Chapter 211 - Survivors Atop A Flyover

"Hah!" Shouting in response, Compass Carburettor activated his Armament, slashing towards a Grassman, cutting off his hand. He decided to call them Grassmen for convenience's sake.

Not pausing to fight the other party, he continued to run, only attacking those that arrived too close. It was because the number of Mental Energy streams he was getting had dwindled alarmingly quickly.

So, he couldn't use Directional Misalignment too much, only saving it up for emergencies. Left with no other choice, he used his Armaments to slash off his enemies.

He had been focusing on Grisha's Mental energy stream all along, noticing that it had remained the same from the start.

Worry!

'Dammit, think of something else too, would you? At least something that would allow me to know your situation!' He thought, perplexed, continuing to run over the divider as he watched the height of the grass had now almost reached the divider.

It was becoming more and more dangerous, with the grass sometimes almost touching his shoes from time to time. He was getting slightly paranoid.

"There's a flyover! Finally!" He shouted in relief and quickly flashed towards it, disregarding the Darlac expenditure. After all, the grass was alarmingly close to his feet now.

It was too risky.

Within a minute, he arrived atop the flyover, sighing in relief upon seeing that he wouldn't be troubled by the grass for the time being. The peak of the flyover was at a height of thirty metres from the ground.

So, even with the rate at which the grass was growing, he had more than half a day left, or even beyond if the grass had no plans to grow this tall.

Now that he had a momentary peace, he took out some rations from the bag and gobbled them up, wishing to recover his Darlac as much as possible.

He then turned around, seeing countless cars situated on the flyover. The people within were still alive and remained humans. But, none of them exited their cars, huddled within in fear.

After looking at the dent marks on the various cars and the shattered windows of some, he understood what had happened. Some of the Grassmen had climbed the flyover and attacked the humans there.

At first, it seemed the humans had resisted, but there had been some victims.

There was a group of men holding crowbars and the likes, huddling as a group to discuss their strategies, especially their means of escape.

There was no way of survival atop the flyover. At most, they could be there for some days relying on the food and water they had brought with them. But that's all.

Upon seeing Compass Carburettor magically arrive, they were shocked, wondering how he had done that. Though, they were also nervous, thinking that he was also a Grassman or a higher variant at that.

Compass Carburettor didn't mind their gazes, first finishing all his rations. Only after that did he get up and approach the group of men, waving his hands to indicate that he was a human, "I barely reached here before they got me."

"Stop," One of the men that acted as their leader pointed a crowbar at him, saying, "Prove that you are a human."

"Do you see any grass growing on me?" He asked, removing his shirt to show his human skin. He also pulled up his pants showing the same, "Do you believe me now?"

"No," The leader said, tightening the grip around his crowbar, "The entire ground has been covered by the grass for more than two hours. There's no way you could have survived for so long."

"There's a reason I had done that." Compass Carburettor said, smiling as his figure flashed, appearing before the leader to grab his crowbar. He then smiled, letting go of his hold before flashing back to his original location.

"W-What the heck was that?" All the men were alarmed as their hands shook for a moment. There were many people within their cars, having been observing Compass Carburettor from the moment he had arrived on the flyover.

The reason Compass Carburettor was dragging out things was simple.

Mental Energy!

His reserves were too low, so he was using this chance to replenish himself. And, drama was the best, no matter the situation.

He then laughed, lifting his leg to point the boots towards them, "The secret lies in these pair of boots. They allow me to flash towards other locations."

He then asked, "Have you seen any other animals along the way? Especially those with horns."

The group of men gazed at each other, wishing to see if anyone had seen such an animal.

"I've seen a pig with a horn running at the side of the road just before." A boy in his late teens stepped forward, saying, "Its grey skin strangely glowed while it was able to run like a boar."

"That!" Compass Carburettor stressed his tone, saying, "If you managed to kill it and swallowed the orb growing within its body, then you too would obtain an ability like mine."

"That's how I managed to survive this long." He continued, "I hopped from one car roof to another all the way till here."

"Then…let's kill some." The leader easily believed his words. Or rather, he wished to believe it to be true. Otherwise, their situation looked hopeless.

"But…how will we get down to hunt any? Would they even be alive in the grass?" The teenager spoke in worry. Even though a part of him wished to obtain supernatural powers and become unrivalled, get a harem in the apocalypse, and whatnot.

As he had experienced the horrors first-hand, he was grounded to reality. He was travelling with his family, and his parents were on the older side, having birthed a child in their late forties. So, they weren't able to fight.

As he had to take care of them in this situation, he had been patiently observing his surroundings, wishing to find a way of survival.

As the men engaged in a discussion, Compass Carburettor began to observe his surroundings when the teenager approached him, saying, "Bro, how far can you jump?"

"Why do you ask?" Compass Carburettor looked at the boy in surprise.

The boy pointed at a hill situated two hundred metres away, "If you can leap that far, we'll be able to hunt some animals there.. The pig I saw before was running towards it."
