Chapter 228 - Summary of the Second Form

After watching the video sent by X-112, Chen Chen fell into deep thought.

He seemed to have discovered something incredible, all of which was more complicated than he thought.

In Elysium’s dimension, the owners of these three brains had been dead for many years. Even their corpses had been cremated. Why did their brains appear in the three sculptures?

Moreover, these three brains even corresponded to the sculptures. Human vision was controlled by the occipital pole and the cortex around the rectangular fissure of the brain. Therefore, the cortex around the rectangular fissure of the brain in Big Eyes was very developed.

The same applied to the other two sculptures.

What exactly did the three men of the Gross family discover before they died? Why did the three of them put a gun in their mouths to end their own lives?

Could it be that they had anticipated that their brains would be stored within the sculptures after their death and because they could not bear the pain that was worse than death, that they wanted to end their own lives?

Who was it that buried these three sculptures in 2111 Basin? Why did they suddenly activate one day, drawing in humans around the world to die alongside them? What methods did they use to achieve this?

After studying the three sculptures, Chen Chen’s puzzlement did not diminish at all but became even more muddled.

Still, X-112 had dismantled the three sculptures. Not only was the outer shell of the sculptures destroyed, but the brains inside the sculptures were also dead.

Although it was a shame, if Chen Chen had to make a choice again, he still would not hesitate to order the destruction of the three sculptures.

Surely he could not possibly bring the three sculptures into reality…

Even more outrageous was the fact that, other than the brains within, the three sculptures were made of the most common stone. After being cut open, the stone was even ground into dust by X-112, but nothing strange was found.

Chen Chen closed the report sent by X-112 and pulled up the information about the Gross family that was stored in the USB flash drive, but he still did not find anything.

At this, Chen Chen simply raised his head and said, “X, transmit a final message to the other side — order X-112 and one of the Black Knights to return to reality.”

“Are we giving up on Elysium’s dimension?”

Little X asked.

“Yup, but before that, I plan to experiment with the USB drive.” Chen Chen nodded, then turned and walked toward the room where the portal was.

Although it had been determined that there were no pathogenic bacteria in Elysium’s universe, Chen Chen still put on a protective suit for insurance. When he entered the room where the portal was located, he immediately saw a Black Knight in PK Armor who had returned to reality, bringing X-112’s hard drive with him.

At this point, only one Black Knight was left on the other side of the passage.

Upon seeing this, Chen Chen did not hesitate anymore. He turned around, went to the laptop, and clicked the cross in the upper right corner.

With a clicking sound, the dimension portal that had been opened for more than a week was finally closed.

Nonetheless, after closing the passage, Chen Chen paused in thought, then clicked on the movie again. This time, without Chen Chen having to control anything, a channel had formed automatically like a black whirlpool.

Moreover, after it opened, a Black Knight walked out from the other side of the passage.

“X, verify this Black Knight’s chip.”

Chen Chen said as he observed the approaching Black Knight.

“Verified. There’s nothing wrong with the Black Knight.”

Little X’s voice rang out. “The recording shows that the Black Knight, who was left on the other side of the portal, did see the portal disappear. However, less than a minute later, the portal opened again. The timing ran parallel to our side.”

Chen Chen nodded. “So, the second form of USB drive has the ability to repeatedly launch the same dimension. Good.”

Now that this feature had been verified, it was possible to set a mission deadline for the Black Knight in the future. After the Black Knight entered the new dimension, Chen Chen could temporarily close the channel until the agreed time was up.

The advantage of this was that the USB drive would have more charging time. The process of utilizing the USB drive would be more flexible too.

The only problematic part was that after a passage was opened, the movie could not seem to be deleted.

At this point, Chen Chen suddenly had a flash of inspiration. He closed the movie Elysium once again and checked the storage space of the USB drive.

Presently, there were as many as a dozen movies in the USB drive.

Chen Chen looked preoccupied as he stared at these movies. Then, he slowly moved the pointer to the movie Chronicle and pressed [ctrl+d].

“Swoosh!”

With a soft “swish”, this movie, whose portal had been opened previously, was deleted…

“As I thought…”

Chen Chen shook his head. The movies whose channels had been opened could not be deleted, but just now, he suddenly wondered, after the USB drive had initiated a new channel, would the previous channel become invalid?

Now it appeared to be the case.

He still remembered that the first time the USB drive reached its second form, he had played the movie Chronicle. At that time, once the channel was opened, the movie could not be deleted even after the channel was closed again.

Nevertheless, now it seemed that it could still be deleted. The solution was to open the portal of another movie.

After thinking about it, Chen Chen tried to delete the movie Resident Evil again and it was also deleted successfully.

“I have basically figured out the rules of the USB drive’s second form.”

Chen Chen mumbled to himself.

As of now, there were probably six rules for the second form of the USB drive:

Rule 1: When the electric power in the USB drive reached 1 billion kWh, the second form of the USB drive was activated;

Rule 2: In the USB drive’s second form, the movie would open a two-way channel that allowed lifeforms to enter and exit and the world on the other end of the channel was a parallel world similar to the movie’s world;

Rule 3: When just the channel was opened, there was no energy loss. The energy was only consumed by mass entering and exiting the channel. The consumption ratio was the same as the proportion of extracted items in the USB drive’s first form.

Rule 4: The end-position of the channel could be established by playing a particular scene in the movie, but the timeline of the world opposite the channel could not be controlled.

Rule 5: The activation of the channel could be repeated to a certain degree, allowing temporary closure. After opening a new channel, the previous channel would be eliminated (specifically, the movie switched from being unable to be deleted to allowing deletion).

Rule 6: The world on the other side of all the channels opened so far had been a world where humanity was extinct. It had not been determined whether this phenomenon was incidental or inevitable…

Chen Chen sighed to himself as he looked through the rules he had summarized.

Were these all of the rules of the USB drive?

No, impossible…

The USB drive’s rules were more than miraculous, yet they made Chen Chen shudder in trepidation.

When he was shooting the movie, he accidentally discovered that the USB drive seemed to have some hidden rules that he did not know of.

For instance, the black-clothed villains in the movie and that company in 2025…

This time, after Chen Chen opened the movie Elysium, he was once again faced with a crisis that he could not deal with. The only thing he could do was to dodge all of it.

However, though it now looked as if the passage to Elysium’s dimension had been closed, the three sculptures seemed to be engraved into Chen Chen’s thoughts.

All this made Chen Chen inexplicably uneasy. Was the crisis surrounding the three sculptures so easily avoidable?

The other possibility was that perhaps the occurrence in Elysium’s universe was the eventual fate of his present reality?

Chen Chen had no way of knowing…
