Chapter 38

The little girl was stunned. She pursed her cherry lips and looked at Pei Xiubai with her big, watery eyes. “…This is big brother’s kitty?” she asked.

“Yes, that cat belongs to him,” Xu Ciye pushed on despite the surmounting pressure, “And now, big brother wants his cat back. Now, quickly give the cat back to him.”

Xu Ciye was worried that the little girl would refuse to do so, or that she may be reluctant since he saw how much she liked the cat. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have run after it when it headed for the door.

The girl, however, was unexpectedly nice. She carefully placed the cat into the boy’s arms while looking up at him with her bright, crystal-clear eyes.

“Here’s your kitty, big brother.”

Her voice was sweet and soft. Just like the whiffs of fragrance that was coming off of her, which was clear and sweet.

The boy quietly stared at her without revealing any emotion in his dark eyes.

Afraid that he was misunderstanding things, the little girl’s stared into his eyes, and explained in an earnest tone, “Lili didn’t steal your kitty. I just picked it up from the floor. If big brother doesn’t believe me, you can ask the kitty yourself. I really didn’t lie to you.”

The white cat meowed in agreement after she said that.

The little girl’s eyes were glittering as she said, “See, big brother? Kitty here agrees with what I said. I really didn’t lie to you.”

The boy with the gorgeous face looked down and stroked the cat’s white fur with his slender and pale fingers. After a long moment of silence, he slightly raised his gaze to look at her.

“It really liked you,” he said with a gentle voice.

That was the first sentence that Pei Xiubai had said. Despite how soft he sounded, everyone within the room felt a chill crawl up their spines, causing them to shudder in fear.

The little girl was the only exception. It didn’t seem like she felt it at all. She laughed happily, “I like the kitty too!”

The young boy smiled and didn’t say another word.

Xu Ciye was really impressed with Lu Li.

Pei Xiubai’s presence was enough to cause a headache that affected both his bodyguards and Xu Ciye. And yet, astonishingly, the little girl didn’t feel a thing. She was still very cute and very adorable.

The black-haired boy’s lips curled into a smile as he tilted his head upwards at the bodyguard while supporting it with his hand. “What do you think? Do you wish for me to be alright, or not alright?” he asked.

The bodyguard choked up immediately. He responded in a stiff, unnatural manner, “I… I naturally would wish for you to be alright…”

“Is it?” The boy smiled as his fingers kept on stroking the cat, all while he looked up at the bodyguard.

It was only after a while did the young man said as his voice trailed off in the end, “Looks like you are quite the loyal one.”

The bodyguard could only force a smile, as he was unsure of how to carry on the conversation.

Speaking with the young master was too much of a challenge for his courage!

The big brother’s surname was Pei?

She remembered that word very distinctively. As she didn’t know how to read it at the time, she asked the little turtle and the little rabbit in the Celestial World. She even asked her mummy, but they all didn’t know how to read the word.

Because of this, she called her mummy stupid. Angered, her mummy gave her a good spanking, which resulted in her crying very loudly.

After she had finished crying, she borrowed a Celestial World’s dictionary from big brother fox. Only then did she know how to read the word, which explains why she could so clearly recall this specific word.

The little girl’s head was tilted to one side as she searched through her memory for something.
