the slag metal that he had painstakingly fished up.

In the blink of an eye, another half a day had passed. They had been sailing for quite some time now. Other than catching some fish, everything he fished up was slag metal.

The sky was getting darker and darker. In the distant sky, a burning cloud appeared. Golden light shone upon the sea. The waves were sparkling. No fish came out of the water.

Cai Er was busy making dinner. Guo Li had just caught some more seafood. Two of the sailors had also made a cage. Once they tied a rope to it, and threw it into the sea, they would be able to catch some seafood. When they lifted the cage back up, there were a few octopus, some sea urchins, and a few shellfish inside.

Guo Li’s eyes lit up when he saw the sea urchins. This kind of food was extremely delicious. Whether it was steamed or eaten raw, the flavor was enough to rock one’s world.

Cai Er quickly processed the food. She was very satisfied with her current living situation. She could eat and sleep well, and did not need to worry about her safety. In this game world, most people had not gotten to the point of eating heartily and living comfortably. Cai Er could rely on Guo Li. She ate seafood every day and there were also people around to protect her safety.

Soon, steam was emitted from the steamer. Cai Er called everyone over to eat. The sailors took their food and went over to eat in groups.

Guo Li and Cai Er sat on the deck and savored the delicious food.

There were steamed sea urchins, fish soup, tuna sashimi, lobster meat, as well as Cai Er’s handmade noodles with lobster and crab roe. It tasted simply divine.

Guo Li almost swallowed his tongue whenever he took a bite. Cai Er’s handmade noodles were very delicious.

After taking a big bite of the noodles, Guo Li praised her, “Cai Er, your hand-rolled noodles are really delicious!”
