Chapter 214 - A Fiery Path To The Hill

Boom!

The can of petrol fell on the grass nearby as the petrol from it leaked out while the fire spread accordingly. The heat caused the air within the can to expand and make it explode, splashing out the petrol in the vicinity.

And with that, the fire caught on. Immediately, the grass wriggled, moving over in an effort to cover the fire and snuff it. But as this was a fire created using petrol, it wasn't easy to stop it, especially for the grass that began to fume immediately.

The moisture in them began to vaporise from the heat while the oils within them got ignited in response, further fuelling the fire, causing its temperature to increase.

"Alright, we have a chance!" Saying so, Compass Carburettor began to throw the cans and bottles one after another, using his enhanced strength to throw accurately, forming a trail of fire from one end of the flyover till the foot of the hill.

Moreover, in places where the grass was desperately fighting against the fire, he threw more bottles, fuelling the flames further. As the heat continued to build up, the grass was failing in its resistance, despite it increasing in volume.

It was futile because the heat had reached such a point that the moisture in the grass nearby was being vaporised rapidly. And in response, they too caught fire.

"This is successful!" The leader rejoiced as everyone ready in their cars shouted in relief.

"After a few months, it might not be this effective." Compass Carburettor muttered. Even though his tone was light, the teenager and the leader heard him, shuddering a little in response.

They too felt that it was likely. After all, with the amount of petrol they were pouring, even a forest fire was easy, not to mention setting the grass on fire.

The fire was less potent against the evolved grass now that seemed to be growing nonstop, like the rising ocean levels.

It took thirty minutes before Compass Carburettor finished throwing all the bottles as he created a massive trail of fire, brightening up the entire night.

The scene caused everyone to stare at it, awestruck. For, the fire continued to blaze around, having initiated a chain reaction as it continued to spread nonstop. It seemed the growing grass had a lot of oil in them that were susceptible to fire.

As the heat continued to build up, the spread of the fire soon became unstoppable.

"Everyone! Get moving!" Upon seeing a small clearing form in the middle of the fire pit, Compass Carburettor commanded everyone to get a move on. Without any hesitation, the cars whirred into life and sped forth from the flyover, soon speeding through the sea of fire.

It was dangerous to travel in this way, but the moment the fire died down, they didn't have any guarantee that the grass wouldn't immediately grow back to normal. So, they had to travel before the fire died down.

"It works!" The driver in the car at the forefront laughed in joy as his SUV bladed through the path, managing to reach the hill. As the foot of the hill was bereft of trees, he drove through it, heading deeper along the side of the hill until he parked at one end, watching the cars filling in one after another.

Cars similarly parked themselves along both the sides at the foot of the hill, forming a ring around it.

This hill reached a height of 500 metres and had a wide base, spanning 4-5 kilometres. So, it was a fairly large area. Moreover, it was also connected to a couple more hills that were more or less its size.

The driver in the first car noticed that there wasn't any grass in the region connecting both the hills, thanking the heavens. No matter what, all of them had realised one thing, whether they wished to believe it or not.

The world was changing.

So, whether it was to survive or wait for a rescue from the government, forming a camp on this hill was better than being left to rot on the flyover with no room for food or water.

At least on this hill, they would be able to find fruits and other necessities. As long as they had someone among them that was an expert on trees, they would be able to find enough edible products. After all, it wasn't just the fruit that could be eaten.

Quite the number of trees had leaves that could be cooked and eaten. They were also quite nutritious to boot. So, as long as they identified such trees, then it was possible to survive. Most were only familiar with the end product sold in the market, and not their state in their natural habitat.

Many people were having such thoughts as the car with Compass Carburettor, the teenager and the leader arrived last.

The moment he got down, Compass Carburettor turned around, noticing that the grass was indeed growing out from the path they had treaded upon just now. Since a lot of cars had sped upon it, the fire had died down in two wide lines.

But, the moment the grass grew out, they caught onto fire, burning once again. The path they had created was once again covered by fire.

"Kyak!" Suddenly, a high-pitched wail resounded from one of the people before there was chaos.

Without any hesitation, Compass Carburettor rushed in the direction, watching the figure of a pig clamping upon the leg of a plump woman. Its skin seemed tough as it shrugged off the attacks from the nearby men, focusing on first tearing off the woman's leg.

"Hah!" Grunting, Compass Carburettor flashed at its side, also kicking while using the speed from his flash, denting the side of the pig's stomach, causing blood to rush out of its mouth in response.

Thanks to his Skill of Strength, he wasn't even injured from the attack, only now fully erupting with all his strength. Until now, there had never been a situation where he had to completely show his strength, so this was the first time he was fully fighting using his base power.

"Ahhhh!" The woman screamed in pain before passing out. For, her legs had been completely severed by now. The pig spat out the leg and had just got up, about to attack him when Compass Carburettor arrived at its side, targeting the same place once again, activating his Armament to plunge the energy blade through the dent in its body.
