The faces of the people paled in an instant, their eyes as wide as their mouths. At that moment, their vague contempt for Eleonora Asil transformed into fear.
However, there was nothing more amusing than commanding the same people to be polite to her. Noah spat out rather intimidatingly, “I told the General Manager over there that I was willing to collaborate, but I wouldn’t know what I’m going to do if you keep treating me like this. Sir Leonard realized these past couple of days that you shouldn’t provoke me. Would you like me to make you understand you in a similar way?”
This time, everyone’s gaze shifted to Kyle, who was patting Muell’s back with a tired face. He looked rather pitiful in their eyes.
There was a stifling silence, and soon the Emperor opened his mouth to speak. “Alright. I apologize for the minister’s mistake. He didn’t mean to insult you. Isn’t that right, Finance Minister?”
“…..”
“Your words tend to be a bit harsh. Admit it and apologize. Come on.”
“…Sorry, Lady Asil.” The Finance Minister apologized with a disgruntled face. As the Emperor offered an apology himself, Noah decided to not press the matter further anymore, and nodded with the same contorted expression.
The Emperor gave a good laugh. “What a lovely sight. Now, Lady, you already know. I believe you will keep your promise to cooperate with the Imperial Family.”
“…Yes.” Now, it was time to prove her willingness to cooperate, and there was also only one way to gain the confidence of the Emperor of Laurent while simultaneously lowering the risks she posed.
“Mu, would you like to go to the Imperial City first?” Noah asked the little child, who was hugging Kyle.
“First?” His round eyes blinked in confusion.
“Yes. A few days… No, just a week ahead.”
That way, Noah would be apart from the dragon for a little while. It had been confirmed that it was possible to consciously control the mana if the physical distance from the source was great. It was good for Noah to be kept away from Muell until she somehow became used to the potent force.
“No…”
But, of course, the boy wouldn’t easily get away from his master. Feeling like Noah was leaving him behind, Muell began to flap his arms and legs, attempting to get out of Kyle’s grip.
“I’ll be with Noah, old man.”
“I’m not an old man.”
“You are right. Let me go!”
Kyle and Muell made a wild fuss. Noah watched the rare scene wherein a human, who had lived for twenty-eight years, and a dragon, who had lived for a month, squabbled.
“You keep calling me uncle, Mu. I would rather have you call me by my name.”
“Noah said you were an old man.”
“If you don’t change it, I won’t take you to Noah.”
At the butler’s remark, the child’s face showed deep sorrow. Noah then hurried to their side, interrupting their petty quarrel before Muell burst into tears. “Mu, if you promise to go ahead and stay calm without causing trouble, I’ll let you go back to your main body.”
Muell’s eyes widened in an instant, blinking away the tears as big as a bead, which trickled down to his puffy cheeks. Noah grabbed the opportunity to persuade the boy and cooed.
“Our Mu is a kind and patient dragon, so he can do well without Noah. There will be many more amazing things in the Imperial City than you’ve ever seen. If you’re really bored, tell your uncle to dress with a wig and play…”
Finally, after ten minutes of cooing, Muell finally nodded. “Well… you have to come quickly.”
“Of course, I will.”
“But I will fly right away when Noah’s in danger,” Muell sniffed.
“I’m sure that won’t happen, but if anything happens, I’ll call you right away.” After Noah had successfully convinced the dragon, she materialized in the air a piece of paper and a pen, and scribbled down instructions.
Muell was not a difficult dragon to handle, and if they had common sense, they wouldn’t do anything to provoke the anger of a dragon. Well, if they’re that stupid, they can’t help it. A tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye…
“…Uh.” Noah forced her thoughts to a halt. What, what am I thinking?
Frightened, she rushed to Muell and made him promise. “Mu, it is absolutely forbidden to kill indiscriminately. Alright?”
“Yes.”
When Noah saw the child smile again, she was relieved. Then, she handed the Emperor a note of the instructions she had written, and the Emperor’s expression was somehow nerve-wracking.
