Laurent’s Imperial Palace was largely an office and a solemn space. Since it was a workplace of about a thousand imperial officials who worked day and night for the welfare of the people, silence and consideration were the basic principles.
In addition, high-ranking moguls in Laurent came and went dozens of times a day, so if the employees were to commit a mistake, they would have to be prepared for minimum salaries, suspension, and maximum dismissal. Internal regulations were also severe to meet the prestige of Laurent Ruby, the backbone of the Laurent Empire.
But these days, the palace was suffering from an unheard illness once a week.
The main culprit was obvious. Respect for the throne was treaded upon without a care to the dignity of the Imperial Family. It was the witch who had been in hiding for two years and who had returned to the capital splendidly, and the dragon she raised.
All of Laurent’s official duties were temporarily suspended every Tuesday and Thursday when the two visited the Imperial Palace. It was impossible for the workers to focus on their tasks as sounds of explosion originating from the Magic Department building erupted throughout every corner.
“Ellie, you’ve not only lost your memory but you’ve also become such an idiot. What the hell are you thinking about with that little head that you’re always destroying things?”
“When I see your face, I want to break everything, why.”
The Magic Department building, where Eleonora and Muell resided, had already been destroyed to the point where it was hard to recognize its appearance. Naturally, all the work within the premise was suspended.
“Don’t look down on me, mister. I’m a woman who can be more aggressive than you think. You’re trying to tame me with these restraints, but you can’t… Ah!”
“You can’t even see the mana, and now you bluff.”
All the staff of the Magic Department hid behind the twelve pillars of the hall, watching while the infamous witch, Eleonora Asil, was dragged by the Minister while being tied up with a rope. She seemed to be growling ferociously, but the Minister didn’t bat an eye.
“A lot of the Lady’s personalities are dead…”
“Right. Since we’re doing this, I’d like to destroy your own office.”
Oddly enough, Eleonora had repaired the building she had smashed when she returned from Tuesday’s class. With an apologetic face, she even bowed down to the employees.
Eventually, the workers who had been busy running away at first gradually adjusted to the chaos, and now, a week and a half later, everyone was secretly waiting for Tuesday and Thursday to come. If the Palace broke down, they didn’t have to work that day.
In the Magic Department, which boasted a fear of turnover due to working overtime every day, Eleonora’s disturbance was a window for people to take a breather. It was a funny paradox.
Moreover, the battle between their Minister, Adrian Rossinell, and Eleonora Asil, was quite exciting.
“…I see. I’m sorry. I won’t rebel. So could you please untie this rope?”
“You can’t say sorry with that face at all, so walk quickly. You won’t be able to get out of my room until this evening.”
It was not Elonora who was elated by the friendly voice of the Minister, but the wizards who were watching in secret.
“What are they doing in his room alone until evening?” they would gush eagerly.
The dramatic reunion of a lover who broke up after a scandalous fight in the capital! A battle that was plagued by love! Wasn’t their relationship so stimulating that it had become a romance novel that was exceedingly popular in the capital city?
The door slammed shut as Adrian, tugging along a tightly bound Eleonora, entered his office. And a little later, a child of only a height that reached an adult’s knee ran out of the corridor with clumsy steps.
The spectators, shrouded by the pillars, held their breaths as their bodies froze at once. In fact, what frightened them the most wasn’t Eleonora, but the kid. The cute little boy with black curly hair and dark red eyes, whose round cheeks were inviting to be poked.
“Noaaaaaaaah?” He looked like an innocent child with a tail twirling behind his back while snooping around, calling his owner who had disappeared somewhere.
The dragon, Muell, wanted to walk down the aisle, and soon he surged to the front of the pillar where the wizards were hiding.
Eek!
Tray, a member of the Ministry of Magic and Inventions, barely regained her balance when she saw the young dragon looking up at her directly. However, she was forced to exercise the spirit of service that public officials should have and smiled affectionately.
“What… what’s the matter, Mr. Muell?”
“Where is Noah?”
“Eleonora is in the Minister’s office. Over there… There are two doors that are this big.”
“Thank you.”
The little dragon had become much more gentle than when it first came to the Palace. Muell put his hand on his belly button, greeting the employee, then turned around and ran out to the hallway again. Then, he was suddenly caught by a pair of arms.
The eyes of the wizards turned to the man who dared to lift the dragon, and again, gasps echoed behind the pillars.
The man who just appeared was a famous figure in the Imperial City and at the same time, he was a man who had recently received the attention of the Imperial Officials as much as Eleonora and Adrian.
