Chapter 72: Ensnared
“Oh really. No? Just give me one more chance. I’ll never get into your room again. I swear it. If not, you can cut my wrist.” Adrian begged on their way to the security forces, feigning tears, while Muell rolled his eyes.
“Let’s go to the office and write it down on the affidavit.”
“I’ll do whatever you say. Huh? Oh, not the security!”
There’s nothing he could do. The security officers at the entrance were astonished as Park Noah dragged the man’s wrist with a tether.
“Lady, what’s the matter?”
“I’d like to report a stalker. I’ve got him, so please put him in the detention center for a while.”
“Oh, sh*t…” Adrian groaned under his breath, which made Park Noah to become even more suspicious. He might wound up in a detention center, but rather than feeling a sense of crisis, Adrian only looked annoyed. He stole a glance at the officers and hid behind her.
“Where are you hiding? Come out here.”
“Ellie, if I really get caught here…”
While they were in the midst of a fuss, a dark shadow suddenly fell over their heads. They raised their heads at the same time and their eyes met with a man of enormous height, terrifying build and fierce face.
“Oh, who…?”
“I’m the head of the security force in Battuanu District 1.”
“Aha. That’s great. Sir, take him away!”
An officer hurried to their side and handcuffed Adrian’s hands, who bowed slightly with a troubled look. Satisfied, Park Noah turned away with a clap. I should have done this earlier.
“The law is always right. Laurent is such a nice-”
“Wait a minute, lady.”
Unfortunately, things couldn’t easily go as she planned. The chief grabbed Park Noah’s shoulder and turned her around.
“Please give me your ID.”
Huh? She stared at the clunky hand that was extended towards her. “Me… me? Why me?”
“To report, we need to be sure of the identity of the caller. And you have to cooperate with the investigation. First of all, an ID card is required to prove that you are a Laurent resident.”
“….” I have an ID… I have one. With the name of the witch.
The chief immediately raised his eyebrows upon seeing her strange reaction. “No?”
“Eh…”
“In my long experience, there was no conflict whenever one’s identity was asked. For those uninvolved in any crime, that is.”
“Uh…”
Park Noah’s anxiety reached its peak. The officer who took Adrian approached the chief’s ear with a serious face and whispered something in his ear. The chief then took the rope, which tied Adrian’s wrists, and began to examine it. A moment later, he shifted his attention to Park Noah again.
“I don’t think this is something that is authorized by the Laurent Magic Department. There is no mark on it.”
Oh… this isn’t what I was expecting.
After a moment’s silence, the chief shouted to his colleagues. “Catch that woman, too. She possesses illegal magical items and is an unidentified person!”
No matter how much she wanted to plead, it was no use crying out for innocence. The accusation was all true, after all!
Soon, Park Noah was standing side by side with Adrian Rossinell as they walked toward the interrogation room. Muell glared at the arms of the officer who was dragging the two suspects.
Park Noah was staring at the little boy when the realization dawned on her. She had found herself trapped in a grave situation! She was able to travel all the way to Battuanu hiding her identity, and now her effort seemed to go down the drain as her face was about to be revealed.
Adrian clenched his teeth and whispered to her, interrupting her thoughts. “I told you not to come here, didn’t I?”
In response, she kicked his shin, despite the constraint of the handcuffs on her arm. “This is all because of you. You sc*mbag. You broke into my room, but why should I be arrested?”
“Why can’t you just talk? ‘I’m Eleonora Asil. I’m the Dragon Egg Thief!’”
“Will you shut up? And I’m not the egg thief.” She snapped.
While Park Noah and Adrian Rossinell were growling at each other, they were dragged right to the desk of the magistrate in charge.
“Two, can’t you be quiet? Please cooperate well before I report you to the branch manager immediately. Stalker, you raise your head, the unidentified next to you, take off your glasses right away.” He warned.
A large black machine came into sight. Park Noah had come all this way, hence she couldn’t back out. She was forced to take off her glasses with her left hand that wasn’t cuffed.
Click. As soon as the glasses left her eyes, the flash went off. Her face immediately emerged on the translucent screen next to the desk, and the face recognition device automatically searched for her identity.
Hundreds of faces flashed on the screen. Soon, the speed gradually slowed down, and stopped on someone’s picture. It was none other than the ID picture of Eleonora Asil. Then, the recognition result appeared under her photo.
