Chapter 6:She Was Not Alone

Blue Whale Mountain Resort was a beautiful haven on top of a high hill.Surrounded by giant trees and kaliedoscopic flower garden, the place was a perfect getaway from the chaos of the city below. At night, it looked like a stunning, starlit galaxy, beaming like glittering golds in a dark contrast. During the day, the entire place looked like a vast paradise as your eyes would be drawn downward the magnificent display of mist - covered trees and plains enclosed by the distant, crimson - blue horizon.

Subconsciously glancing at Anthon across her, she wondered if he really knew what happened then or was he only playing innocent. Somehow, he could not read him. For many years, she thought it was all in the past but all of a sudden, the surge of humiliation and frustration betrayed her. Her eyes turned to her son over the other table, fighting with his desire to go on watching his favorite videos against his sleepy head. She laughed silently. This boy had so much more power to change her mood than anyone else in this world.

Anthon, who was absorbed in getting all the tiniest reaction Jia had while he leaned back over his couch, barely touching his cup, turned his gaze around toward the little boy. Just as he was about to fall over the other leather seat, he got up swiftly and caught him in his arms. Soon, he came back to her table with a sleeping son.

It was such a beautiful sight. She had always dreamed of these moments for her son. And, it was obvious, that the child wanted a father of his own when he surprised them with his reaction not long ago. He must have envied his classmates who had their daddies to fetch them and bring them food. She, suddenly, felt pity for him and was not able to hold back the tears in her eyes. She hurriedly turned her head away as she tried to swipe a finger off her tears secretly. Little did she know, that this did not escape Anthon's probing eyes.

As Anthon carefully sat back with Jian in his arms, she noticed how he looked at him lovingly with longing in his eyes... She blinked. She must be dreaming. Or perhaps, she was into her melancholic state again to give such much meaning in everything.

"Why did you disappear in the resort? You still have not answered me. "

Her thoughts wandered again to that night in Blue Whale Mountain Resort.

When she arrived, everyone was already there. All of their physical appearances greatly changed. Jay, whose hair was brittle and bronzed by the sea breeze, was now beautifully cascading in her back. It was already straight and shiny in a chestnut shade.

Liz, whose face was filled with pigmentation from living in the foreshore land as Jay's neighbor, was now supple and glowing. She wore a denim shorts and a strapless top, displaying her long and beautiful legs. No trace at all of the kind of life she was into before.

Mira, her stout classmate who always wore crumpled uniform, was now standing tall and beautiful in her cotton, maxi dress.

Anthon was also there. He wore a white, polo shirt and a checkered, blue city shorts. He paired it with brown, leather slippers. She did not look at him. His stares were like flames that could melt down the candle inside her heart.

Such changes of their figures were total reflections of the successful lives they were now into. Except her who only wore a denim skirt and a simple blouse.

While everyone else were happily chatting and drinking, catching up to the details they missed sharing with each other, she excused herself. She turned to pick up her tent and set it up on the hillside with the door facing to scenes below the hill and across the golden picturesqe of the city. While staring up into the moonlit skies, she watched the moon as it gracefully moved in to the sky. She was lost in her thoughts while the silver rays wrapped her completely. After a long while, she got sleepy. She pulled out a small pillow and lied down, still mesmerized by the golden moon rays and then slowly fell asleep , leaving the door of the tent wide open.

To prevent the rain drops from entering in, she completely closed the door and lied down again. He was not someone to harm her. And maybe he got sleepy while waiting for her to wake up as she could see that he was drunk.
