“Lenia…”
The woman, who was following a male investigator, was certainly Lenia Valtalere. Although a shawl concealed her face, the color of her hair which protruded from the cloth was evidently hers. She and the investigator-in-charge were heading towards the same direction Noah was from, that is, the entrance to the prison.
She made a hurried whisper. “Wait a minute.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Isn’t that Lenia Valtalere? Is she gonna be released?”
“Of course, she’s innocent.”
“Innocent?”
The egg thief is innocent? Before Noah could protest in dismay, the investigator urged her dryly. “It’s none of your business. Let’s go.”
Of course she wasn’t the one to be told that.
Get out of the way.
Before Noah could utter one word, the mana in her responded. The investigator, who was trying to stand in my way, was pushed roughly against the wall by an intangible force. She then grabbed Lenia. “Lenia, look at me.”
Lenia’s eyes were hidden beneath the veil. As Noah stared at the cloth, the shawl moved by itself, revealing her face. She looked a little gaunt, but she didn’t seem to have suffered. Well, Noah didn’t want Lenia to be tortured, but if that’s the case, isn’t she too well?
Noah asked, softening her voice as kindly as possible. “You said you were innocent.”
There was no response.
“You said to me on deck that day. When I save you, you’ll tell me everything I’m curious about.”
“I can’t remember.”
“What?” Noah thought she heard the wrong answer, and when she glared at Lenia in dismay, the corner’s of the woman’s mouth drew a smile and let out a dry laugh.
“I can’t remember. I’m sorry, Lady.”
“…What in the hell?”
As soon as she descended the ship, Lenia was arrested and taken to the Bureau of Investigation. It’s only a matter of time before Lennia’s alibi turns out to be a lie, as Lenia’s double still resided in Valtalere’s mansion in Aijet. What a shameless attitude!
“Ahh…” At the same moment, a realization dawned on Noah. Did she take care of it already?
“I’ll leave you alone, then. My father is waiting.”
Lenia tried to pass by Noah, leaving only a monotonous remark. It was only natural for anger from betrayal to rouse within Noah. Who was it that saved your life?
“Lenia Valtalere, do you think this is funny?” Noah spat out coldly as Lenia walked toward the entrance.
Her wrath immediately materialized into reality. With a chilling sound, a huge predator set its claws on the hard stone floor, resulting in a succession of scratches, Fragments of stone bounced into the air.
When she saw the investigators who responded immediately, pulling out their weapons, Noah didn’t flinch one bit. There was only one emotion that consumed her head.
I’m tired of this now. Should I just kill her?
“…Lady Asil.”
A sharp voice cut off Noah’s hateful thoughts, and the pieces of stone that soared into the air immediately froze. She turned her head to the origin of the voice and saw Kyle standing at the end of the hall.
“…Sir.”
When she met with his violet orbs, the extreme emotions that raged within her gradually subsided. Only then did she return to her senses.
What were you thinking?!
“You clearly promised me you wouldn’t make a fuss. If you rebel more than this, I can’t treat you as politely as I have done, you know.”
“…..”
“Lloyd, please take Lenia Valtalere upstairs.”
Noah grabbed hold of her throbbing head and watched Lenia disappear beyond the entrance. You’re sending her like this? No, before that. What was I really just going to do?
Oddly enough, although it was just a moment ago, Noah’s memory of the situation had already vanished as if it was swept away by a tide. All that was left was a sense of bewilderment and marks on the floor.
“Follow me, Lady Asil.” Kyle turned around. Noah walked toward him and clasped her fingers around his arm, hoping that the only two of them would be left in the interrogation room. There were plenty of things Noah wanted to ask. I don’t think I’m in a normal state right now…
But as soon as they entered the small, dark room, Noah realized that it was not possible for her and Kyle to converse exclusively.
Confining the room were metal bars all over the wall. There was only one iron desk and dozens of tape recorders were placed in every corner of the room.
